Past Simple
- Acción que se desarrolló y finalizó en el pasado, sin que se de ninguna
información sobre cual ha sido su repercusión en el tiempo presente.

- Acción que se desarrolló y completó en un periodo de tiempo ya finalizado.

Present Perfect
- Acción que se inició en el pasado y que aún continúa desarrollándose.
I have worked in this bank for ten years (todavía
continúo en el banco)
-Cuando el periodo de tiempo incluye el momento presente.
I have lived in Barcelona for 5 years (todavía vivo en
Barcelona)
I have never seen this film before.

The “Past Participle" es una "forma del verbo"
que va acompañada de otro verbo (un verbo
auxiliar) para formar un "tiempo verbal
compuesto.“
En español el participio se forma con las
terminaciones "ado/ada" o "ido/ida". También
existen formas irregulares como "hecho"

Yo he caminado ("caminado" es el participio del verbo "caminar")
La casa fue construida en 1990 ("construida" es el
participio del verbo "construir")
Él ha dormido bien ("dormido" es el participio del verbo "dormir")
Ustedes han visto la película ("visto" es el participio del
verbo "ver". En este caso fíjate que en español es irregular)

En estos ejemplos aparece un verbo
auxiliar. En español esos verbos auxiliares
son "ser/estar" o "haber".
En inglés esos verbos auxiliares son el
verbo "to be" (ser/estar) y el verbo "have"
(haber).

Yo he caminado = I have walked
La casa fue construida en 1990 =
The house was built in 1990
Él ha dormido bien = He has slept well
Ustedes han visto la película =
You (all) have seen the movie.

En inglés el "past participle" es:
• Para los verbos regulares son las terminaciones
en "ed".
-walked -cooked -baked-liked
• Para los verbos irregulares, la tercera columna del
“List of Irregular Verbs in the Past.”
-eaten -been -slept -taught

Present Perfect
 Events that happened
at an indefinite time in
the past.
I have been to Valparaiso.
 Events that began in
the past and continue
up to the present.
I have traveled to Valparaiso on
weekends for 5 years.
 With ever and never.
I have never been to Valparaiso.
