1. ACT: Are You Ready to Act Now? Senior Advisory Lesson September 9, 2010 ACT Information and Registration

2. ACT stands for American College Testing. It is a national college entrance exam covering four the for areas of English, Math, Reading, and Science. There are a total of 215 questions that take about 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete with a short 10 minute break. WHAT is the ACT?

3. Most colleges will use your test scores to award you scholarship money. ALL colleges and universities also use your scores to place you in your freshman college courses. For example, you need to score a 22 or higher in the math section of the ACT to not be enrolled in a remedial math course. (Remedial college courses must be paid for like a regular course BUT you don’t get credit for it on your transcript.) WHY take the ACT?

4. For scholarship purposes, you can take the ACT anytime but we recommend the spring of your junior year and then up until December of your senior year. You can still take the ACT past December of your senior year but your scores will not be reflected with scholarship money. It can prevent you from taking a remedial course if your scores go up in the spring of your senior year. WHEN do I take the ACT?
