This presentation will give an overview on the basic features of European Research Infrastructures as part of the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union for the funding of research, FP7. The talk will give insight in the importance and structure of Research Infrastructures. Funding mechanisms and possibilities for (Swiss) researchers to gain access to the infrastructures, in particular for the Social Sciences and Humanities, will be covered as well.
