cont’d
W. T. Clarke Middle School was named a 2011
National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department
of Education. The Blue Ribbon Program honors
schools whose students achieve at very high levels.
5. Teaching Style &
Approach
Student-centered, inquiry-based approach that will
encourage the student to take an active role in
his/her science instruction.
Teaching, for me, is all about
Connecting curriculum to the real-world experiences
and interests of young people
Connecting my own experiences to those of my
students
Connecting the knowledge and experiences of my
students to each other.
6. To Engage and Motivate
Make the classroom an inviting and fun place to be!
We have to model enthusiasm and interest in the topics we teach!
Students are motivated to learn when they are engaged and having
fun with science (remember Andrew Fairchild’s crime solving
project?)
7. 21 st Century Technology

student engagement and curiosity.
