2. SUMMARY
chateaux are manor houses or a country house of nobility,
built by the lords of the manor
chateaux were originally created for fortification, but they
eventually became used for a demonstration of splendor
and power
the Loire River is in west-central France and it’s the
country’s longest river
the Loire Valley is between the regions of Maine and Sully-
sur-Loire
5. HISTORY
This chateaux was built in the 10th century
and was a very important residence for
French kings in the 16th century After the
death of an important resident (Gaston
d'Orléans) in the 17th century, the castle
went into decline. The Chateau de Blois was
one of the first buildings to be classified as a
historical monument and it still open for
visits today.
6. INTERIOR
the entire interior is really
ornate
there are many different wings
dedicated to the various kings
and lords who stayed there
the rooms are pretty typical of
what one would expect to see
in a castle- they are very big
and very extravagant
7. COOL FEATURES
there is a huge spiral staircase that was built by
Francois I (it’s a lot bigger than the picture shows)
8. ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA
there are several other chateaux that one could visit
if they went to the Loire Valley (Chateau de
Chenonceau, Chateau de Villandry, etc.)
there are also several cathedrals (Chartres Cathedral)
9. STAYING IN A CHATEAU!
The chateaux I chose to stay in is
called Château Camomille
I will be staying there from April 25 to
April 28
It will cost me 1,012 € or $1,440.53
