follows:

Zinc Dichromate, typically gold in colour, contains
Hexavalent Chromium and has been widely used
for many years. The use of hexavalent chromium
is being phased out of the fluid power industry.
2.
Clear Trivalent Chromium plating, typically silver
in colour, has been adopted in recent years as
the standard. It appears that this process may
ultimately be replaced.
3.
Black Zinc plating, typically black in colour, is
likely to be found more frequently in the future.
The coatings used on adapters may change, but the functionality is not altered by such
changes.
