This document discusses film censorship in India. It begins by defining censorship as the suppression of speech or information that is deemed objectionable or sensitive. It then explains that film censorship is practiced to varying degrees in different countries, sometimes due to lobbying efforts. In India, the constitution protects freedom of expression but also places restrictions to maintain religious harmony given past tensions. The country's film certification board regulates content that threatens unity, security, or public order. The document provides background on India's film rating system and censorship practices.
