CREATIVITY
• Creativity refers to the invention or
  origination of any new thing (a
  product, solution, artwork, literary work, etc.)
  that has value.
• Creativity is an ability to come up with new
  and different viewpoints on a subject.
• “Creativity is the act of turning new and
  imaginative ideas into reality.
• Being creative is seeing the same thing as
  everyone else, but thinking of something
  different.
• Creativity involves two processes:
  thinking, then producing. Innovation is the
  production or implementation of an idea. If
  you have ideas, but don’t act on them, you are
  imaginative but not creative.” — Linda Naiman
• Linda Naiman is founder of Creativity at Work
  and co-author of Orchestrating Collaboration
  at Work.
• Some examples of creativity would be the way
  that you dress. No one dresses the
  same, everyone has a different style. We don't
  see everyone with the same amount of make-
  up, same shoes with the same outfit, no one with
  the same artwork that a child makes. Each one
  has a different style of approaching the world and
  its conflicts.
• Anything can be creative - from art to music to
  just the way we speak and act!

Creativity wanted:
• A 2008 study by The Conference Board, (Ready to
  Innovate), set out to understand how important
  “Creativity” is to today’s business leaders and find
  out what skills or traits these leaders were seeking
  in the new leaders and managers.
• Prior research by The Conference Board had
  revealed that business executives felt that new
  managerial talent was lacking in “desired creative
  skills.” 97% of the 155 business executives
  surveyed in the 2008 study, “agreed that creativity
  is of increasing importance in the workplace.”
• The executives in this study were additionally asked
  to rate the traits and skills they felt best
  demonstrated creativity. The top three skills or
  traits that employers were:
• 1) Problem identification or articulation (47%),
• 2) Ability to identify new patterns of behavior or
  combinations of actions (46%), and
• 3) Integration of knowledge across different
  disciplines (42%).
• In essence, from this data, it seems that business
  executives want people who are perceptive, and
  have the ability to connect the dots.
• Business leaders are looking for out of creative
  people. Creativity is more of an “internal” trait or
  characteristic.
CREATIVITY IN ORGANIZATIONS
• Organizational effectiveness depends on the
  creativity of the workforce to a large extent.
  For any given organization, measures of
  effectiveness vary, depending upon its
  mission, environmental context, nature of
  work, the product or service it produces and
  customer demands.
• Creativity is a powerful tool that can improve
  the performance of an organization in a
  positive way and increase profits as well.
ACQUIRING CREATIVE SKILLS
• Fluency - ability to produce many ideas
• Flexibility - ability to produce a varied mix of
  ideas
• Elaboration - ability to add
  detail, depth, mixtures of viewpoints or
  perspectives
• Originality - uniqueness, novelty, newness
THE BENEFITS OF CREATIVE THINKING

Creative people gain many advantages in the real
  world.
We too can get ahead by using creating thinking
  abilities to generate winning, innovative ideas.
By doing so, we will:
• Struggle less and achieve more
• Distinguish our self from the pack
• Increase your self-confidence
• Speed up our career advancement
• Increase our earning power
• Recognize and solve problems quicker and
  easier
• Enjoy greater job satisfaction
• Earn the respect of colleagues and managers
• Enhance the spiritual as well as mental aspect
  of life
• Become a voice for innovation
• Make a difference
• Get started gaining the benefits that come
  from enhancing our creative thinking abilities.

ORGANIZATIONAL HURDLES IN
           CREATIVITY
• An originator comes with creative idea
• At each level of management, the idea gets
  pruned and refined
• Thus till the time the idea gets
  implemented, it would have gone through a
  number of hurdles.

  • 2. CREATIVITY • Creativity refers to the invention or origination of any new thing (a product, solution, artwork, literary work, etc.) that has value. • Creativity is an ability to come up with new and different viewpoints on a subject. • “Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality.
  • 3. • Being creative is seeing the same thing as everyone else, but thinking of something different. • Creativity involves two processes: thinking, then producing. Innovation is the production or implementation of an idea. If you have ideas, but don’t act on them, you are imaginative but not creative.” — Linda Naiman • Linda Naiman is founder of Creativity at Work and co-author of Orchestrating Collaboration at Work.
  • 4. • Some examples of creativity would be the way that you dress. No one dresses the same, everyone has a different style. We don't see everyone with the same amount of make- up, same shoes with the same outfit, no one with the same artwork that a child makes. Creativity wanted: • A 2008 study by The Conference Board, (Ready to Innovate), set out to understand how important “Creativity” is to today’s business leaders and find out what skills or traits these leaders were seeking in the new leaders and managers. • Prior research by The Conference Board had revealed that business executives felt that new managerial talent was lacking in “desired creative skills.” 97% of the 155 business executives surveyed in the 2008 study, “agreed that creativity is of increasing importance in the workplace.” • The executives in this study were additionally asked to rate the traits and skills they felt best demonstrated creativity. The top three skills or traits that employers were:
  • 6. • 1) Problem identification or articulation (47%), • 2) Ability to identify new patterns of behavior or combinations of actions (46%), and • 3) Integration of knowledge across different disciplines (42%). • In essence, from this data, it seems that business executives want people who are perceptive, and have the ability to connect the dots. • Business leaders are looking for out of creative people. Creativity is more of an “internal” trait or characteristic.
  • 7. CREATIVITY IN ORGANIZATIONS • Organizational effectiveness depends on the creativity of the workforce to a large extent. For any given organization, measures of effectiveness vary, depending upon its mission, environmental context, nature of work, the product or service it produces and customer demands. • Creativity is a powerful tool that can improve the performance of an organization in a positive way and increase profits as well.
  • 8. ACQUIRING CREATIVE SKILLS • Fluency - ability to produce many ideas • Flexibility - ability to produce a varied mix of ideas • Elaboration - ability to add detail, depth, mixtures of viewpoints or perspectives • Originality - uniqueness, novelty, newness
  • 9. THE BENEFITS OF CREATIVE THINKING Creative people gain many advantages in the real world. We too can get ahead by using creating thinking abilities to generate winning, innovative ideas. By doing so, we will: • Struggle less and achieve more • Distinguish our self from the pack • Increase your self-confidence • Speed up our career advancement • Increase our earning power

  • 13. CREATIVE PEOPLE CAN BE SAID TO HAVE • A particular style • Originality • Competence • Experience • Determination • Flexibility • Positive outlook
  • 14. ORGANIZATIONAL HURDLES IN CREATIVITY • An originator comes with creative idea • At each level of management, the idea gets pruned and refined • Thus till the time the idea gets implemented, it would have gone through a number of hurdles.
