Remember that 12 and its multiples are used to identify God’s people ,[object Object],[object Object]

What will happen to God's people when he destroys his enemies? ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

Numbers are important in apocalyptic literature ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

Numbers are significant to us, too ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

12,000 each from 12 tribes means all of God's people were sealed ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

The patriarchs are not the same as the tribes ,[object Object],[object Object]

As a result, there was no tribe of Joseph ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

OT references to a tribe of Joseph refer to one – or both – of his sons ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

There were only twelve land divisions in the Promised Land ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

So there were 12 patriarchs and 12 land divisions, but 13 tribes ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

Remember that the ancients did not view numbers as we do ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

Don't take 144,000 literally and don't look for 12,000 each from 12 tribes ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

Paul was pointing out the futility of Judaism and the superiority of Christ ,[object Object],[object Object]

Jesus' brother described Christians as "12 tribes of the dispersion" ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

If the 144,000 is the church on earth, who is the great multitude of 7:9-17? ,[object Object],[object Object]

An elder asks "who are they, and from where did they come?" ,[object Object],[object Object]

These are the martyrs we saw under the altar in the fifth seal ,[object Object]

The 144,000 are on earth; the great multitude is in heaven ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

Shifting vantage points is a common feature of apocalyptic writings ,[object Object],[object Object]
