- Columbus was an famous explorer. He sailed from Europe to America crossing the Atlantic Ocean not knowing where they would land
- He was born in 31 october 1451 at Republic of Genoa, italy. His father was Domenico Colombo and his mother Susana Fontanarossa, he had 3 brothers
- Columbus is famous to discover America, but, Columbus did not 'discover'. Before him, there were many people already living there, but Columbus did not know that, so, he thinked that.
- He explored a world new to Europeans, Native American people lived on the islands. Columbus called them 'Indians', because he thought he'd landed in 'the Indies'.
- Between 1492 and 1503, Columbus completed four round-trip voyages between Spain and the Americas. These voyages marked the beginning of the European exploration and colonization of the American continents.
- On his first expedition, Columbus led an expedition with three ships, Niña, Pinta and Santa Maria with about 90 crew members.
- On a second expedition, he sailed with 17 ships and 1,200 to 1,500 men to find gold and capture Indians as slaves in the Indies
- On a third expedition, he sailed farther south, to Trinidad and Venezuela (including the mouth of the Orinoco River).
- On his fourth and last expedition, Columbus sailed to Mexico, Honduras and Panama (in Central America) and Santiago (Jamaica). Columbus is buried in eastern Hispaniola (now called the Dominican Republic).
