Hydrosphereis the liquid water component of the Earth. It include  the oceans, seas,lakes,ponds,rivers and streams.The hydrosphere covers 70% of the surface of the earth and is the home for many plants and animals.-
The hydrosphere, like the atmosphere, is always in motion. The motion  of rivers and streams can easily seen, while the motion of the water within lakes and ponds is less obvious.
Some of the motion of the ocean and seas can easily seen while the large scale motions that move water great distances such as between the tropics and poles or between continents are more difficult to see. These types of motion are in the form of currents that move the warm waters in the tropics towards the poles, and colder water from the Polar Regions towards the tropics. These currents exist on the surface of the ocean and at great depths in the ocean.
The oceans, which cover than 70% of the earth's surface, play a fundamental and complex role in regulating climate. The oceans absorb huge amounts of solar energy; oceans transport this heat from the equator toward the Poles. In the past, long-term, natural oscillations in the oceans capacity to store and transport heat led to global temperature changes. Future climate changes –whether natural or human-induced-will also be strongly influenced by the powerful dynamics of the seas.
As part of a vast planetary cycle of  evaporation and rainfall, the oceans are also fundamental to the movement of water around the globe. Measuring changes in precipitation patterns, and understanding how they may lead to droughts in some regions and flooding in other ,is a major part of predicting  the potential effects of global climate  on human activities and natural ecosystem.
Hydrosphereis also composed of all of the water on or near the earth. This include the oceans, rivers, lakes, and even the moisture  in the air. Ninety-seven percent of the earth’s water is the oceans. The remaining  three percent is fresh water; three-quarter of the fresh water is solid and exist in ice sheets.Biosphere-The biosphere is composed of all living organism.Plants,animals,and one-celled organism are all part of the biosphere. Most of the planet’s life is found from three meters below the ground to thirty meters above it and in the top 200 meters of the oceans and seas.
Atmosphere The atmosphere is the body of air which surround our planet. Most of our atmosphere is located close to the earth’s surface where it is most dense. The air of our planet is 79% nitrogen and just under 21%oxygen;the small amount remaining is composed of carbon dioxide and other gases. All four spheres can be and often lithosphere.Additionally,there will be elements of the hydrosphere present as moisture within the soil, the biosphere as insects and plants, and even he atmosphere as pockets of air between soil pieces.
Water pollution Is a major global problem. it has been suggested that it is the leading worldwide cause of deaths and diseases, and that it accounts for the deaths of more than 14,000 Indians have no access to a proper toilet, and 1,000 Indian children die of diarrheal sickness everday.Some 90% of China’s cities suffer from some degree of water pollution, and nearly 500 m, people lack access to safe drinking water.
In addition  to the acute problems of water pollution in developing countries, industrialized countries continue to struggle with pollution problems as well. In the most recent national report on water quality in the United States,45 percent of assessed stream miles, 47 percent of assessed lake acres, and 32 percent of assessed bay and estuarine square were classified as  polluted.
Water is typically referred to as polluted when it is impaired by anthropogeniccontaminants and either does no support a human use, such as drinking  water, and/or undergoes a marked shift in its ability to support its constituent biotic  communities, such as fish. Natural phenomena such as volcanoes,algae blooms,storms,and earthquakesalso cause major changes in water quality and the ecologically status of water.
Categories Surface water and groundwater have often been studied and managed as separate resources, although they are intrerrelated.Surface water seeps through the soil and becomes groundwater. Conversely, groundwater can also feed surface water sources. Sources of water pollution are generally grouped into two categories base on their origin.
Point sources  Point source pollution- Shipyard-Rio de Janeiro,Point source pollution refers to contaminants that enter a waterway from a single,indentifiable source, such as a pipeor ditch. Ex. of sources in this category include discharges from a sewage treatment plant ,a factory, or a city storm drain.
Non-point sources Non –point sources(NPS) pollution refers to diffuse contamination that does not originate from a single discrete source.NPS pollution is often the cumulative effect of small amounts of contaminants gathered from a large area. A common ex. is the  leaching out of nitrogen compounds from fertilized agricultural lands. Nutrients runoff in storm water from  “sheet flow” over an agricultural or a forest are also cited as example of NPS pollution.
Contaminated storm water washed off of parking lots, roads and highways, called urban runoff, is sometimes included under the category of NPS pollution. However, this runoff is typically channeled into storm drain system and discharge through pipes to local surface waters, and is a point source. However where such water is not channeled and drains directly to ground it is a non-point source.
Ground Pollution Interactions between groundwater and surface water are complex.Consequently,groundwater pollution, sometimes referred to as ground water contamination, is not as easily classified as surface water pollution. By its very nature, groundwater aquifers are susceptible to contamination from sources from sources that may not directly affect surface water bodies, and the distinction of point vs. non-point source may be irrelevant. A spill or ongoing releases of chemical or radionuclide contaminants into soil (located away from a surface water body)may not create point source or non-point source pollution, but can contaminate the aquifer below, defined as a toxin plume. The movement of the plume, called a plume front, may be analyze through a hydrological transport model or  groundwater model. Analysis of groundwater contamination may focus on the soil characteristics and site geology,hydrogeology,hydrology,and the nature of the contaminants.
causes The specific contaminants leading to pollution in water include a wide spectrum of chemicals,pathogens,and physical or sensory changes such as elevated temperature and discololaration.while many of the chemicals and substance that are regulated may be naturally occurring (calcium,sodium,iron, manganese, etc.) the concentration is often the key in determining what is a natural components of water ,and what is a contaminant. High concentrations of naturally –occurring substances can have negative impacts on aquatic flora and fauna.
Oxygen Depleting substances may be natural materials, such as plant matter (e.g. leaves and grass)as well as man-made chemicals. Other natural and anthropogenic substances may cause turbidity  (cloudiness)which blocks light and disrupts plant growth, and clogs the gills of some fish species. Many of chemical substance are toxic. Pathogens can produce  waterborne diseases in either human or animal hosts. Alteration of water’s physical chemistry includes acidity (change in pH),electricalconductivity, temperature, and eutrophication.Eutrophication is an increase in the concentration of chemical nutrients in an ecosystem  to an extent that increases in the primary productivity of the ecosytem.Depending on the degree of eutrophication, subsequent negative environmental effects such as anoxia (oxygen depletion) and severe reductions in water quality may occur, affecting fish and other animal populations.

These types of motion are in the form of currents that move the warm waters in the tropics towards the poles, and colder water from the Polar Regions towards the tropics. These currents exist on the surface of the ocean and at great depths in the ocean.

The oceans absorb huge amounts of solar energy; oceans transport this heat from the equator toward the Poles. In the past, long-term, natural oscillations in the oceans capacity to store and transport heat led to global temperature changes. Future climate changes –whether natural or human-induced-will also be strongly influenced by the powerful dynamics of the seas.

Water pollution Is a major global problem. it has been suggested that it is the leading worldwide cause of deaths and diseases, and that it accounts for the deaths of more than 14,000 Indians have no access to a proper toilet, and 1,000 Indian children die of diarrheal sickness everday.Some 90% of China’s cities suffer from some degree of water pollution, and nearly 500 m, people lack access to safe drinking water.

In the most recent national report on water quality in the United States,45 percent of assessed stream miles, 47 percent of assessed lake acres, and 32 percent of assessed bay and estuarine square were classified as polluted.

Non-point sources Non –point sources(NPS) pollution refers to diffuse contamination that does not originate from a single discrete source.NPS pollution is often the cumulative effect of small amounts of contaminants gathered from a large area. A common ex. is the leaching out of nitrogen compounds from fertilized agricultural lands. Nutrients runoff in storm water from “sheet flow” over an agricultural or a forest are also cited as example of NPS pollution.
  • 15. Contaminated storm water washed off of parking lots, roads and highways, called urban runoff, is sometimes included under the category of NPS pollution. However, this runoff is typically channeled into storm drain system and discharge through pipes to local surface waters, and is a point source. However where such water is not channeled and drains directly to ground it is a non-point source.

Ground Pollution Interactions between groundwater and surface water are complex.Consequently,groundwater pollution, sometimes referred to as ground water contamination, is not as easily classified as surface water pollution. By its very nature, groundwater aquifers are susceptible to contamination from sources from sources that may not directly affect surface water bodies, and the distinction of point vs. non-point source may be irrelevant. A spill or ongoing releases of chemical or radionuclide contaminants into soil (located away from a surface water body)may not create point source or non-point source pollution, but can contaminate the aquifer below, defined as a toxin plume. The movement of the plume, called a plume front, may be analyze through a hydrological transport model or groundwater model. Analysis of groundwater contamination may focus on the soil characteristics and site geology,hydrogeology,hydrology,and the nature of the contaminants.

Alteration of water’s physical chemistry includes acidity (change in pH),electricalconductivity, temperature, and eutrophication.Eutrophication is an increase in the concentration of chemical nutrients in an ecosystem to an extent that increases in the primary productivity of the ecosytem.Depending on the degree of eutrophication, subsequent negative environmental effects such as anoxia (oxygen depletion) and severe reductions in water quality may occur, affecting fish and other animal populations.
