4. 1]Broadcasting INSAT-
3A,INSAT-3C
Newsgathering – First choice
for live coverage, providing
high-bandwidth video links
from remote locations to
capture “breaking news”.
Program Delivery – Primary feeds for network TV and
radio broadcasts to affiliates and cable TV head-ends
6. 3]Remote Sensing IRS-
P4,CARTOSAT-
2,
OCEANSAT-2
• Provides scientific, industrial, civil, military and individual users with high-
resolution images for:
• natural resource monitoring
• urban and utility/telecom planning
• agricultural assessments
• insurance and risk management
• oil and gas exploration
• mapping
• natural disaster/emergency
response
• national/regional security
7. 4]Relief and Recovery INSAT-
3A,RISAT-2
• Physical damage and enormous demand stressed
terrestrial networks during attacks
• Satellite phones became a lifeline for
emergency workers, government and military
planners
• News organizations relied on satellite phones
and satellite trucks to report from the scene
• Satellite broadcasters supplied NY cable
companies with local broadcast signals using
DBS, once their terrestrial networks were
damaged
8. 5]Search and rescue GSAT-5P,

9. 6]Navigation Kalpana-
1,IRS-P3,
IRS-P6
• A military system that is now central to the lives of millions of civil
and commercial users
• Public safety dispatch – improves response time
• Search and Rescue – locates emergency calls
• Air Traffic Control – guides planes in all weather
• Telecommunications – primary timing source,
E-911 enabler
• Transportation – tracks trains, trucks, vital shipments
• Underpins indian Warfighting
• Precision Munitions
• Cruise Missiles
• Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

12. 9]Future of Aviation
Currently providing secure and reliable voice and
data communications
In-flight data and voice communications for Crew,
Air Marshals and passengers
Establishing specialized secure communications for
airplanes, airports, seaports, and border control.
Enable Search and Rescue
Next Generation Satellite Services
Global Air Traffic Management
Black Box Alternatives
Advanced passenger and safety services

13. IMS-
10]Package Tracking 1,RISAT-2
Allowing the customer to track the position of its
container fleet in real time with the help of GPS
Modems attached to cargo containers track their
location as they are hauled by truck, boat or plane
Global positioning system (GPS)
information on each container is
automatically sent back
to a central control office via
satellite
Currently, in-flight package tracking is
limited

14. Chandraya
11]Planetary Science na 1
Chandrayana 1:
Chandrayaan-1 is
the first mission towards
the dream.
Chandrayana
droped 23kg moon
impact probe, carrying
indian flag and scientific
instruments including
cameras and measuring nd
instruments. is planning 2 moon mission in
ISRO
2013 which Russion Fedral Space Agency is joining with
ISROChandrayanaLander/Rover.
for developing 2 :
The rover would move on wheels on the
lunar surface, pick up samples of soil or rocks, do a
chemical analysis and send the data to the spacecraft
orbiting above.
15. Distance Classroom EDUSAT
, INSAT-
Education 3B
• 20 September 2004 launch of
EDUSAT & it is placed in the 36,000 km
high geostationary orbit and co-located
with INSAT-3C and KALPANA-1
•. In the first phase of pilot projects,
Kuband transponder on board INSAT-
3B, which is already in orbit, is being
used
•Visveswaraiah Technological
University (VTU) is the main beneficiary
of this pilot project. Under this project,
all engineering colleges of VTU are
being networked with 100 nodes.
Besides Karnataka, the Y. B. Chavan
State Open University, Nasik in
Maharashtra and the Rajiv Gandhi
Technical University in Madhya Pradesh
are covered
