Walt Disney
Walt Disney is well-known for his influence in the entertainment industry
during the twentieth century. Walt co-founded Walt Disney Productions
with his brother Roy O. Disney and became one of the most famous
motion picture producers of all time. Here are 15 life lessons from Walt :
Life Lesson 1 : Keep Things in Perspective
Your family is your first business, and they should never be neglected
in pursuit of "a dream." Your family must be part of your dream, and
should remain within your focus. Never become so consumed in
business affairs that you neglect the individuals whom you need most.

“A man should never neglect his family for business.”
Life Lesson 2 : Ask For Help
You can‟t possibly know everything and should stop acting like you do. Walt
lived through two world wars and saw the invention of countless gadgets
and machines designed to make life easier. No one person could keep up
with it all. Walt knew this and asked for help and advice from experts.

“All you’ve got to do is own up to your ignorance honestly, and you’ll find people who
are eager to fill your head with information.”
Life Lesson 3 : Action Always Trumps Inaction
A plan is good, a good plan is even better, but if that plan doesn‟t get
put into action it‟s as useless as a four fingered glove. Learn to get into
action, start today, whatever you‟ve been postponing…just do it. If you
wait for the perfect time, you‟ll never accomplish anything.

“The way to get started is to
quit talking and begin doing.”
Life Lesson 4 : Keep Trying
In today‟s world, we‟re often hampered by a number of negative events. Is
this truly different than Walt‟s day? Probably not as much as we would like
to think. The rights to his first cartoon were more or less stolen from
him. He didn‟t pout in his easy chair for the rest of his life. He got back up
and Mickey Mouse was born.

“Everyone falls down. Getting
back up is how you learn.”
Life Lesson 5 : Work Hard
This is, or should be, common sense. After all, Walt grew up in an
average working class family and saw his dad go to work daily. Don‟t
look for shortcuts. Be willing to invest time and effort into a job well
done and success will follow.

“People often ask me if I know the secret of success and if I could tell others
how to make their dreams come true. My answer is, you do it by working.”
Life Lesson 6 : Dreams Really Do Come True
It takes courage to fail and try again until success occurs. If
you have courage, or can cultivate it, you are on your way to
your dreams of wealth and success coming true.

“All our dreams can come true, if we have
the courage to pursue them.”
Life Lesson 7 : Do What You Love
You must follow your passion, if you‟re doing it just for the money, it
probably won‟t last. Passion is what gives you the strength to overcome the
obstacles associated with every dream. Passion is what keeps you going
when everyone else is tired…money can't do that for you, only passion;
passion is power.

“Disneyland is a work of love. We didn't go into
Disneyland just with the idea of making money.”
Life Lesson 8 : Do the Impossible
Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Life is too short
to spend it doing the possible. Learn to pursue the impossible, pursue
what others say can‟t be done, pursue what has never been done
before, pursue your dreams, and turn them into a reality.

“It's kind of fun to do the impossible.”
Life Lesson 9 : It Takes a Village
Isaiah wrote, “Without a vision, the people perish.” But I think it‟s
worth noting that without people, the vision will perish. Never forget
that you need people; never forget that your life is about serving
others. When you serve others, you serve yourself.

“You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it
takes people to make the dream a reality.”
Life Lesson 10 : Competition is Good
Competition makes you stronger, it makes you better, it keeps you on
your toes. Never shrink away from competition; never fail to see the
value of competition. Your competitors can provide you with more
value than your friends. Learn from the competition, and you will grow.

“I have been up against tough competition all my life.
I wouldn't know how to get along without it.”
Life Lesson 11: Know Your Priorities And Stop Worrying
All the success in the world won‟t be worth anything if your
priorities are backwards. This is excellent but difficult advice to
follow. However, you‟ll save yourself time, energy and possibly an
anxiety attack if you do.

“Why worry? If you’ve done the very best you
can, worrying won’t make it better.””
Life Lesson 12 : Get Better Daily
Everyday you should become a little better than you were the day
before. If you can become one percent better daily, you can
recreate your life every 100 days. Learn to get better daily; look for
ways to improve, to be kinder, more intelligent, and more helpful.

“Whenever I go on a ride, I'm always thinking of what's
wrong with the thing and how it can be improved.”
Life Lesson 13 : Continue Education
The level of success beyond college graduation is often in direct correlation
to the amount of time spent reading. Read fiction, non-fiction, biographies
and „how-to‟s‟ ….just never stop learning. Power comes from knowledge and
knowledge comes from books. It always has and always will.

“There is more treasure in
books than in all the pirate’s
loot on Treasure Island.”
Life Lesson 14 : Do It For Others
Whenever Walt Disney created animated shorts back then he never did it
just for himself; but instead he would always find ways in which he could
share his work with others. Walt Disney‟s works teach us a lot of things,
such as the value of love for friends and family, hope for the good and his
most important lesson: good will always triumph over evil.
Life Lesson 15 : Never Just Settle With Your First Success
After creating Mickey Mouse, Disney didn‟t stop at just him. Instead he went
on and created Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, etc. He was never content
with what he had done because he always wanted to achieve more and grow
with his dreams. He also didn‟t stop with just one Mickey Mouse design, he
kept redesigning his creation so that it would be better every time.

“If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember that
this whole thing was started with a dream and a mouse.”
Here are 15 invaluable lessons that you can learn from Walt
Disney. His success has definitely served as an inspiration to a
lot of people and even after his death, his legacy still carries on.

Thank You Very Much
