27. Go for PowerBI v2 !
• Easier, faster, PowerBI team more involved, more visualizations, extensible(D3.js, api,...)
• But the identity doesn’t flow (yet) in hybrid mode
• Can be embedded in SharePoint On Prem
SharePoint 2016 is still fine for BI
• ETL :
• Start with in Excel with PowerQuery and PowerPivot for the prototype
• If there is a BI team : use SSIS
• Modeling :
• Start with PowerPivot for the prototype
• If there is a BI team : use SSAS
Our advices
28. SharePoint 2016 (continued)
• Visualization
• Avoid Power View ( native mode and Excel Mode : requires
Silverlight, no clear roadmap)
• Use Excel Online or SSRS Integrated or Native
• KPIs :
• Drill Down : use PerformancePoint or Excel on top of SSAS
• Make sure the SharePoint team master Kerberos delegation !
29. Or… Use SSRS 2016
• Store links to reports in SharePoint
• Or Pin reports to PowerBI dashboards
SSRS : sql server reporting services
SSIS : sql server integration services
SSAS: sql server Analysis services
Office web app (Wac) is now « OOS » : Office Online Server
Excel Service which was a SharePoint service is not a SP service anymor, is now part of OOS
PowerView requires Silverlight -> only Desktop Windows, no mobile
Powerview in SharePoint requires Reportig Service Integrated Mode
BI only available with SQL 16?
PowerPivot now support PowerQuery queries (with refresh)
Excel Online part of OOS, requires kerberos credential service delegation

In Excel open PicnicwithBinaryFinal -Show PowerPivot Model – show the powerview; show that when we interract with the document a cube is created in Analysis services (PowerPivot mode) – this is possible since sp2010
When we have a data model (from PowerPivot or SSAS)->PowerView Native
Show PowerView Native Mode
20 min avant la démo
30’ avant d’arriver à la powerbi
Show the data sources (SP Online and SQL Server On prem for distributors)
Start PowerBI Desktop
Show data model and show ETL
Show reports
Show publish
Go to PowerBI.com
Show dataset, reports, dashboard
In dashboard, type the following q&a :
Q&a
distributors that distribute breads
distributors that distribute banana
Distributors in USA
Qtyconsumed of tea versus coffee
distributors by country map show quantity consumed
