vaccine against it. Tetanus is caused by contamination of puncture wounds by the bacteria Clostridium
tetani. Tetanus has been recognized for centuries. The name of the bacterium is derived from two
ancient Greek words tetanos and teinein, meaning taut and stretched, which describes the way that the
neurotoxin releases by the bacteria, tetanospasm, affects the skeletal muscle of those infected. C. tetani
is a gram positive, spore forming, anaerobic bacterium. It is usually found in its dormant form or
spores, and transforms into the rod shaped bacterium only when it multiplies. The bacterium usually
produce the spore at one end of the rod. The spores can last many years in soil, dust, and animal waste
and are very resistant to extreme temperatures. This makes infection of a wound with C. Tetani spores

The Fighter Movie Analysis
The Fighter (2010) directed by David O Russell is a captivating and passionate sports drama. The film
was easily able to portray the journey that the Eklund Ward family took on Micky s road to success in
a realistic way which made it easy for me to understand and develop emotions towards the film and
the characters in it. It was an exceptional watch which captured my full attention. The film made me
realise there is always a struggle with success. I saw and experience this while watching the film and I
am able to take this new found awareness with me into the real world when the film is over. The
performance of the characters and the realistic portrayal of drugs in this film are major aspects that
make this film so beguiling.
In the film the main character Micky Ward is a very promising boxer. Being a boxer is a family thing,
his mother, Alice Ward, is his manager and his stepbrother brother, Dicky Eklund, is his trainer. Dicky
is unreliable and Alice is very resilient. The two were very controlling over Micky and feel they have
some sense of supremacy of him. However, even though Micky is working hard to try and make the
best of his situation, he keeps getting blows that knock him down. They come in from the left, the
right and all other directions, the hits that he receives seem to be the consequences of having Dicky

Although the questionnaire and interview processes are useful in gaining a better understanding of the
cultural competence of law enforcement agencies, they are not helpful in improving the cultural
competency of those agencies. This is where instituting mandatory cultural competency training
comes into play. For example, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission proposed steps and
recommendations to increase cultural competency and one of those steps was to develop and deploy
effective EEO and diversity/inclusion training for different state and local law enforcement audiences,
including department leadership, human resources, and hiring officials, union leadership, and
individual officers. (Yang, 2015). While this recommendation pertains to hiring practices, it would
also be very beneficial for law enforcement agencies to have trainings. Cultural competency training is
important and would greatly improve relations between law enforcement and the community.
A study by the Pew Research Center found that very few people in the U.S. say police forces do well
in treating people equally. (Pew Research Center, 2014). It is likely that the results from the Pew study
would be similar if the study were limited to Texas. Perhaps the results would be even worse in Texas
