My Papa s Waltz And For My Daughter
Throughout the second half of this semester, we have read poems that all had some type of
comparison. It may not have been an obvious comparison, but most of these poems had at least one. In
the poems, My Papa s Waltz and For My Daughter, both describe a beloved family member. They both
put in clear detail of the positive and negative things about said family member. These poems both
describe someone misunderstanding or mistreating another. It is amazing how each of these poems can
describe or be told about a certain problem and how they all can relate in some type of way. The
reason behind that is because everyone no matter who they are all goes through the same situations as
the next person. Whether it is, gender, age, religion, race or even education, there is something that
can connect one to another. In the poem, My Papa s Waltz, by Theodore Roethke, the narrator is the
small boy mentioned in the second line. He thoroughly describes every little thing about what his
father is doing; this shows the large amount of imagery in the poem. This connection is obviously
between a boy and his father; hence the title of the poem. Speaking of the title of the poem, it is
exactly what is named. A waltz is a song written in ¾ time, this is normally a very intimate type of
dance (Shmoop). There may be a danced being performed, but do not be fooled. Eventually, we realize
that this poem is a lot worse that what most would originally think. This poem quickly goes from good

Explain How To Make The Nfl Great Again !
How to make the NFL great again!
1) The professional sports leagues need to partner with the major sportsbooks/casinos
2) Continue to develop direct to consumer broadcast formats
3) Improve the game flow and shorten the game length
The National Football League
The NFL is comprised of 32 teams that compete for the Lombardi Trophy every year. Each team plays
16 regular season games over a 17 week span. The league is divided into two conferences, the AFC
and the NFC. The final team remaining from the AFC and NFC competes against each other in the
championship game, known as the Super Bowl.
Most of the NFL s revenue comes from the national television deals. These television deals are highly
sought after and worth billions of dollars. After the television deals, the other sources of revenue are
corporate sponsorships, licensing, and merchandise sales. (Novy Williams)
The National Football League on top
In a Gallup poll conducted in December of last year, football came out on top, with 37% of Americans
stating it as their favorite sport to watch. Next came basketball at 11% and then baseball at 9%. At its
peak, the NFL was the most popular in 2007 at 43%. Since 1964, the NFL has remained America s
favorite sport to watch (Gallup).
Further evidence of its popularity, in the 2016/2017 season, $13.3 billion ... Show more content on

These leagues have been lobbying to help overturn the old law and make sports wagering legal
nationwide. The National Basketball Association is currently in talks to receive a 1% integrity rights
fee from all sportsbooks. The 1% fee not only allows the NBA to be compensated for its intellectual
property, but also allows the NBA to control and monitor wagering data to keep the integrity of the
game. (Liptak Draper) By following the NBA s model, the NFL has an opportunity to not only grow
their fan base but also increase their revenue

Analysis Of The Book David Garland
David Garland begins by asserting: We quickly grow used to the way things are. His description of our
contemporary culture of control, and of our acceptance of it, calls to mind the mythical frog in the
saucepan: dropped into hot water the frog is startled and leaps out; but if the heat is turned up
gradually, it sits there without noticing until it boils to death. In our case our in the book refers to
Britain and the United States most of us have failed to notice a quite rapid turning up of the heat.
Americans, Garland observes, now seem accustomed to living in a country that executes an average of
more than two people per week and has a prison population of more than 2 million. Britons, with
extraordinarily little protest, have adjusted to living with an Orwellian level of closed circuit TV
surveillance and a prison population whose growth rate, if not its actual number, is beginning to rival
that of the US. Such a state of affairs, he notes, only 30 years ago would have seemed shocking, even
to the best informed and most up to date observer. Indeed, he insists, the trajectory of British and
American crime control over the past three decades has been almost exactly the contrary of that which
was anticipated as recently as 1970 .
The Culture of Control describes this trajectory, explains how and why it confounded expectations,
and concludes with a view of what it portends. I shall quibble in a moment with the book s optimism
about where it is headed, but first

Traditional Education vs. Online Education
Nowadays, education is becoming one of the fundamental things in a human lifetime; most people are
trying to achieve a higher education. As technology develops considerably, it has bearings on every
area of our life, even in the way of education. The development of technology has a large impact on
education. Before this progression of technology, the education system was only traditional. Currently,
the education system has been changed. The development of technology has allowed the education
system online along with traditionally. Traditional and online instructions are both great ways to learn.
While both types of instructions have the same purpose of educating students having good skills about
everything, but there are some significant differences between them such as flexibility, learning the
course content, communication, and the cost.
The first distinction between traditional education and online education is flexibility. The motivation
of flexible learning is offering students choices about when, where and how they learn. It assists
students to acquire skills and characteristics to adapt successfully to shift. Traditional education
requires a particular place or environment for learning and instruction. It limits the number of students
that can study at the same time and it would depend on the size of class and education institution.
Moreover, traditional

How Does Plath Use Metaphors In Munich Mannequins
Plath s use of metaphor is effective in highlighting her depressive state, Plath often used metaphors
frequently and used them as a contrast to her own reality. Through Plath s poetry, we understand that
she was conflicted about being a woman and often viewed the world with a very childlike mindset.
Plath s poem The Munich Mannequins , is a poem which floats between two images of womanly
barrenness through the image of anonymous mannequins to the hotels of Munich where the occupants
are just as anonymous as the mannequins we are introduced to in the first few stanzas. The anonymous
characters that Plath creates in this poem suggests to the reader about her stillborn child who she never
knew and never got to meet. The first few stanzas are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

begins with an unequivocal, Perfection is terrible, it cannot have children. The word choice of
perfection refers to the opening image of mannequins and suggests the idea that women in Plath s time
were either able to bear children or were a perfectly formed mannequin. Through this quotation, we
understand that Plath was confused about what society wanted from women and what she was to think
about these views. In many of her poems, such as Lady Lazarus , she tries to defeat the stigma
attached to not having children and often tries to fight against the views that her culture had, however
in poems like The Munich Mannequins we see Plath conforming to these views by degrading and
dehumanising these perfect women. Plath dehumanises these childless

Andrew Wyeth Christmas Morning Essay
Within all life, there is one unifier death. How can it be described? What happens afterwards? Do
people live on in memory, in portrait, in soul, or are they simply... gone? Andrew Wyeth brings these
questions to light in his painting Christmas Morning, created in 1944. With an obviously winter
landscape developed through tones of silver, grey, gold, and black, the theme of death is emphasized
in the ephemeral setting and single star in the far distance, as well as within the dying figure laying to
rest in the bottom of the landscape, gazing out upon the rolling hills, north star, and a shadow walking
upon the glowing path that melts out of their shining body. At subtle peace, this figure has her head
wrapped, hands folded, and face turned away from the viewer s eye. The blanket snugly wrapped
around her liquefies into the trail snaking across the valley. The catch to this painting that seems to
bring into question life after death, as well as the religious connotations ... Show more content on

There is, of course, the suggestion that the soul is moving on in this painting due to the shadow of a
figure, advancing down the path. However, is this figure here because of her belief in the afterlife? Is
she perhaps not dying at all, but in a state of mind in her sickliness that she is hallucinating loved ones
or her own soul moving on from whatever horrors or loveliness her life held? Perhaps she is looking at
the path all souls travel down on their way to whatever lies waiting. Perhaps the fact that the painting
was created near the end of World War II is significant, and she is waiting for her loved ones to return
or, to join them in death. Her body seems to hold tranquility and peace, but her face is turned away,
expression hidden from the viewer. She may be at peace, but it is also very possible that she could be
in pain, and we cannot see

Hate In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is a name synonymous with the most illustrious and well recognised plays of all
time. Written by easily the most remarkable playwright of the English language, William Shakespeare,
this tragedy portrays the dire narrative of two star crossed lovers from feuding families whom are
engrossed in a taboo love. Despite often playing as a drama of love, Romeo and Juliet is truly a play
that details the complex and bilateral relationship between love and hate. This relationship without
doubt shows that in this context, neither love nor hate could exist without the other. Romeo and Juliet
often allude to the reciprocal relationship between love and hate, it could even be said that the mutual
hate their two families share further intensifies their love. This clash of the two powerful emotions of
love and hate ultimately leads to the triumph of love over hate. ... Show more content on

This hinting from the main characters demonstrates just how vital the intense relationship between
love and hate is in the play. A key point in the tragedy is where Juliet states rather bluntly; My only
love sprung from my only hate (I, v, 138). This candid statement from Juliet exhibits that even she
recognizes the relationship between love and hate. In speaking these words, Juliet apprehends this
relationship, and is aware of the fact that without Romeo (a person of the very house she is supposed
to hate), she would not be in love. Simply put, this quote shows that Juliet understands the relationship
between love and hate. It could even be said that the common hate between the two families further
intensifies their

Franklin County Reconstruction Home Essay
The purpose of this website is to show the difference during the Reconstruction between a northern
city, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and a southern city, Augusta County, Virginia. It offers rooms

The three periods were the Eve of War, the War Years, and the Aftermath. The Eve of War provided
statistics of 1860, church records, images, newspaper articles, letters, and census records. During the
eve of the war Augusta had more slaves, even though only 207 households owned slaves out of 807
households in the county. Also, despite the amount of land the county had, it did not have the best soil

At the end of the war there were 16,602 more people in Franklin County than Augusta County. There
were 15, 289 more whites than blacks in Augusta and 40, 441 more in Franklin. Franklin s farms were
still worth about twice as much as Augusta s. Methodist churches were more prevalent in Augusta and
Reformed German churches in Franklin. Franklin also had more manufacturing facilities in 1870 than
Augusta. In the Freedom s Bureau record I read a letter to Orlando Brown for help to transport a Black
woman and her five children to a hospital because she was poor and had no home. It s crazy to know
how slow mail traveled from place to place during that time period and how long, if at all, she had to
wait to get help. I also read the letter of Amelia from Augusta County to her brother. She was telling
him of an eighty year old Indian Man who came to her school telling stories of war and of life being a
slave. She wrote that he was a doctor of the colored people. From the Franklin County letters, I read
Milton Crawford s letter to his parents. He is stationed were General Lee surrendered his army. He is
saying the poor people where is mother was located were nothing compared to the poor people there.

Conquest Of Ai Analysis
The Conquest of Ai Joshua 7:1 9 outlines the initial failed attack on Ai. One possible reading is to say
that the omission of YHWH s voice in the attack is the reason that they were defeated. While there is
some truth that can be extracted from this, I think it s more beneficial to note that the text attributes
this failure to the poor military advice given to Joshua (Joshua 7:3). In addition, it is also helpful to
note the lack of reason given for the Israelites needing to take on Ai. Unlike the two occurrences with
Moses that I have already mentioned, Ai posed to no threat to the Israelites. Unlike Jericho, YHWH
gave no command regarding whether Ai was to be attacked or not. Verses 6 10 show Joshua to fall

Because I think that it is an essential lesson for the nation of the United States to heed. We are now
that military force striking all over the world. We have done it so much that we have masked God s
voice because of our love for military activity. We send people out in his name we bless the work that
soldiers do, including the violence that they enact with others. If the United States is truly 83%
Christian, then I plead for more people to analyze this story of the Israelites and the city of Ai, and that
we learn the lessons clear to us from the text.
Military activity, particularly when it is unwarranted or for a single nation s benefit, silences the voice
of God in a society. The silencing of God allows for people to falsely speak on his behalf. It s
something that we have seen more clearly in modern times through the unrest in the Middle East, but
it has been a part of our culture for a long time now. This activity needs to cease immediately, or we
risk becoming a people who profess a loving God, and yet continually sow destruction and violence
into the world. And what kind of world are we living in, if God cannot even get a word

It has been said that Arnold should have been the captured and killed instead of Andre. Major Andre
made multiple impacts on the US National Defense. While the mission he set out to complete failed,
Andre broke down the safety net the US thought they had. By gaining the trust of Arnold and setting
up the plan to take over West Point, Andre was the hole in what was set to be a perfect American plot.
If he did not get caught the outcome for the war would have been a different scene. The Americans
thought they had a fool proof plan when in reality they had one of the biggest traitors history has ever
seen in Benedict Arnold. For Andre to get Peggy on board to help with getting Arnold on board took
time and patience. The plan would have worked fully if the ship, Vulture, would not have been moved
downstream after Andre got the information from Arnold. This whole incident made the Americans
realize that there could be more spies among them, and therefore Washington had Andre executed, to
set an example for future spies. The second impact on US National Defense deals with the
classification system that we use in the Army and surrounding agencies today. Information like the
plans and layouts for a military installation would be classified secret or top secret today.
Unfortunately, in the 1700s, there was no system of classifying documents. This could have been a

Emotional Intelligence among High and Low Self-Monitors
Introduction Humans communicate in a wide variety of different ways. Some of the ways we
communicate such as speaking directly to another person is easy to recognize as a form of
communication. On the other hand, some of the ways we give and receive information with those
around us is not as easily recognizable. Communicating nonverbally is something we as humans do
every single day of our lives though we may not be able to pinpoint exact circumstances for when
nonverbal communication is required or when it is the best form of communication for the situation.

Low Self monitoring Low self monitors have really taken to Polonius advice of being true to their own
self. Individuals that do not conform their behavior to fit in with social demands have been labeled as
low self monitors. These people are controlled from within and do not let social situations impact their
behavior. The self image that they present is accurate of their true attitude and affective states (Mill,
1984). Low self monitoring individuals express their true feelings and attitudes and seem to expect
others to do the same, often accepting the behavior of others at face value (Mill, 1984). Far removed
from the chameleon like nature of the high self monitors, low self monitors either do not possess the
ability to mimic behavior or are unwilling to adapt to social expectations and demands (Mehra, Brass,
Kilduff, 2001). While high self monitors may have a large number of acquaintances that they have
friendly interactions with, low self monitors are more likely to have a smaller group of people that
they are actually friends with. People that have a lower level of self monitoring are often more
committed and attached to employers, dating partners, and friends than those with a high level of self
monitoring skill (Kilduff, Day, 1994). When compared to people that identify as high self monitors,
those who possess a lower skill of self monitoring are less likely to put effort into discovering

Adams conceptualized fairness by stating that employees determine whether they have been treated
fairly at work by comparing their own payoff ratio of outcomes (such as pay or status) to inputs (such

became a catalyst for a musical revolution. Black music needed to be introduced by a white artist in
order to appeal to an audience outside of the African American community, and Elvis was the one who
could do it (McKeen). He had the charisma, the charm, the look, and the moves. During the rise of his
fame, Elvis was invited to be on Milton Berle s Variety Show. On his second appearance, his

African American music to primarily Caucasian areas of the country. The use of the radio had a

Geb s Role In Ancient Egyptian Religion
Who is Geb?
As the God of the earth, Geb was one of the most important of ancient Egypt s gods. According to the
Heliopolis doctrine, he came from a line of important gods. His parents were Shu, the god of air, and
Tefnut, the goddess of moisture, who were in turn the children of Atum. Osiris, Isis, Seth and
Nephthys were the children of Geb and Nut, and together these gods made up the Heliopolitan Ennad.
However, it should be noted that Geb may also be referred to in various literature as Seb, Keb, Kebb
or Gebb. After Atum, the four deities (Shu, Tefnut, Geb, and Nut) established the Cosmos, whereas the
second set of deities (Osiris, Isis, Seth and Nephthys) mediated between humans and the cosmos.
Geb is usually represented in the form of a man who wears either the white crown to which is added
the Atef crown, or a goose. The Goose was his sacred animal and symbol. As the God of earth, the

Therefore he is one of the gods who watch the weighing of the heart of the deceased in the Judgment

their escape from the earth but the wicked were held fast by Geb.
Religious texts show that there was no special city or district set apart for the god Geb, but a portion of
the temple estates in Apollinopolis Magna were called the Aat of Geb, and a name of Dendera was the
home of the children of Geb, . The chief seat of the god appears to have been at Heliopolis, where he
and his female counterpart Nut produced the great Egg from which sprang the Sun god under the form

Wes Anderson Themes And Techniques
Wes Anderson has been recognised as one of the most successful directors in the cinematic world with
a distinct authorship towards his work. The auteurs approach of analysing films include the more
important elements that makes up a film such as: editing, cinematography, lighten, casting, themes,
story line, art direction and aesthetic style (Rosenberg, 2010). Anderson s films all possess distinct
techniques that he was heavily involved in producing. The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) featured many
of his signature techniques such as using the recurring themes, filming styles, type of music and
backdrop to give audiences a better understanding of the film and imprinting a certain tone throughout
the film.
The tone of Wes Anderson films is perhaps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be noticed that Anderson s cinematic choices has enabled the underlying reality of his storyline
to be masked, providing the characters an avenue to explore his infamous recurring theme choices
such as the loss of innocence, grief, dysfunctional families and the harsh but simple realities of
entering adulthood (MacDowell, 2012). For example, Anderson masked the Tenenbaum s true
dysfunctional situation with his cinematic choices; mainly, the synergy of the stillness of the camera
and acting of the characters, to portray an incongruous image of the film. One example where this was
evident in would be the scene in which Margot s series of shocking experiences were shown from
smoking at the age of 12 to being secretly being married. Anderson portrayed these series of events in
Margot s life more lightly than it should have been through Margot s monotonous expressions while
carrying out these experiences as well as her ex husband, Raleigh St Clair s neutral expressions when
he found out about the extent of how secretive Margot was. One would expect a bigger reaction from
Raleigh, however, the way the severity of Margot s experiences were being covered contributed to
portraying an incongruous image of the film as it ignored the reality of the way he must have felt
while finding out about this hidden side of Margot. Instead, Anderson focused on highlighting on

Leadership Of An Old Chinese Proverb
According to Bass (1981) leadership can be defined in different ways: It is an act of influencing
activities of an organized group in its quest to set goals and also to achieve certain goals. He also
defined leadership to mean the influence that somebody exercises in a situation by means of
communication in order to attain a specified goal. However in order to be a leader you require a
variety of qualities. There is no one specific quality that makes one person a better leader; it s more of
a compilation of traits building an ideology as to how you as leaders handle situations. The traits I try
and to reflect on as are; Self assurance, maturity, high energy, team orientation, and charisma. As a
leader I try to incorporate these traits along with the philosophy of an old Chinese Proverb; Tell me, I
ll forget, show me, I ll remember, Involve me, I ll understand. This reminds me that not everyone
learns of understands situations the same way, I must as a leader be able to reach the masses to have
followers. Throughout my life there have been many people and instances shaping me into the
person/leader I am today. I used to watch leaders to see how they observed situations, storing those
moments into my memory bank as knowledge for later use. While I thought this was a good way to
becoming a better leader, I found myself trying to employ processes based on past results. This
methodology had very little success; if one idea didn t work I would just try something else I had seen

C. S. Lewis Miracles Essay
In the book Miracles C.S. Lewis discusses what miracles are and challenges the reader, Christian or
not, to think philosophically on how and why they happen. He uses ideas such as naturalism and
supernaturalism to help readers understand the idea of miracles, but also makes sure to point out that
miracles do happen, and they happen for a reason. That reason being because God intended them to
happen to maintain control on Earth as well as show his sovereignty. Some people may think of things
being out of control in the world to be riots, an uncontrollable plague, or even a three year old kid
throwing a tantrum, but in reality what if out of control is anything that has resulted from the fall,
anything that God had not intended? C.S. Lewis states, By definition, miracles must of course
interrupt the usual course of Nature...in the very act of so doing, assert all the more the unity and self
consistency of total reality at some deeper level (97). Miracles are not always prevalent at times, but

Rosa Parks Heroes
Everyone has somehow been a hero to someone, in one point of their life, even though they may not
have known at the time or was recognized for it. They may have shown heroic qualities or stood up
for someone, maybe even for people who were too shy to do it themselves. Heroes are quick thinking,
determined people that put the needs of others before themselves, like Rosa Parks because of her
refusal to move seats on the bus. But, heroes don t wear capes or special costumes, like in movies,
they are just typical, ordinary people.

powers?). This shows how you don t need to be able to fly to be a hero or anything like that. You can
just do what you do, and help others that may need your help, in different situations. There s no right
or wrong was to do it! Another example is that, in September 2001, the twin towers in New York were
both knocked down by two different planes, and immediately, thousands of emergency personnel,
including firefighters, police, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and paramedics, responded to
the scene to help rescue as many people as possible (Do all heroes have super powers?). This shows
that these people weren t dressed in capes or anything, they were there to save the people in the
towers. There are many more examples of people from everyday life, other than this one, that show
that everyone can be heroes in some way or another, and we see examples of these people everyday!

heroes are, and now you know that you don t need those things to be a hero, you can come as you

The Folly Of Secularism By Jeffrey Stout
The Muslim headscarf, or Hijab has been a matter of ongoing debate and controversy in the secular
state that is France. Secularism does not exist in a vacuum in France it builds upon complicated
emotional inheritance, specifically the negotiation between the religious and state secularism which
appears to continually lead to an image of hostility being constructed for Islam, despite the promotion
of universality that is allegedly key to the French Republic. This essay discusses the Hijab in France in
regard to Jeffrey Stout s The Folly of Secularism and is structured in three main parts. It looks at how
Secularism is intensely debated and contested, the way in which event intellectual, political, social
shifts are changing through analysing firstly the controversy itself, then laïcité. Secondly, through
looking to different aspects of French secular society; law, media and education. and thirdly, as per
Stouts framework, discusses how the topic takes us to the heart of the most pressing issues of today,
Gender politics, French state personality/nationhood and the Islamophobia that is a result of all of
these things. The headscarf affair was generated by multiple social anxieties, namely the preservation
of laïcité. The headscarf Controversy in France illuminates the politics of secularity in the way that it
reaches across all social and political aspects of secular society in France. Overall, this essay will

Naturalism As A Genre Of Naturalism
Naturalism as a genre depicts commonplace happenings dictated by powers larger than humans, such
as nature or society. As Phillip Barrish puts it, Literary works ... traditionally identified with
naturalism depict characters whose lives are controlled or determined by immense, impersonal forces
that the characters themselves can barely understand, let alone effectively resist (116). Obviously, not
all naturalist literature is created equal; different authors choose to focus on different aspects of the
genre. Specifically, this study will be exploring the differences between divergent interpretations of
naturalism: the first, a story controlled by the forces of nature, and, the second, a story manipulated by
the power of societal structures.
First, let s take a closer look at these two branches of naturalism. The naturalism based in nature
involves both the nature of the human body, including things such as hunger and death, and the
influences of the natural world itself, such as hurricanes and snowstorms. This varies significantly
from the form of naturalism that roots itself in the authorities of society such as the economy and
social class limitations. While these two subdivisions of naturalism are perceivably unique from one
another, Barrish explains that naturalist writers frequently blur together the natural and social orders
(116). That is to say, there is a fine line between the two that is repeatedly smudged by authors. Jack

Speech On Noise Pollution
Noise pollution is becoming an increasing problem in urban life and there is no doubt that road traffic
is one of the greatest contributors. Noise on city roads is growing fast and exceeding human tolerance
limits due to increase in vehicle population and poor maintenance of roads as well as vehicles.
The ambient noise levels of busiest intersections of Gwalior city have been measured and following
conclusion are drawn.
1. The noise levels at all observation sites are well above the acceptable limits. The acceptable limits
are as follows: Table no. 3.9 [AMBIENT AIR QUALITY STANDARDS IN RESPECT OF NOISE]
Category of zones Day time limits in dB(A) Night time limits in dB(A)

Unwanted use of ambulance siren is also a major factor of noise pollution in the Gwalior.
10. Main problem on the road of Gwalior is encroachment of roads by shopkeepers and hawkers. This
leads to reduction in road width and create vehicular traffic congestion and results in large number of
noise pollution. This creates the narrow width of roads which are responsible for noise pollution. This
is known as CANYON effect.
11. Excessive sound will create physiological and psychological damages to human beings like mental
stress, poor concentration, cardiovascular diseases etc.
4.2 Measures to Control Noise Pollution
Noise level at all the sites in Gwalior city, considered in this work, is well above the acceptable limits
of tolerance. Therefore immediate steps are required to be taken to check the problem. Following are
some measures which can control some amount of noise.
Standards should be decided to maintain the condition of roads and vehicles. And they should be
properly implemented.
The design of old vehicles should be changed example tempo, auto rickshaw etc. Noise creating
vehicles should not be allowed.
Vehicles older than 15 years should not be allowed.

Joseph Mccarthy And The Mccarthy Era
In the United States, the 1950s was a time riddled with heightened political repression due to the fear
of communism. This fear was instilled in the people by the American government, who saw the
growing fondness of communism around the world as a threat to the American way of life. With
Senator Joseph McCarthy as the head of the communist witch hunt, this period in time is often
referred to as the McCarthy Era. The McCarthy Era is marked by unjust accusations of disloyalty to
the United States without consideration for appropriate evidence. During this time, thousands of
American citizens were accused of communism and communist sympathy. Of these thousands, a
particular case stands out amongst the others. This was the case of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, the
first Americans ever executed for espionage against the United States. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg
were a married couple who were accused by the United States government of conspiracy against
America by running the operation of a Soviet spy ring that was leaking information about the atomic
bomb back to the Soviet Union. Although Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were both eventually convicted
as spies, there was little hard evidence ever presented at their trial. However, many co conspirators
testified for the trials, which would eventually lead to their conviction. The Rosenberg s may have
been spies for Soviet Russia, but they were American citizens nonetheless who deserved a just trial.

The Impact Of Social Identity On Education
THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL IDENTITY ON EDUCATION No one can deny the fact that United
States is rapidly becomes a more culturally and ethnically diverse nation. If the information from The
Census Bureau which projects that by the year 2100, the U.S. minority population will become the
majority with non Hispanic whites making up only 40% of the U.S. population is anything to go by, it
is clear beyond any reasonable doubt that we need to prepare the coming generations to comfortably
embrace this change (Great Schools Staff, 2015). The subject of social diversity can therefore no
longer be ignored since as a matter of fact, its impacts are already here with us. Public schools are
becoming more diverse, and both the teachers and the students are feeling the impact. Teachers should
therefore be actively involved in preparing their students to be tolerant to this change and teaching
them how to interact in a diverse environment. As teachers, we find ourselves in this unique position,
charged with the responsibility of ensuring that every student feels valued irrespective of their social
identities. Of course we too have social identities, we even experience situations where teachers show
some elements of discrimination against each other due to their social identities, but as a responsible
teacher, you should not allow this to happen around you, especially when you are in a position to
make it right. I believe that no student at any given time should feel discriminated by me based on

Overhauser Effect Essay
Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) through Overhauser effect has several applications including
Overhauser enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (OMRI) and considerable interest in the field of
biomedical imaging [1 8]. Recent experiments on common free radicals are often used such as family
of nitroxide free radicals, and several studies have done to determine which derivatives give the best
signal enhancement [7 11]. For low frequency in vivo electron spin resonance imaging (ESRI) and as
contrast agents for OMRI, nitroxyl radicals have been used as spin probes [4,12], and successfully
obtained images of tissue water protons in the vicinity of paramagnetic radicals and achieved in vivo

In ESRI, both spatial and the spectral information of the exogenously administered spin probes are
obtained. Hence, ESRI often presents the in vivo of the spin probes without complementary
anatomical information. In contrast, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) gives superior anatomic
information. OMRI is a double resonance technique that depends on the Overhauser effect. It coupled
the advantages of MRI with the sensitivity of ESR, by making use of the Overhauser effect [4,16]. In
this phenomenon, the relatively stronger magnetic moment of the electron is used to transfer of
polarization from unpaired electron spins to the coupled proton spins results in the enhancement of the
NMR signal in regions of the sample containing free radical, revealing its spatial distribution in the
final image. This leads to the possibility of NMR imaging at very low magnetic fields [4,9,12,17 26].
These advantages motivated us to explore, for the first time, the capability of OMRI for simultaneous
molecular imaging of redox reactions using nitroxyl radicals. Nitroxyl radicals have been widely used

Why The Song Pumped Up Kicks
Would you ever think a song about killing people would ever be a top hit in the music industry?
Pumped Up Kicks , a popular song that debuted in 2011 by Foster the People is about a psychotic
individual who wants to get revenge on the rich people by killing them. Mark Foster, the leading band
member of Foster the People wrote Pumped Up Kicks to spread awareness about mental illness. The
meaning behind the song is deeper than what is actually said in the lyrics. The song is precisely
focusing on the growing trend of mental illness and how it has affected people through the years.
When writing this song Mark Foster got inside a psychotic individual s mind to get a better

A Cultural Determination of Meaning Essay
HUM 101 010
Written Assignment 4
A Cultural Determination of Meaning Throughout historic culture, we can identify several changes in
philosophical thought. Through the emergence of romanticism, we see a realization that, through
passion, the paths of the hero and saint can be merged. In the agony and ecstasy of Michelangelo, it is
obvious how the paths of hero and saint can be merged in the form of art, to attempt to reconcile the
tension between them. In the enlightenment patterns of cultural mutation, we begin to realize that the
way we converge the two paths depends on the historical context in which we view them. And finally,
as a response to his cultural climate, Kierkegaard s portrayal of Abraham shows how the hero saint ...

This stems directly from the Greek ideal of the tragic hero and builds on romanticism, and
Michelangelo portrays this in his Roman Pieta. Through the idea of the parent s loss of the child, he is
able to display heroism in the mother, through the depiction of the biblical figures of Mary and Jesus.
Michelangelo is reacting to a certain cultural context by combining contemplation with faith the
Florentine Renaissance and the timeless dynamic of human existence that he observed while in Rome.
This leads us to the fact that these thought patterns are influenced by the culture in which they are
observed through the changes in philosophical thought in the enlightenment. During the enlightenment
patterns of cultural mutations, there is a growing emphasis on morality to determine one s faith.
Luther describes the individual as being responsible for his/her identity as a child of God. Science re
inserts the impersonal worldview of the hero into a Christian culture. The rise of capitalism brings the
idea that human identity is based on a cultural environment which is organized in economic terms
with an emphasis on competitive advantage. All of these mutations point to the fact that the tensions
between the two paths are unable to be merged into one path; they swing in one direction or the other,
based on the cultural climate. This brings us to a need to define one path

Sexualization In Brave New World
Today s society is very busy and quick paced. The book Brave New World is also this way. There are
also other things in the book due to the nature of future storytelling. Brave New World tells the future
very well with aspects that can be seen in modern society today. Those aspects are Drugs,
sexualization, and rapid manufacturing. That is why Brave New World is so much like the world we
have come to love.
Drugs are a big version of the book that keeps the society together. It keeps the people calm and
relaxed but not happy because that is a feeling. Drugs in modern society are the same way. People use
them to relax themselves and take their minds off what problems are in the world and their lives.
Soma is the drug in the book, in real life

Rituals That Help Society Cope With Death Essay
Rituals that Help Society Cope with Death
Throughout time, people have used various mechanisms to help with the process of bereavement.
These processes are defined as death rituals , and different cultures, societies and religions have their
own specific way of experiencing these death rituals. In ways that are similar or different from one
another, death rituals help with the process of coping with the loss of a dear family member, a beloved
member of a religious organization, or a recognized member of society. Death rituals are practiced by
every culture and religion, and the main focus of these procedures is to help family members relieve
emotional pain caused by the tragic, unexpected or expected loss of a loved one.
One of the main purposes of this paper is to define death rituals and why it is so important for people
to perform them. It is also important to understand that not mater the differences in background,
religion, social status or heath, everyone is prone to participating in the rituals. According to Reeve,
(2011) the definition of death related rituals are a ceremony, directly involving at least one person and
the symbols of the loss and, usually, directly and indirectly involving others. The ritual involves
heightened meaning and emotion and is often experienced as spiritual. It is focused around a specific
situation or event and involves out of the ordinary activities. As part of this definition of death ritual, it
is important to understand that every

Persuasive Essay On Sports And Politics
In recent years we as a country have seen a huge spike in instances where sports and politics collide.
Two examples would include the Anthem protests and the Hands up don t shoot entrance into the
stadium by the National Football League s St. Louis Rams. If you take a deeper look back into the
history of the United States you see many more examples of different varieties throughout every sport.
Most notably one of the greatest boxers of all time, Mohammed Ali, refusing to be drafted to a war he
disagreed with and Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in baseball.
Baseball is easily described as America s pastime. Personally, baseball is my favorite sport to play and
attend. It is pure irony that the earliest known mention of baseball in the United States occurred in my
home state of Massachusetts in Pittsfield in 1792. It was recorded because a law was made banning
the playing of a baseball game within eighty yards of the town meeting house. It is important to note
that the first mention of baseball in history was in reference to a political matter. The game was played
under modern day rules by upper middle class white men in the 1840 s by the New York
Knickerbockers. In 1857, baseball officially was in full swing with sixteen New York ball clubs
joining the first ever chapter of the National Association of Baseball. (Baseball Reference). Baseball
has had numerous instances where specific players or teams have faced some sort of social/political
adversity that

Pedagogy From The Greek Paidagogia Is The Art And...
Pedagogy from the greek Paidagogia is the art and science of education and the way we teach. Interest
in studying pedagogy and how effective pedagogy is transmitted has increased in recent years and
there are a multitude of sources that we can explore and analyse in order to answer that question. (M.
K. Smith 2012a). Education is about giving time to discover new concepts whilst being encouraged to
do so in a social environment (M, K, Smith 2012b). Education in general is a very practical activity
and is concerned with changing old principles as well as teaching new perceptions. Many people have
the misconception that pedagogy is only about teaching, it has other forms, a process of living and not
a preparation of future living. (John Dewey 1963). The process of education and teaching is carried
out by several people during our lives, parents and carers, work colleagues, acquaintances and friends
and specialist educators (M. K. Smith 2012c).
A pedagogue in Ancient Greek society was a very important person. There was a noticeable difference
between a pedagogue and a teacher. A pedagogue was very much part of the household of the young
learner, often slaves who were trusted by their master to guide their children through everyday life.
The role of a pedagogue was to act as a companion, ensuring safety and to act as a guardian during
schooling. The pedagogue was responsible for most aspects of the young child s life in the early years
from aged seven to aged sixteen and they

Volcom is a manufacturer of Boardsport related clothing and accessories. Based in Velcro Valley south
of Los Angeles the company s core values speak volumes about their marketing and sales goals and
objectives. The Volcom philosophy, stated as, youth against establishment , implies that their aim is, at
the very least, different from normal capitalist Free Trade established ways and means, and their
history highlights the differences. The new Volcom New Future initiative is an example of their sales

Volcom has found, or was founded in (and is nurturing) the boardsport niche in apparel and
accessories. It does not look to grow quickly, but to take advantage of this niche.
It is also expanding the ancillary markets to this niche in both music and video. Music and video have
been a small portion of the Volcom portfolio (about 1% of earnings), but based upon the fact that the
music and video arenas are wonderful marketing tools and that they are making, and not costing,
profit they are worth much more than this 1%. Add to that the fact that at any moment a video or audio
component to catch on and rise to the top. Such an event (or events) would add exponentially to the
bottom line. Between profits and marketing, a star could mean millions added to the net income.
Volcom is also gradually expanding its foreign presence (income from foreign markets up by 125% in

Alliteration In Edgar Allen Poe s The Bells
Alliteration
a number of words, having the same first consonant sound, occur close together in a series.
Example
What a tale of terror, now, their turbulency tells! (38). Poe, The Bells
Function:
Context
In The Bells by Edgar Allan Poe, four different bells ring out at different times in the speaker s life.
The silver bells pour out a sense of happiness and joy as they are tinkling on the sledge. Golden bells
ring out a warm and rich sound as a wedding takes place. The poem takes a turn as bronze alarm bells
send out a sound of warning for a fire. The line is presented as the bronze bells ring out for a sudden
shift of mood. That mood grows in intensity in the next stanza, where iron bells strike a heavy and
dark tone as they signal a death.

In the air of night, the bronze alarm bells scream out a tale of terror that their turbulency tells to warn
the people of the fire. The reiterated harsh t sounds sinister, adding to the horrific mood of the stanza.
Tension builds up as the bells lead to the catastrophic fire. The harsh t grows malicious as it reflects
the horror of the fire. It is a tense sound that almost agitates the reader, allowing the speaker to set the
chaotic mood. The alliteration creates a cacophonous atmosphere for the setting in which the fire takes

Dirt Track Racing Research Paper
The particular community I consider to be affiliated with is the local dirt track race car community.
Dirt track racing is a sport in which race cars perform on a dirt or clay surfaced oval track. There are
various race car classes that range from Hornets which are considered the least expensive all the way
up to the Modified, which is the most expensive class of race car to run on the race track. I personally
identify myself to be included in such a community due to the fact that ever since I was the age of
four, my father took up the sport of racing Modified s every weekend from March to October, and this
is ultimately how I was introduced to the race track family (community). At the age of six my brother
was very intrigued by the sport of racing and convinced my father to allow him to follow in his
footsteps, and also pursue the love and dedication for the sport. When my father and brother took up
the sport of racing it gave me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the second you pull up to the race track you catch a glimpse of the oval shaped, quarter mile
clay track that contains four sharp turns. As soon as you exit your vehicle, you are faced with a distinct
odor of the sweet smell of cherry race fuel that is burning off of the race cars preparing to go out onto
the race track from the pit area. The pit area is the location of the race track where all the racer car
drivers and pit crew members park, fine tune, and tweak their set ups on their race cars for the
particular track. The adjustments and set ups of the races cars are vital due to the fact that every set up
is unique to each and every track due to the different shapes. Another factor that the race car drivers
and pit crew members have to take into consideration are the condition of the track, this is due to the
fact that a dry track utilizes a different set up than a tacky track, which is a track that is sticky due to

Role Of Helen In The Odyssey
Helen of Sparta s portrayals in many different accounts of mythology and history are extremely
dissimilar. Helen was said to be the daughter of Zeus and Leda (Queen of Sparta), and was the wife of
Menelaus, king of Sparta. Helen was abducted by Paris of Troy and when Menelaus came to retrieve
Helen, the Trojan war began. In The Odyssey , Helen is shown as living happily with Menelaus after
he brought her back from Sparta. She is portrayed as an intelligent person who sees things for what
they truly are, but is mostly reserved to wifely duties. In Trojan Women by Euripides, Helen is shown
as a person who was used by the gods as a reward for Paris with nothing else in mind. However, she
fights vehemently for her own innocence in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the story, the gods are debating what to do with the Greeks after they pillaged
Troy, but more specifically, violated Athena s shrine. Athena asks for help and says to Poseidon, I
want to help the Trojans who were my enemies, and make the Greek army s homecoming a bitter one.
(Euripides 63). To which Poseidon replies, You re so fickle. Your mind leaps here and there: now you
hate, and now you love, and both in excess. (Euripides 65). Even Poseidon admits to the fickleness of
the goddess since her allies during the war were the Greeks. This lends itself to show that Helen could
be telling the truth about the goddesses having an argument about the beauty of each other and
Aphrodite forcing Helen to run away with Paris. Helen also helps her argument by pointing out that
the fight was preordained by the gods based on the prophecy about Paris, and then blames Paris s
mother and father for letting Paris live, rather than slaying Paris and trying to stop the prophecy from
coming true. Through the many effective arguments, Helen shows that she did not ask to be carried
away by Paris and that she liked Menelaus. Menelaus seems very weak compared to Helen, especially
since he seems to not be able to make up his mind whether to kill her or not. In the end, Menelaus
seems to decide on letting her live, though he still tells

The Badlands And Lakota Land
When the Sioux migrated to the Great Plains area, they most certainly came across the the Badlands in
their discovery. The name Badlands is derived from the Lakota phrase makȟóšiča, meaning Land of
Bad Spirits. Today, some Lakota believe that the Badlands are a place to be avoided because it is
where bad spirits exist. This paper will discuss the geographic location, geological formation, Lakota
legends, reasons the site is visited, time or seasons to visit and Lakota stargazing associated with the
site. When applicable, Lakota words will be provided.
Geographic Location and Geology
The Badlands are geographically located in Southwest South Dakota, the Southern Unit being within
the Pine Ridge Reservation. The Oglala Lakota Nation co manages the Southern Unit of Badlands
National Park.
The Badlands were deposited in layers over millions of years. The layers are constructed of sediments
such as sand, silt, and clay that have been cemented together into sedimentary rocks. Different
environments caused different sediments to accumulate there at different times. The oldest formations
are at the bottom and the youngest are at the top.
The black Pierre Shale is the bottom layer of the Badlands and was deposited between 69 and 75
million years ago when a shallow sea stretched across what is now the Great Plains. Sediment filtered
through the seawater, forming a black mud on the sea floor that has since hardened into shale. Fossil
clams, ammonites, and sea reptiles are

Analysis Of The Film Oren Peli
It is rare that a film comes out of nowhere and shocks audiences, especially with the film industry s
emphasis on advertisements. However, Paranormal Activity did just that. Oren Peli, along with Katie
Featherston and Micah Sloat, started a franchise out of a week long project with no script. By
capitalizing on realism to provoke fear within viewers, Paranormal Activity grossed over 10,000 times
its budget, in part by utilizing fans to promote the film. Considering the success of the film,
Paranormal Activity only cost $11,000 to make. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Peli
breaks down exactly where every part of the budget went, citing the software and computer he used to
edit the film as the largest expense at $4,000. Peli paid for all of these expenses, putting all of the risk
involved with the project on him. Although the film would be distributed by Paramount Pictures two
years after completion, the success of the film relied on Peli s execution. Peli uses this risk to his
advantage, making sure every detail in the film is relevant and captures his vision. Yet, the final scene
of the film strays from this technique, and for good reason. Steven Spielberg, whose company
DreamWorks was acquired by Paramount during this time, viewed the film prior to its distribution and
worked tirelessly to get it released. In the same interview with Entertainment Weekly, Spielberg is
quoted as saying: I sent more emails and made more phone calls, trying to get everybody to

Napoleon was not only a great leader, but also a great commander who like Alexander the Great
mastered generalship and all that implies. His ability to win tactical engagements against his enemies
by effectively utilizing all the principles of war in his battles has had an influence on future
commanders and the way they approach warfare. The Battle of Austerlitz or the Battle of the Three
Emperors did two things: It brought an end to the Third Coalition and established the creation of the
French Empire under Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. Victory at Austerlitz was a tactical success for
Napoleon. Therefore, during the Battle of Austerlitz Napoleon utilized all the Principles of War

  • 2. My Papa s Waltz And For My Daughter Throughout the second half of this semester, we have read poems that all had some type of comparison. It may not have been an obvious comparison, but most of these poems had at least one. In the poems, My Papa s Waltz and For My Daughter, both describe a beloved family member. They both put in clear detail of the positive and negative things about said family member. These poems both describe someone misunderstanding or mistreating another. It is amazing how each of these poems can describe or be told about a certain problem and how they all can relate in some type of way. The reason behind that is because everyone no matter who they are all goes through the same situations as the next person. Whether it is, gender, age, religion, race or even education, there is something that can connect one to another. In the poem, My Papa s Waltz, by Theodore Roethke, the narrator is the small boy mentioned in the second line. He thoroughly describes every little thing about what his father is doing; this shows the large amount of imagery in the poem. This connection is obviously between a boy and his father; hence the title of the poem. Speaking of the title of the poem, it is exactly what is named. A waltz is a song written in ¾ time, this is normally a very intimate type of dance (Shmoop). There may be a danced being performed, but do not be fooled. Eventually, we realize that this poem is a lot worse that what most would originally think. This poem quickly goes from good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Explain How To Make The Nfl Great Again ! How to make the NFL great again! 1) The professional sports leagues need to partner with the major sportsbooks/casinos 2) Continue to develop direct to consumer broadcast formats 3) Improve the game flow and shorten the game length The National Football League The NFL is comprised of 32 teams that compete for the Lombardi Trophy every year. Each team plays 16 regular season games over a 17 week span. The league is divided into two conferences, the AFC and the NFC. The final team remaining from the AFC and NFC competes against each other in the championship game, known as the Super Bowl. Most of the NFL s revenue comes from the national television deals. These television deals are highly sought after and worth billions of dollars. After the television deals, the other sources of revenue are corporate sponsorships, licensing, and merchandise sales. (Novy Williams) The National Football League on top In a Gallup poll conducted in December of last year, football came out on top, with 37% of Americans stating it as their favorite sport to watch. Next came basketball at 11% and then baseball at 9%. At its peak, the NFL was the most popular in 2007 at 43%. Since 1964, the NFL has remained America s favorite sport to watch (Gallup). • 4. Analysis Of The Book David Garland David Garland begins by asserting: We quickly grow used to the way things are. His description of our contemporary culture of control, and of our acceptance of it, calls to mind the mythical frog in the saucepan: dropped into hot water the frog is startled and leaps out; but if the heat is turned up gradually, it sits there without noticing until it boils to death. In our case our in the book refers to Britain and the United States most of us have failed to notice a quite rapid turning up of the heat. Americans, Garland observes, now seem accustomed to living in a country that executes an average of more than two people per week and has a prison population of more than 2 million. Britons, with extraordinarily little protest, have adjusted to living with an Orwellian level of closed circuit TV surveillance and a prison population whose growth rate, if not its actual number, is beginning to rival that of the US. Such a state of affairs, he notes, only 30 years ago would have seemed shocking, even to the best informed and most up to date observer. Indeed, he insists, the trajectory of British and American crime control over the past three decades has been almost exactly the contrary of that which was anticipated as recently as 1970 . The Culture of Control describes this trajectory, explains how and why it confounded expectations, and concludes with a view of what it portends. I shall quibble in a moment with the book s optimism about where it is headed, but first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Henderson English 1101 29 October 2015 Traditional Education vs. Online Education Nowadays, education is becoming one of the fundamental things in a human lifetime; most people are trying to achieve a higher education. As technology develops considerably, it has bearings on every area of our life, even in the way of education. The development of technology has a large impact on education. Before this progression of technology, the education system was only traditional. Currently, the education system has been changed. The development of technology has allowed the education system online along with traditionally. Traditional and online instructions are both great ways to learn. While both types of instructions have the same purpose of educating students having good skills about everything, but there are some significant differences between them such as flexibility, learning the course content, communication, and the cost. The first distinction between traditional education and online education is flexibility. The motivation of flexible learning is offering students choices about when, where and how they learn. • 6. How Does Plath Use Metaphors In Munich Mannequins Plath s use of metaphor is effective in highlighting her depressive state, Plath often used metaphors frequently and used them as a contrast to her own reality. Through Plath s poetry, we understand that she was conflicted about being a woman and often viewed the world with a very childlike mindset. Plath s poem The Munich Mannequins , is a poem which floats between two images of womanly barrenness through the image of anonymous mannequins to the hotels of Munich where the occupants are just as anonymous as the mannequins we are introduced to in the first few stanzas. The anonymous characters that Plath creates in this poem suggests to the reader about her stillborn child who she never knew and never got to meet. The first few stanzas are ... The word choice of perfection refers to the opening image of mannequins and suggests the idea that women in Plath s time were either able to bear children or were a perfectly formed mannequin. Through this quotation, we understand that Plath was confused about what society wanted from women and what she was to think about these views. In many of her poems, such as Lady Lazarus , she tries to defeat the stigma attached to not having children and often tries to fight against the views that her culture had, however in poems like The Munich Mannequins we see Plath conforming to these views by degrading and dehumanising these perfect women. • 7. Andrew Wyeth Christmas Morning Essay Within all life, there is one unifier death. How can it be described? What happens afterwards? Do people live on in memory, in portrait, in soul, or are they simply... gone? Andrew Wyeth brings these questions to light in his painting Christmas Morning, created in 1944. With an obviously winter landscape developed through tones of silver, grey, gold, and black, the theme of death is emphasized in the ephemeral setting and single star in the far distance, as well as within the dying figure laying to rest in the bottom of the landscape, gazing out upon the rolling hills, north star, and a shadow walking upon the glowing path that melts out of their shining body. At subtle peace, this figure has her head wrapped, hands folded, and face turned away from the viewer s eye. The blanket snugly wrapped around her liquefies into the trail snaking across the valley. The catch to this painting that seems to bring into question life after death, as well as the religious connotations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is, of course, the suggestion that the soul is moving on in this painting due to the shadow of a figure, advancing down the path. However, is this figure here because of her belief in the afterlife? Is she perhaps not dying at all, but in a state of mind in her sickliness that she is hallucinating loved ones or her own soul moving on from whatever horrors or loveliness her life held? Perhaps she is looking at the path all souls travel down on their way to whatever lies waiting. Perhaps the fact that the painting was created near the end of World War II is significant, and she is waiting for her loved ones to return or, to join them in death. Her body seems to hold tranquility and peace, but her face is turned away, expression hidden from the viewer. She may be at peace, but it is also very possible that she could be in pain, and we cannot see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Hate In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a name synonymous with the most illustrious and well recognised plays of all time. Written by easily the most remarkable playwright of the English language, William Shakespeare, this tragedy portrays the dire narrative of two star crossed lovers from feuding families whom are engrossed in a taboo love. Despite often playing as a drama of love, Romeo and Juliet is truly a play that details the complex and bilateral relationship between love and hate. This relationship without doubt shows that in this context, neither love nor hate could exist without the other. Romeo and Juliet often allude to the reciprocal relationship between love and hate, it could even be said that the mutual hate their two families share further intensifies their love. This hinting from the main characters demonstrates just how vital the intense relationship between love and hate is in the play. A key point in the tragedy is where Juliet states rather bluntly; My only love sprung from my only hate (I, v, 138). This candid statement from Juliet exhibits that even she recognizes the relationship between love and hate. In speaking these words, Juliet apprehends this relationship, and is aware of the fact that without Romeo (a person of the very house she is supposed to hate), she would not be in love. Franklin also had more manufacturing facilities in 1870 than Augusta. In the Freedom s Bureau record I read a letter to Orlando Brown for help to transport a Black woman and her five children to a hospital because she was poor and had no home. It s crazy to know how slow mail traveled from place to place during that time period and how long, if at all, she had to wait to get help. I also read the letter of Amelia from Augusta County to her brother. She was telling him of an eighty year old Indian Man who came to her school telling stories of war and of life being a slave. She wrote that he was a doctor of the colored people. From the Franklin County letters, I read Milton Crawford s letter to his parents. He is stationed were General Lee surrendered his army. • 13. Conquest Of Ai Analysis The Conquest of Ai Joshua 7:1 9 outlines the initial failed attack on Ai. One possible reading is to say that the omission of YHWH s voice in the attack is the reason that they were defeated. While there is some truth that can be extracted from this, I think it s more beneficial to note that the text attributes this failure to the poor military advice given to Joshua (Joshua 7:3). In addition, it is also helpful to note the lack of reason given for the Israelites needing to take on Ai. Unlike the two occurrences with Moses that I have already mentioned, Ai posed to no threat to the Israelites. Unlike Jericho, YHWH gave no command regarding whether Ai was to be attacked or not. We send people out in his name we bless the work that soldiers do, including the violence that they enact with others. If the United States is truly 83% Christian, then I plead for more people to analyze this story of the Israelites and the city of Ai, and that we learn the lessons clear to us from the text. Military activity, particularly when it is unwarranted or for a single nation s benefit, silences the voice of God in a society. The silencing of God allows for people to falsely speak on his behalf. It s something that we have seen more clearly in modern times through the unrest in the Middle East, but it has been a part of our culture for a long time now. This activity needs to cease immediately, or we risk becoming a people who profess a loving God, and yet continually sow destruction and violence into the world. It has been said that Arnold should have been the captured and killed instead of Andre. Major Andre made multiple impacts on the US National Defense. While the mission he set out to complete failed, Andre broke down the safety net the US thought they had. By gaining the trust of Arnold and setting up the plan to take over West Point, Andre was the hole in what was set to be a perfect American plot. If he did not get caught the outcome for the war would have been a different scene. The Americans thought they had a fool proof plan when in reality they had one of the biggest traitors history has ever seen in Benedict Arnold. For Andre to get Peggy on board to help with getting Arnold on board took time and patience. The plan would have worked fully if the ship, Vulture, would not have been moved downstream after Andre got the information from Arnold. This whole incident made the Americans realize that there could be more spies among them, and therefore Washington had Andre executed, to set an example for future spies. The second impact on US National Defense deals with the classification system that we use in the Army and surrounding agencies today. Information like the plans and layouts for a military installation would be classified secret or top secret today. Unfortunately, in the 1700s, there was no system of classifying documents. Some of the ways we communicate such as speaking directly to another person is easy to recognize as a form of communication. Communicating nonverbally is something we as humans do every single day of our lives though we may not be able to pinpoint exact circumstances for when nonverbal communication is required or when it is the best form of communication for the situation. Individuals that do not conform their behavior to fit in with social demands have been labeled as low self monitors. These people are controlled from within and do not let social situations impact their behavior. The self image that they present is accurate of their true attitude and affective states (Mill, 1984). Low self monitoring individuals express their true feelings and attitudes and seem to expect others to do the same, often accepting the behavior of others at face value (Mill, 1984). Far removed from the chameleon like nature of the high self monitors, low self monitors either do not possess the ability to mimic behavior or are unwilling to adapt to social expectations and demands (Mehra, Brass, Kilduff, 2001). While high self monitors may have a large number of acquaintances that they have friendly interactions with, low self monitors are more likely to have a smaller group of people that they are actually friends with. People that have a lower level of self monitoring are often more committed and attached to employers, dating partners, and friends than those with a high level of self monitoring skill (Kilduff, Day, 1994). Organizations convey a sense of concern for employee well being and their contribution to organizational success when rewards and resources are fairly distributed (Peele III, ... Black music needed to be introduced by a white artist in order to appeal to an audience outside of the African American community, and Elvis was the one who could do it (McKeen). He had the charisma, the charm, the look, and the moves. During the rise of his fame, Elvis was invited to be on Milton Berle s Variety Show. On his second appearance, his promiscuous dance moves, mostly involving the gyrating of his hips, deemed him inappropriate for audiences by CBS. This prompted Elvis to only be televised from the waist up, which in turn built anticipation for his shows. He was sexual, sensual, rude, and the best thing to happen in years. • 19. Geb s Role In Ancient Egyptian Religion Who is Geb? As the God of the earth, Geb was one of the most important of ancient Egypt s gods. According to the Heliopolis doctrine, he came from a line of important gods. His parents were Shu, the god of air, and Tefnut, the goddess of moisture, who were in turn the children of Atum. Osiris, Isis, Seth and Nephthys were the children of Geb and Nut, and together these gods made up the Heliopolitan Ennad. However, it should be noted that Geb may also be referred to in various literature as Seb, Keb, Kebb or Gebb. After Atum, the four deities (Shu, Tefnut, Geb, and Nut) established the Cosmos, whereas the second set of deities (Osiris, Isis, Seth and Nephthys) mediated between humans and the cosmos. Geb is usually represented in the form of a man who wears either the white crown to which is added the Atef crown, or a goose. The Goose was his sacred animal and symbol. For example, Anderson masked the Tenenbaum s true dysfunctional situation with his cinematic choices; mainly, the synergy of the stillness of the camera and acting of the characters, to portray an incongruous image of the film. One example where this was evident in would be the scene in which Margot s series of shocking experiences were shown from smoking at the age of 12 to being secretly being married. Anderson portrayed these series of events in Margot s life more lightly than it should have been through Margot s monotonous expressions while carrying out these experiences as well as her ex husband, Raleigh St Clair s neutral expressions when he found out about the extent of how secretive Margot was. One would expect a bigger reaction from Raleigh, however, the way the severity of Margot s experiences were being covered contributed to portraying an incongruous image of the film as it ignored the reality of the way he must have felt while finding out about this hidden side of Margot. As Phillip Barrish puts it, Literary works ... traditionally identified with naturalism depict characters whose lives are controlled or determined by immense, impersonal forces that the characters themselves can barely understand, let alone effectively resist (116). Obviously, not all naturalist literature is created equal; different authors choose to focus on different aspects of the genre. Specifically, this study will be exploring the differences between divergent interpretations of naturalism: the first, a story controlled by the forces of nature, and, the second, a story manipulated by the power of societal structures. First, let s take a closer look at these two branches of naturalism. The naturalism based in nature involves both the nature of the human body, including things such as hunger and death, and the influences of the natural world itself, such as hurricanes and snowstorms. This varies significantly from the form of naturalism that roots itself in the authorities of society such as the economy and social class limitations. While these two subdivisions of naturalism are perceivably unique from one another, Barrish explains that naturalist writers frequently blur together the natural and social orders (116). Recent experiments on common free radicals are often used such as family of nitroxide free radicals, and several studies have done to determine which derivatives give the best signal enhancement [7 11]. For low frequency in vivo electron spin resonance imaging (ESRI) and as contrast agents for OMRI, nitroxyl radicals have been used as spin probes [4,12], and successfully obtained images of tissue water protons in the vicinity of paramagnetic radicals and achieved in vivo imaging [13].Recently, isotropically labeling nitroxyl spin probes used to investigate redox sensitive molecular probes for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In ESRI, both spatial and the spectral information of the exogenously administered spin probes are obtained. Hence, ESRI often presents the in vivo of the spin probes without complementary anatomical information. In contrast, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) gives superior anatomic information. OMRI is a double resonance technique that depends on the Overhauser effect. It coupled the advantages of MRI with the sensitivity of ESR, by making use of the Overhauser effect [4,16]. In this phenomenon, the relatively stronger magnetic moment of the electron is used to transfer of polarization from unpaired electron spins to the coupled proton spins results in the enhancement of the NMR signal in regions of the sample containing free radical, revealing its spatial distribution in the final image. This leads to the possibility of NMR imaging at very low magnetic fields [4,9,12,17 26]. These advantages motivated us to explore, for the first time, the capability of OMRI for simultaneous molecular imaging of redox reactions using nitroxyl radicals. Nitroxyl radicals have been widely used as spin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pumped Up Kicks , a popular song that debuted in 2011 by Foster the People is about a psychotic individual who wants to get revenge on the rich people by killing them. Mark Foster, the leading band member of Foster the People wrote Pumped Up Kicks to spread awareness about mental illness. The meaning behind the song is deeper than what is actually said in the lyrics. The song is precisely focusing on the growing trend of mental illness and how it has affected people through the years. When writing this song Mark Foster got inside a psychotic individual s mind to get a better understanding as to why they express their emotions by harming others. From reading and listening to this song it seems that he has a negative view for the future and wants to eliminate the wealthy people. Not only did two sides compete with each other for over forty years, but, they had misused their surroundings and logistics. The USA and the USSR were former WW2 allies that were going head to head in a battle of strength. This strength would then be used for government officials and democracy, land over take, and a title that nobody would ever fail to recall. From 1947 to 1991, times were especially threatening on everyone and anyone. Using spies to assist their case, however, might just send them into the next interval and conquest the whole thing. • 39. A Cultural Determination of Meaning Essay HUM 101 010 Written Assignment 4 A Cultural Determination of Meaning Throughout historic culture, we can identify several changes in philosophical thought. Through the emergence of romanticism, we see a realization that, through passion, the paths of the hero and saint can be merged. In the agony and ecstasy of Michelangelo, it is obvious how the paths of hero and saint can be merged in the form of art, to attempt to reconcile the tension between them. In the enlightenment patterns of cultural mutation, we begin to realize that the way we converge the two paths depends on the historical context in which we view them. And finally, as a response to his cultural climate, Kierkegaard s portrayal of Abraham shows how the hero saint ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This stems directly from the Greek ideal of the tragic hero and builds on romanticism, and Michelangelo portrays this in his Roman Pieta. Through the idea of the parent s loss of the child, he is able to display heroism in the mother, through the depiction of the biblical figures of Mary and Jesus. Michelangelo is reacting to a certain cultural context by combining contemplation with faith the Florentine Renaissance and the timeless dynamic of human existence that he observed while in Rome. This leads us to the fact that these thought patterns are influenced by the culture in which they are observed through the changes in philosophical thought in the enlightenment. During the enlightenment patterns of cultural mutations, there is a growing emphasis on morality to determine one s faith. Luther describes the individual as being responsible for his/her identity as a child of God. Science re inserts the impersonal worldview of the hero into a Christian culture. The rise of capitalism brings the idea that human identity is based on a cultural environment which is organized in economic terms with an emphasis on competitive advantage. All of these mutations point to the fact that the tensions between the two paths are unable to be merged into one path; they swing in one direction or the other, based on the cultural climate. This brings us to a need to define one path ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is pure irony that the earliest known mention of baseball in the United States occurred in my home state of Massachusetts in Pittsfield in 1792. It was recorded because a law was made banning the playing of a baseball game within eighty yards of the town meeting house. It is important to note that the first mention of baseball in history was in reference to a political matter. The game was played under modern day rules by upper middle class white men in the 1840 s by the New York Knickerbockers. In 1857, baseball officially was in full swing with sixteen New York ball clubs joining the first ever chapter of the National Association of Baseball. (Baseball Reference). Interest in studying pedagogy and how effective pedagogy is transmitted has increased in recent years and there are a multitude of sources that we can explore and analyse in order to answer that question. (M. K. Smith 2012a). Education is about giving time to discover new concepts whilst being encouraged to do so in a social environment (M, K, Smith 2012b). Education in general is a very practical activity and is concerned with changing old principles as well as teaching new perceptions. Many people have the misconception that pedagogy is only about teaching, it has other forms, a process of living and not a preparation of future living. (John Dewey 1963). The process of education and teaching is carried out by several people during our lives, parents and carers, work colleagues, acquaintances and friends and specialist educators (M. K. Smith 2012c). A pedagogue in Ancient Greek society was a very important person. There was a noticeable difference between a pedagogue and a teacher. A pedagogue was very much part of the household of the young learner, often slaves who were trusted by their master to guide their children through everyday life. The role of a pedagogue was to act as a companion, ensuring safety and to act as a guardian during schooling. Athena asks for help and says to Poseidon, I want to help the Trojans who were my enemies, and make the Greek army s homecoming a bitter one. (Euripides 63). To which Poseidon replies, You re so fickle. Your mind leaps here and there: now you hate, and now you love, and both in excess. (Euripides 65). Even Poseidon admits to the fickleness of the goddess since her allies during the war were the Greeks. This lends itself to show that Helen could be telling the truth about the goddesses having an argument about the beauty of each other and Aphrodite forcing Helen to run away with Paris. Helen also helps her argument by pointing out that the fight was preordained by the gods based on the prophecy about Paris, and then blames Paris s mother and father for letting Paris live, rather than slaying Paris and trying to stop the prophecy from coming true. Through the many effective arguments, Helen shows that she did not ask to be carried away by Paris and that she liked Menelaus. However, Paranormal Activity did just that. Oren Peli, along with Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat, started a franchise out of a week long project with no script. By capitalizing on realism to provoke fear within viewers, Paranormal Activity grossed over 10,000 times its budget, in part by utilizing fans to promote the film. Considering the success of the film, Paranormal Activity only cost $11,000 to make. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Peli breaks down exactly where every part of the budget went, citing the software and computer he used to edit the film as the largest expense at $4,000. Peli paid for all of these expenses, putting all of the risk involved with the project on him. Although the film would be distributed by Paramount Pictures two years after completion, the success of the film relied on Peli s execution. Peli uses this risk to his advantage, making sure every detail in the film is relevant and captures his vision. Yet, the final scene of the film strays from this technique, and for good reason.
