1. References In Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "References In Essays" can be quite challenging, requiring a
delicate balance between providing accurate information and maintaining a coherent and
engaging narrative. The difficulty arises from the need to navigate the intricate landscape of
citation styles, academic conventions, and the proper integration of references into the essay's
flow.
One of the primary challenges is understanding the various citation formats such as APA, MLA,
Chicago, or Harvard, and ensuring that each reference is meticulously formatted according to
the specified guidelines. This process demands attention to detail, as even a minor error in
citation can compromise the integrity of the entire essay.
Moreover, the writer must grapple with the task of selecting relevant and credible sources that
contribute substantively to the essay's argument. This requires not only a comprehensive
understanding of the topic but also the ability to critically evaluate sources for their reliability
and academic merit.
Additionally, striking the right balance between incorporating references seamlessly into the text
and avoiding over-reliance on external sources poses its own set of challenges. The essay must
reflect the author's original thoughts while acknowledging the contributions of others, creating a
synthesis that demonstrates a deep understanding of the subject matter.
Furthermore, managing the sheer volume of information associated with references can be
overwhelming. Writers must keep track of multiple sources, their publication details, and page
numbers, all while ensuring that the essay maintains a coherent and logical structure.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the intricacies of referencing demands a high level of skill in
research, organization, and adherence to academic conventions. However, by overcoming these
challenges, the writer not only demonstrates their mastery of the subject matter but also
contributes to the scholarly discourse surrounding effective referencing in essays.

The article by Hatice Ezberk The Function of Fantasy as a subversive Genre in
Literature examines the idea of how fantastic literature can bring out an emphasis on
how the world transforms through the writers eyes. As fantasy literature grows it can
become unclear as to what social norms the literature is trying to juxtapose. Ezberk
argues that trying to categorize fantasyliterature is a rebellious act as the subgenre s
become too specific and can at times deceive the reader by delivering functions it is
not meant to deliver. Ezberk argues through other works by establishing that the
concept of realism is not valid in fantasy literature as it becomes too vague. Instead
fantasy literature takes the reader away from a world they know and into a world
where it is heart desire to be. The concept of subversive literature is that it gives a
reader encouragement to think creatively while reading and to... Show more content

4. Memorable Villainy In Othello
The concept of villain brings to one s mind as one who is opposite to the hero,
creating difficulties and hurdles for the latter to overcome. A literary villain, on the
other hand, is one who is unchanging with regards to his goals unless an
overwhelming force, physical or psychological compels him to do so. In subtle
villainy, the villain is cunning, crafty, intellectual, malicious and harmful. Rather than
merely waiting for a tragedy to happen, subtle villains would have developed a clear
plan based on a definite objective in mind and would ensure the progress of their
plans by devising appropriate strategies, ensuring proper timing, evaluating
continuously at various stages and monitoring its meticulous implementation with
enough courage, patience and perseverance. Iagofrom the famous classic Othello, the
Moor of Venice written by William Shakespeare and Sakuni, from the epic
Mahabharata written by Veda Vyasa, are the best representatives of subtle villainy.
Iago can be regarded as the most powerful among Shakespeare s evil characters. He is

5. The Man Who Was Almost A Man By Richard Wright
Arguably one of the most important moments in a man s life is when he realizes he is
no longer a boy. Often times this evolution in social status occurs without deliberate
attempt. In the literary work entitled, The Man Who Was Almost a Man , Richard
Wright outlines a story about a young boy named Dave, who struggles with his own
perception of manhood. Throughout this story Dave wrestles with the societal
concept of hegemonic masculinityand tries to force his way into manhood.
Hegemonic masculinity, a potentially unfamiliar concept, is an idea that states there
exists a social hierarchy in which men possess the dominant position in society, and
women as well as submissive men are marginalized ( Hegemonic Masculinity ).

After some time passes, Dave decides to dedicate a portion of his time at work to
practicing his gun shooting. During his practice time Dave accidentally shoots a mule
named Jenny, which leads to Dave being publicly shamed by Jim Hawkins, the
members in the community, and his parents. Due to all of these events, Dave ponders
the value of his existence, his manhood, and his masculinity. Subsequently, Dave
decides to leave his home by impulsively jumping on a train passing through his
town, thus leaving his old life behind and beginning a new one. The Man Who Was
Almost a Man concludes with Dave riding off into the distance with the intention of
finding a place where in his opinion he can become a man. This short story is both
an illustration of a boy attempting to become a man, and a depiction of an individual
doing his best to overcome the restrictions within a hegemonic society. According to
Anthony Lemelle in Black Masculinity and Sexual Politics , hegemonic masculinity
from a relational standpoint is a dynamic power that men deploy in structural
interactions functioning to legitimize patriarchal relations and guarantees inequality
of both men and women it [hegemonic masculinity] must result in the subordination
of both the other men and women (Lemelle 13). Within The Man Who Was Almost a
Man there is a clearly defined social structure amongst the characters in this story. At
the top of the hierarchy lies Joe, Jim Hawkins and Dave s father; these are

7. Roles Of Women In The Canterbury Tales
Roles of Woman in The Canterbury Tales
The Prioress and the Wife of Bath in Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales are
presented as two extremes of femininity. While the former occupies the realm of the
delicate courtly lover, the latter is embraces traditionally masculine traits. In many
ways they are foils to one another, but, in a more important way, they very much the
same. Both are women who are not satisfied with the roles that society has
determined for them, and as such, both challenge the expectations of the patriarchal
order.

loquacious and domineering. She is a worthy woman who takes up space, and is a

later goes on to note that she wears suggestive tights of scarlet reed, and is gap

five husbands and string of lovers seem to further imply her lustful nature. When
discussing her many husbands in The Wife of Bath s Prologue, the Wife lends some
insight into her particular method of marriage, boasting:

John D. Rockefeller was born on July 8th, 1839 in New York. Rockefeller s father
went around the states scamming people into buying what they thought was the
cure for cancer. Rockefeller knew what it was like to move around the country. He
first lived in multiple locations in New York, and finally ended up in Ohio where
his life would change forever. At the age of 24, Rockefeller and his neighbor
Maurice Clark, both put up two thousand dollars and entered the oil refinery
business. The two men, Rockefeller and Clark started Standard Oil in Cleveland,
Ohio, and by 1872, the two men had owned all of the oil refineries around
Cleveland. By 1878, Standard Oil owned about ninety percent of oil in the United
States through horizontal integration. Horizontal integration is dominating a
particular phase of the production process in order to monopolize a market.
Through horizontal integration, Rockefeller was able to control as many oil
refineries as he wanted and could monopolize. By monopolizing, Rockefeller did not
have to worry about competition, and with Henry Ford s Model T car, oil was at a
high demand to power cars. Rockefeller was not just a businessman but a family man

9. Karl Marx And Max Weber Essay
Karl Marx and Max Weber, were influential social thinkers of the 19th century,
having developed many theories in various areas of sociology. One of the areas both
Marx and Weber have thoroughly discussed in their essays is origins and
development of modern capitalism. Although both theorists agree on the basic
elements of modern capitalism, that is, it is a rational process of accumulation of
wealth or capital for reinvestment, yet they differ in their ideas concerning how
capitalism emerged as it did. According to Weber, religion, especially Protestantism
(Calvinism) played a great role in the development of capitalism. However for Marx,
capitalism could be compared to other historical modes of production and was based
solely on material conditions.
Marx s idea of the genesis of capitalism is rooted in his theory of historical
materialism. Historical materialism is the materialistic interpretation of history and is
based on the concept of dialectical materialism. He regarded that evolution is the
result of economic forces alone, which is why the fundamental activity of man is
social production . Since, no man can produce in isolation, man needs to enter into
definite political and social relationships in each mode of production.
The transition from one mode of production to the other can occur only when
conflict arises between different social classes. It is only when there is complete
negation of the previous mode of production that a new order arises. Hence Marx s

11. Inflation Essay
Global economy has been changing significantly in past several decades which has
been affected by the goods and services in the national borders leading to the
movement of the country up and down in the international system economically. The
economy of the country is strictly hit by two important factors that are: deflation and
inflation. Deflation can be defined as the decrease in the price of the goods or
services provided. In the other hand, inflation can be defined as the increase in the
price of the goods and services. It is observed that the deflation increases the power of
purchasing and increase the value for the money whereas the inflation cause the
decrease in the economic power. Inflation plays the vital role for the fluctuation of the
economy in the country that directly affects the economy of the world. It actually
affects the various macroeconomics and microeconomics factor of the economy
leading to various consequences. The most important consequences is unemployment.
The phenomenon of inflation has been described in three different views: a)

view it has been described as the increase in the price of goods and services but
decrease in the value of the money. According to Keynes, it is the states when there

12. Julius Caesar And Brutus Essay
In certain situations, one may find themselves disregarding their principles in order
to achieve something of their own personal desire. By doing this, they are not only
revealing their true self, but they raise caution to their honorability. On the contrary,
when one chooses to stand by their principles it can expose the true degree of their
honor. We believe that honor rests in the upholding of one s principles, therefore
proving that when one abandons their principle they are abandoning their honor as
well. Evidencerests in the play, Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, when many of
the characters such as, Cassius, Brutus, and Mark Antonyshow that the upholding of
one s principle can demonstrates whether or not they are a truly honorable man.
On many occasions Cassius proved himself to be a man with very little honor due to
how he ignored his instinct to act like a normal human being who has principles. To
begin with, he openly manipulated Brutus by asking him,
CASSIUS.
Why should that name be sounded more than yours? (Act 1, Scene 2, Lines 151
152). By saying this to Brutus, Cassius is implying that Brutus should expect and
receive the same amount of praise as his good friend Caesar. If Cassius had sound
principles, he would not have planted that seed in Brutus head because he ultimately
persuaded Brutus to help in the assassination of Caesar. Another example of when
Cassius proved to have no principles, is when he voluntarily becomes the so called

Inflation and rising prices across the United States will help grow the market, because
consumers will try to lower their transportation cost to fund other parts of their

Market price of elasticity is set at the highest position of 0.5%. This is because of
how price sensitive the automotive market is to begin with and combining it with
consumers who are trying to save the most money possible when moving to more
efficient modes of transportation. The high price of hybrid vehicles makes people
less likely to buy them, and as the manufacturers and government agencies pass cost

In the box and whisker, the median is 78, almost 80, and that fifty percent of the
students scored between 67 and 86 points, and seeing the plot is skewed to the left
means that there are more values in the highs rather the lower numbers. The
histogram and stem and leaf plot also shows how students passed the test by seeing
the median and mode on the graph.
The assigning of the scores I decided to have five letter grades which were, A, B, C,
D, and F. Letter grade A is 90 100, B is 80 89, C is 70 79, D is 60 69, and F is 59 0.
The reason I chose this grade assignment is because I wanted to know how many
students have passed the exam beyond average or below. The average is a 70 79
and having five categories can show which students actually know the subject or
need to work on it, whether over the average or under the average.
Describing the middle of the data is that the central tendency by using the mean,
median, or mode. The mean gives us the average, the median gives us which is the
number in the middle of the set, while mode show us the most frequently occurring
value in a data set. The box and whisker and histogram, it s better to use the median
to describe the middle because since the mean is less than the median, that s why it s
skewed because the high scores influence the direction of the graph. In this case, the
median may be a better option to represent the typical grade on the test.

In this case, it implies that there is a possibility of PayPal suffering immense losses

implementation of this prototype consists of four different adaptations, for each
movement, a sensors interface electronic board, a control board, and a graphical user
interface where the physiotherapist is able to set up a personalized rehabilitation
cycle according to the patient needs.
We have done field tests of the prototype with a patient with elbow and wrist
fracture diagnosis, as we observe a improve in mobility of the both joints through a
small number of rehabilitation session, as regards is concluded that the prototype
allows to reach progressively angles nearer to angular limits of pronation and

cause products to worsen and lose their pigment. Talc, hydrous magnesium silicate
(MgSlO4) is used as an absorbent, anti caking agent. It improves the feel of the
product and helps smooth or soften them. Metallic stearates (C17H35CO) also
known as stearate salts are used for their moisturizing properties. They help keep
the mixture of two or more liquids from separating into their oil and liquid
components. The stearate salts increase the thickness of the liquid and reduces the

Today s financial crisis has deeply impacted all areas of life not only in the United
States, but also the rest of the world. Company giants such as Circuit CityВ® and
Merrill LynchВ® have fallen victim to the financial crisis. One of the biggest
industries the financial crisis has had an impact on has been the housing market.
Everyday newspapers, journal articles, and television media cover stories regarding
foreclosures around the country. To regain financial control of the world and
domestic economy, one must begin with the housing market. There are various areas
of the housing market, which allow for overhaul and maintain a prosperous future.

By repaying their debt, this helps the banking industry, which in turn strengthens the
economy. This is a win win situation because everyone benefits from it: the consumer
improves his or her credit worthiness in order to purchase a home at a later time, the
banking industry does not lose out on loaned money in either the short or long term,
and home buyers will be able to enter an agreement with the lender knowing
beforehand that their interest rate will not rise at any point, thus making it
affordable. For people who are currently in an ARM, the banking industry should
allow them to transfer to a fixed rate loan that allows affordability to the consumer
without jeopardizing loss of money on the banking industry. The banking industry
should also be flexible regarding requests by its home owners. Some people are
beginning to realize ahead of time that eventually they will not able to afford the
house they are living in. One solution might be to allow the flexibility such as
lowering payments for a specified amount of time such as one or two years.
Affordability is the main idea to a homeowner. If a mortgage is affordable, most likely
a homeowner will continue to make his or her payments on time and not foreclose on
the home.
For example, if a person is paying $1,000 per month in mortgage and is not able to
afford this amount, by allowing them to reduce their payments to $800 on a two year
agreement, the bank will temporarily lose
23. Weirdest And Oddest Family Members Essay
The weirdest family member I have is myself. I am considered the weirdest/oddest
person in my family because I do everything slow even when I m eating. The reason I
eat like I do I remember one time when I was eating, next thing you know I
swallowed my food. I wasn t even done chewing it. Now that I m in college, I have to
go to breakfast an hour before class, because of how I eat. Another weird thing I do is
when I open a bag of chips; I have to smell them I don t know why but I have to.
Even before I leave a room I always play with the light switch. I ll try to level it out in
the middle, or I have to rub my hand on it about 5 times before I leave the room
completely. My family call me odd because I don t do everything they do, eat the
same things they do. Like if I m walking with someone and we split a pole, I will
literally stop and turn around, because I believe that it is bad luck just to make a U
turn. I don t know why I do that it s like if I don t do it I think I m going to have bad
luck. Another thing I do is if I have a pen or pencil, and I will rub it in the palm of
my hand until it turns red or until some type of feeling goes away. Even how I walk
is odd. If you really pay attention to me I always do two things when I m walking.
One of them are I always hold my head down to the side and the other one is I
swing both of my arms at the same time. Another thing that makes me odd, I do not
like when my foodtouch. If my foods touch I will literally separate every single
thing. I guess some people like to mix their foods together, me personally I can t
do it. Like one time in the cafeteria I asked for macaroni and yams, the lunch lady
literally mixed them together causing me to have to seperate them. Some people
said It s all going down the same way . I still till this day will not mix my food
together.
One of the weirdest things I ve ever done was when I was sitting in my room and
out of nowhere I had this urge to cross my eyes. When I did it I couldn t stop,
because there was some type of feeling that I had to make myself feel in order for
me to stop doing it. They almost got stuck, and every since then I tried so hard to
stop myself from doing it again. The second weirdest thing I ve ever done
24. What Is Who s For The Game By Wilfred Owen
Written Task 2
Wilfred Owen wrote one of the most famous WW1 poems, Dulce et decorum Est .
These famous words originate from Horace s Odes (Horace was a roman
philosopher poet). Words that were familiar at the time to Owen which meant that
to die in war was an honorable brave sacrifice for your country . This type of
thinking was common in the time supported by pro war propaganda from other
poets of this period. This extract from poet Jessie Pope s poem Who s for the
game? is an example; Who s for the game, the biggest that s played, The red
crashing game of a fight? Who ll grip and tackle the job unafraid? And who thinks he
d rather sit tight? (Pope)

It could be argued that this is in contracts to Rupert Brooke s 1914 Poem The Soldier
, where Brooke deviated from the normal purpose of detailing a predicament by
remaining blissfully in state with the self proclaimed patriotic soldier.
The tone that Owen uses is of a negative outlook on war bitterness that was directed
at the people who were involved in the rallying of troops to take up the fight (via
propaganda) which he felt was not a truthful portrayal of the reality horrors of the
war that would greet them on the Western front. Stanza 2 and 3 describe the death of
his mask less comrade in the gas attack represents a prime example of his tone. In all
my dreams, before my helpless sight. He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

The poem deals with the cold reality of war, written by a soldier s first hand
experience on the Western Front, which deviated from other WW1 poets like Jessie

Tourism has several impacts on many different aspects of Bali s society. Tourism has
impacted on the already existing, social, economic, cultural and environmental
processes of the island. For example, as a result of tourism the pace of urbanisation
has rapid increased and tourism has sped up the process of economic development.
There are large economic consequences on the economy of Bali. One significant
impact on Bali is the foreign exchange earnings. Tourism is the fourth largest income
earner for Indonesia at around US 5.5 billion (2003). Tourism is very labour
intensive, with the influx of tourists more services are required thus leading to more
creation of jobs, even though it increases job opportunities and higher paying jobs, ...

The social and cultural processes are also significantly impacted. Tourism has
helped develop and keep up the unique culture of the island, it has helped revive
artistic traditions, and has provided an economic justification for preserving them.
But tourism has also led to importantly behavioural impacts, for example; nude
sunbathing by tourist is widely disliked by the locals, as well as that lack of respect
is shown by tourists in scared places such as temples. Another negative impact is the
social development of Bali. There are constant conflicts between local villagers and
developers who want the land for hotels and attractions like golf courses. These social
impacts have led to a loss in culture and heritage. Another significant impact is the
turning of Balinese culture into a commodity. The major influx of tourists has
plagued Bali s culture. Dances, ceremonies and arts and crafts are all now adapted to
tourists timetables and tastes, and are mass produced to reduce cost. Also because
more people are choosing to work in the tourism industry, this has meant that fewer
are available doe traditional ceremonies and communal tasks, placing more pressure
on traditional community organisations.
As a result of tourism Bali has suffered a lot. In my opinion tourism has plagued
Bali and it s culture. Tourism brings in a lot of money for Indonesia and Bali, but as
a result of it the beautiful island is being

A trip to visit Monument Valley took me through the mystifying canyons and desert
flats of Utah consecrated by the indigenous Navajo people for their natural beauty. I
did not realize that my journey on a winding road through the sovereign Navajo
Nation would have such a profound effect on me when I first arrived at Monument
ValleyNavajo Tribal Park. Amidst the towering auburn stones and fine sands, the
Valley began to perform a ballad of whispering winds and endless sky. This
performance detailed the relationship between man and nature in Monument Valley
and even the largest lens cannot capture the landscape. I began to interpret
Monument Valley (see appendix A) and its importance to me as an example of true
nature that I encountered early in my childhood in movies. It was naive to believe
that my childhood recollections of grayscale Western films did it justice, so I set out
on a journey to discover the landscape in person. While my original memories will
endure, the enchanting effects of the Valley of the Rocks on my soul is only
relivable amidst the great stones of the Colorado Plateau.

immediately noticed the uniqueness of the landscape. Upon arrival, it became clear
that the Navajo cared for their natural spaces in a meticulous

Athena liking Odysseus wit and courage during his conquering of Troy tries to
assist him in his return in various ways. Towards the beginning of the story, it can
be seen that Athena tries to convince her father Zeus, who happened to be the King

else face dire consequences. Zeus in turn, sends Hermes, who is also known as the
God s Messenger, approaches Calypso and informs her of the two possible
outcomes of the situation. This mediation between the Gods and Calypso who also
happens to be a Goddess shows that divine intervention can also apply between two

Odysseus out of sticky situations. She is also shown visiting Odysseus home in
Ithaca to console his son, Telemachus and gives him the advice to go and meet
Nestor of Pylos and Menelaus of Sparta, to find out if they would have any

Alcohol abuse has been associated with risky behavior not only among youths and

that intoxicated individuals are likely to engage in risky behavior. The studies

It is important to note that it has already been determined that under the influence of
alcohol humans tend to be more sexually active. The study showed that over two
thirds of the participants engaged in sexual activities after they were intoxicated.
There is currently no scientific basis to prove this view but empirical studies have
supported it. When intoxicated, individuals are less likely to make rational decisions
and hence may engage in unprotected sexual activities. Essentially, unprotected sexual
activities are correlated to the behavior of intoxication.
On the other hand, alcohol abuse is also associated with planning, contemplating, and
attempting suicide (Pompili, Serafini, Innamorati, Dominici, Ferracuti, Serra, . . .
Tatareli, 2010). Suicide is an escalating public health problem where alcohol abuse is
perceived as a precipitating factor. Attempting suicide is a criminal offence. When
users are intoxicated, they experience disinhibition, impulsiveness, and impaired
judgment (Pompili et al., 2010). More so, alcohol enables individuals to ease the
distress that comes with attempting an act of suicide. However, it is worth pointing
out that there are psychiatric disorders such as psychosis, anxiety disorders, and
susceptibility to stress that tend to increase the risk of committing suicide. Though
alcohol abuse is associated with suicidal behavior, there are other factors that may
also contribute to it.

she would get her next meal. Whether it was actually bought by her parents or fished
out of the trash, she always adapted , lived on and survived. Walls communicated
through her book, the message strength is gained from overcoming the obstacles life
puts in front of you using descriptions, symbolism, character s actions and
personification, To begin, through the description and symbolization of the Joshua tree
, Walls depicts her message. Walls description of the tree was that it was, scraggly
and freakish, permanently stuck in its twisted, tortured position (35). Through this
quote the reader has an understanding of how because of the natural elements, such
as wind and rain, the tree becomes a deformed more flawed version of itself. Her
mother, however, believes that, It s the Joshua tree s struggle that gives it its beauty

Walls herself. She is a mentally and physically scarred human being. The tree is
stronger than the wind and instead of being uprooted, it adapts to what the earth
sends to. Similarly, Walls adapts to what life send to her, opposed to giving up. Her
adversities created her imperfections, which makes her strong. Through the

33. Determination Of Enthalpy Change Of Combustion
Determination of enthalpy change of combustion for alcohols
Abstract
This report will explore the energy release (or enthalpy change) when four different
alcohols (methanol, ethanol, propan 1 ol, butan 1 ol) were burned. When these
alcohols are burned, the chemical energy in their bonds is transferred into kinetic and
thermal energy by heating water in a beaker. The rise in temperature of the water
allows us to calculate the enthalpy change when each alcohol is burned in KJ mol 1.
Introduction
Energy is defined as the ability to do work and is measured in joules (J). It cannot
be created or destroyed but can be transferred between objects and transformed from
one form to another. There are many types of energy:
Kinetic energy is the energy an object possesses due to its movement. The amount
of energy depends on the objects mass and speed. Some examples of objects with
kinetic energy are bullets from a gun or a moving car. To work out the kinetic
energy of a moving object the following equation is used: Kinetic energy = 1/2
(mass x velocity2)
Potential energy is the energy stored in an object as a result of its position. There
are two types of potential energy: gravitational and elastic. Gravitational potential
energy is energy stored as a result of an objects vertical position. An object above
the earth s surface has gravitational potential energy for example a bird or a plane.
The amount of gravitational energy an object has depends on the weight and height
of the

In my elementary youth, I remember my father showing me a trick with the
window sized mirrors on our bathroom cabinet. He opened the cabinet mirrors such
that they faced each other at an angle and then told me to stand in the space
between them. Upon stepping in, I was face to face with a visibly infinite number
of planes of myself. Little did I know at the time, by introducing me to what
appeared to being a virtually endless line of clones, my father was formally
introducing me to both yet another indeterminacy of the natural world and, at higher
level, to the multiplicity of who I am. Being only five years old at the time, I was in
total shock and awe at this defying void, which challenged all of my preexisting

It is human nature to interpret and reinterpret life and find meaning of one s place in
the world. Without such knowledge, or belief for that matter, any possibility of
humanity is lost. Hence, humans are plagued with the necessity to interpret
themselves and their connections to their surroundings both human and physical.
Because one s connections and contexts for interpretation are endless in some sense,
humans are inherently a divided self the culmination of all given interpretations they
make for themselves and interpretations from others. In addition, this totality of
interpretations through the lens selves as being what is around you, it follows that
poetic rhetorical language is necessary in discussion of the divided self.
In a general sense, I am a self interpreting animal ( Human Agency and Language ) in

characteristic that makes me human it sets me apart from animals or in a dark sense,

The internet is extremely important in people s everyday lives, so much that
majority of the world s economy and its governments rely heavy on the web.
Communication, information, work, education, and health care are all at the top

The age of the European Renaissance, Reformation, and Exploration are significant
because they lead to the creation and spread of ideas which further advanced people

Renaissance man was someone who excelled in more than one thing. For example,
Leonardo was a painter, sculptor, inventor, and he studied anatomy. His creations and
techniques later spread across the world, advancing art and science. The Renaissance
caused people to ask questions. This inspired the beginning of the Reformation. The
World History textbook said that the Church believed that the Earth was the center of
the universe for 1,400 years. Copernicus and Galileo stated that the sun is actually the
37. Linda Colley s Captives
One of the most intriguing and unexpected examples of British life comes from the
accounts of captives, which are the subject of Linda Colley s book Captives. What
gives Colley s book so much depth into the view of the empire is how she uses
accounts not just of men, but also of women and children from a wide array of
social backgrounds. This contributes heavily into how we read and analyze these
accounts because we see how captive accounts from different gender/class roles in
different areas, specifically in India and North America, give us insight into how
these different people viewed the empire. Colley uses the captives in her book for
a very simple reason: they give readers a different view that is unique and free of
bias. We typically think of British high class officials as the ones who describe
events from history, but Colley tells us that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This can be described by the idea that British colonists and thinkers were changing
their views of Native Americans by pushing the universal belief that there was no
such thing as a good Indian. The accounts of these captivity narratives helped to
lend perspective to the area and to attract readers back in London, but it remains to
be said who the captive writers were? American captivity narratives in North
America were more feminized, and regularly included large numbers of women. We
see how the accounts of women often being more sympathetically viewed with the
account of Jonathon Dickenson who traveled to the New World with his wife and
six month year old baby. Upon arrival, Dickenson and his family were seized where
his wife become horrified when one of the Indian women took their baby and suckled
him. This forced the Dickenson family, and many other whites, to see how their
children would become assimilated into Native American society, showing how
colonists became fearful that they would lose their ties to

of distance education in providing greater accessibility and up to date educational
resources (Malaysian Qualifying Agency 2008).
According to researcher Bayoli (2013) in today s learning society; student support in

popularity of open and distance learning has been thanks to the unique advantages of
this form of learning such as flexibility for those students who wish to have a working

39. Analysis Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Introduction What s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would
smell just as sweet. This quote from Shakespeare is from the balcony scene when
Juliet tells Romeo that his name is meaningless and that he is still a handsome young
man and that only their family names are enemies. This same quote can be applied in
today s society in how people address each other based on different situations,
especially when addressing women. There are many different titlesthat can be used to
address women as opposed to men, but despite the title used, the womanherself does
not change. Only the meaning and stereotype associated with the title used changes.
Throughout the years, the titles used to address women have slowly shifted
meaning from that of a social status to that of a marital status. Erickson (2014)
explains that the titles Miss and Mrs. are the oldest coined terms used to address
women, and both of them derive from the title Mistress. Both titles were generally
only used for those of higher power and status. Miss described young girls while
Mrs. , described women who had governed subjects, was skilled, or who taught.
Upon reaching adulthood, a Miss became a Mrs. , and according to the Oxford

40. The Old Testament Law And The Gospel
Church leaders have sought to define the relationship between the Old Testament
Law and the Gospel, while seeking to determine the applicability of Old Testament
laws for Christian believers. Unfortunately, a consensus among modern theologians
remains unattainable, producing a spectrum of views on the subject. Contention
primarily arises over obedience to customary laws, principally the requirement for
Christians to observe the Sabbath. While brevity excludes a thorough examination
of the subject, this essay will laconically detail the relationship between the law and
the Christian believer, arguing (1) the Mosaic Law cannot be divided and
categorized as some have suggested, and (2) adherence to the Mosaic Law is not an
obligation for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the Ten Commandments (Exod. 20:1 17) show an intermingling of moral laws
(you shall not murder) and ceremonial laws (remember the Sabbath day by keeping it
holy). Second, the New Testament suggests continuity within the law (Gal. 5:3;
James 2:10; Matt. 5:18), seemingly excluding the possibility of division. Addressing
this issue, theologian Douglas J. Moo concludes, ...in general, it is notoriously
difficult to know from the Old Testamentitself which commandments should be
placed in the category of moral and therefore eternally binding in the form in which
they were first given. Jews in Jesus and Paul s day certainly did not divide up the
law into categories; on the contrary, there was a strong insistence that the law was a
unity and could not be obeyed in parts. These considerations suggest it is
unreasonable to divide the Mosaic Law into categories, allowing for the abrogation of
some sections, while maintaining the validity and obligatory nature of others.
Proponents suggesting Christians must conform to moral laws, and some ceremonial
laws (i.e. the Sabbath, but not sacrificial offerings), must address these points and
present a Scriptural basis for the division and categorization of the Mosaic Law,
before making the rest of their case.
Adherence to the Mosaic Law is not an Obligation for Christians Establishing that
there is no basis for arbitrary division and

In what ways do practices of consumption drive ecological degradation?
The consumption of some goods and services results to ecological degradation more
than we may realize. The things that we purchase contribute directly or indirectly to
pollution, climate change, resources depletion and biodiversity loss. Ecological
degradation refers to the deterioration in environmental quality from ambient
concentrations of pollutants and other activities and processes such as improper land
use and natural disasters (OECD, 1997). Ecological degradation is in most cases a
result of socioeconomically, institutional and technological activities. The resources
that are affected include water, soil and air. The degradation also impacts our wildlife,

Mining provides a number of jobs to a large number of people along with being a
great source for government revenues. Despite its great contribution to the economy,
the effects that it has on the environment appears to be of great concern. For example
rainforests are a great and important source of wood, oxygen and medicine for
everyone. Rainforests in the amazon in particular are known for its alluvial
deposits of gold that are found at river banks after major floods and river channels.
In order for miners to mine gold, hydraulic mining techniques are often used. This
method involves the process of blasting at the riverbanks that results to irreversible
damage to trees and animals. Through the process of separating the mercury and the
sediment from gold yielding gravel deposits, miners who appear to be less equipped
than industrial miners sometimes may ignore the release of some of the mercury into
the river. The mercury is then likely to enter the food chain through water animals as
well as their predators. Highly compound cyanide is also used to separate gold from
sediment and rock. In spite of all precautionary measures, it sometimes escapes into
the surrounding environment (Rose, 2012). Therefore those who consume fish might
be at great risk of contamination of such toxins. Chemicals such as sulfuric acid,
cyanide and methyl mercury are usually used in different

Yuki Tanaka s Japan s Comfort Women
This paper is a review of the book Japan s Comfort Women Sexual slavery and
prostitution during WWII and the US occupation by Yuki Tanaka. This book was
published in 2002 by Routledge. The book deals with the thousands of Japanese,
Korean, Chinese and other Asian and European women who were victims of
organized sexual violence and prostitution by means of comfort stations setup by the
Japanese military during World War II.
As we first get into the book, we find out that the origins of comfort stations i.e.
military brothels are unknown, but official documents strongly suggest that the
Japanese Imperial Forces created comfort stations roughly around 1931 1932 for
Japanese sailors. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some other women however faced different routes.
Chinese and Filipina women were lured into these sexual schemes by not just deceit,
but by force as well. Recruiters used violence and often kidnapping to get these
women. While the Japanese forces had occupied China, they used Korean women for
their authorized comfort stations for fear of anti Japanese resentment among Chinese
civilians. However, this did not stop some Japanese from setting up comfort stations
using Chinese women. These unofficial comfort stations were not given approval
from higher Japanese authority. The Japanese army adopted the tactics called
Shodo Sakusen which meant scorched earth strategy (p.46). This meant that the
army could destroy any village if ordered too which of course included the rape of
women. This is an account of a 15 year old Chinese girl who along with other girls,
was abducted and separated from her family. Day after day they were raped by
Japanese soldiers in the cave. Each day she was raped by at least two or three soldiers
sometimes by 10 soldiers. The cave was guarded by Chinese collaborators, making
it impossible to escape. She was often taken to an officer s room in the fortress and
raped there, too (p.46). The Japanese also occupied the regions of the Philippines
and Filipina women were kidnapped and abducted as well by force and were used as
comfort women. The Filipino s had a lot of anti Japanese guerilla movements

In an enchanting excerpt by Sonia Sanchez christened, Norma , Sonia concludes
the anecdote by turning away and never agreeing again. Sonia has disagreed to
many things, but not to a drug riddled woman predicting her kids would make it
against all odds. However, if one looks deeper into the text, it is clear the gesture
displays the author s opinion on the blatantly rigged system. The beginning of the
tale portrays Sonia as very shy... so conspicuous that [she] talked with [her] head
down, walked with [her] head down, and would have slept with [her] head down if
sleeping had demanded a standing position.(1) . In other words, someone who would
never speak out or disagree with the social norm of today because of their general
embarrassment

Health information technology (IT) is a great entity in many ways. It has provided
an easier way for nurses and physicians to access healthcare records, provides a quick
one click system to view test results with all this information available with the press
of a button, and can prevent medication administration errors by utilizing the
electronic medication administration record (eMAR). But with this technology and
ingenuity comes a string of issues and problems that may arise in the electronic health
record(EHR) programs. For this discussion board the Journal by Wallace et al.
(2013) will be used to, identify and define the two types of IT related incidents,

Two errors typically apply either by a human user error or from a system error. The
presented case study shows the dangers that may come from errors in the electronic
system specifically the eMAR. The potential harm to the patient was lethal and
could have resulted in death from the overdose in medication given. As the case
study teaches it is the duty of all nurses to exercise an atmosphere of patient safety.
Nurse leaders must cultivate patient safety by assuring nurses understand how to
properly use the online system and assure they know to report any glitches found to
the IT support team. Nurse awareness and prompt reporting of IT errors are essential
and could potentially save a patient s
45. Why Actin Is A Protein Of Any Cell
Actin
Introduction:
Proteins are the primary functionary macromolecules of any cell due to their vast
variety in function, which is a result of their amount of varying forms, and they are
polymers composed of amino acids. These functions include transportation, structural
support, motility, gene regulation, signal carrying and receiving, storage, and
catalyzing reactions; these functions are determined by the form of the protein. It
follows then that the many functions of proteins come from their multitude of forms
and their multiple levels of structure which are as follows: primary, secondary,
tertiary, and quaternary. The primary structure is most basic chain or sequence of
amino acids that accumulate into the alpha helices and beta sheets which compose
the secondary structure of a protein. The tertiary structure is a complete and three
dimensional polypeptide chain containing the secondary structures, folds, coils,
loops, and such that form a globular form. Quaternary structure is a single protein
formed by multiple polypeptide chains or multiple tertiary structures.
General Information on Actin:
Actin is a protein of moderate size that was discovered in an extraction of rabbit
muscle tissue by Bruno Ferenc Straub. Actin is the component of actin filaments
which are a major component in the cytoskeleton. This actin cytoskeleton that
structurally supports the cell membrane is quite important to the morphology of a
cell due to its spread, abundance, and general size; it can
48. Argumentative Essay On Aged Coffee
What is Aged coffee?
Recently, there has been an increase in aging of coffee. According to the saying,
Aged wine looks great, Aged whiskey taste good so is aged coffee. The saying is
not all about aged coffee or aged whiskey. Also, aged coffee is not that exceptional,
and it does not deserve the credit. Here is the history, hype, and truth about aged
coffee.
The History of Aged Coffee
Coffee was introduced to Europe in the mid 1500 s, it was referred to as aged
coffee. During that period, Mocha which is now Yemen was the primary supplier of
coffee in Europe. Importing coffee from Yemen to Europe takes a long journey
through the sea around the southern region of Africa. This long voyage is still held
when coffee production spread through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it is true for some aged coffees, others are merely outdated, old coffees that
are rebranded as a specialty product.
Also, most people believed that coffee age well, but this is highly controversial.
Some people even claim that the older a coffee gets, the better it tastes good, this
statement is also controversial.
The Belief behind Aged Coffee
It is only some particular types of coffee that age well, and they need to be aged
under some specified conditions or else they will lose their oils and affect the coffee
taste and flavor. This can make the coffee taste sour or bitter.
According to some specialists, they claimed that the coffee does not get better with
the long aging process because the coffee loses more flavor as it ages.
Which Coffee Type Age Properly?
In a nutshell, only a few types of unroasted coffee beans age suitably. However, the
best beans for aging must have a low acid content, though this might not be the
primary reason.
The best aging process may include low acid coffees from Indonesia and India,
notably the semi dry processed Sulawesi and Sumatra coffees, that may develop to a
spicy flavor as they age with time. Also, the acidic wet processed Latin American
coffees also get richer in taste as they

50. Marxism, Feminism And The Works Of Max Weber
The following essay is an attempt to explain and evaluate Marxism, Feminism and
the works of Max Weber. I will also attempt to relate each of these different
sociological explanations to contemporary society. According to Karl Marx (1818
1883) all the struggles of all societies throughout history are due to confrontations
of power and exploitation. Marx believed that all societies had divisions of class
and therefore inequality as a result of capitalism. He believed that capitalism would
always be antagonistic because one class could exploit another class instead of
working in a cooperative way. Marx was concerned about relationships between
individuals, predominately men, and their access to power; whether this was in
the form of scarce resources such as fuel, food and jobs. Marx believed that
separate individuals form a class only if they come together as a group in a
common interest to battle against the opposing class. In order to do this he
believed they would need to develop class consciousness . According to Marx it is
the self interest of capitalism that is so destructive to society and will always result
in inequality. Marxists continues to discuss class in terms of the stratification of
society and the lack of access of workers to the means of production today. We still
currently live in a capitalist society but debate continues about whether or not Marx s
ideology is relevant to contemporary society. Miliband (1969) said Notwithstanding
the existence of a

Since the dawn of civilization, humans ruled earth, taking what they pleased without
worrying about the consequences. Modern society has evolved to understand the
fundamental flaw in consuming the world s resources with abandon. As with the
hunting of many other species, whaling was an unregulated activity. However, in
1986, the world community shifted its stance on whalingand passed international
legislation banning commercial whaling. Dangerously close to being snuffed out, the
whales have begun to claw their way back from extinction. Despite the positive
strides taken on the behalf of whales, the murder of thousands of whales each year is
sanctioned by a number of countries under the guise of scientific research. Moreover,

Despite claiming the slaughter is needed to learn more about whales, Japan has not
offered any new worthwhile information about whales, with the exception that they
eat large quantities of krill (Zelko, 2013, p. A. 13) . Japan has been using this
excuse, among many others, since 1986. In the decades Japan has used this excuse,
it seems almost ridiculous that Japan has not learned anything new about the
mammals breeding, migratory, or any other habits. When Australia took Japan to the
International Court of Justice to challenge the validity of Japan s scientific whaling
industry, Australia s agent to the court, Bill Campbell, stated, Japan seeks to cloak
its ongoing commercial whaling in the lab coat of science. He later told journalists:
You don t kill 935 whales a year to conduct scientific research. You don t even need
to kill one whale to conduct scientific research (McCurry, 2013) .
Many whaling countries give the excuse that hunting whales is traditional. In Japan,
this justification is baseless. Japan did not begin whaling until after World War II
(Zelko, 2013, p. A. 13) . In other places such as the Faroe Islands, the practice is
actually traditional as it has taken place ever since the Viking settlers arrived there
(O Barry, 2013, p. 18) . Traditions are not always morally correct. Most customs are
not harmful, but whaling is not one of them. Hanging African Americans was once
seen as an acceptable custom as was burning women at the stake for being

As the exploration of the industrial development and increased speed of the urban
sprawl in Beijing, many severe environmental issues attribute mainly to the
anthropocentric activities have been come out of the scene. One of them is the air
pollution. Air pollution has been regarded as the most severe environment issue in
China since it has already threatened to physical health, especially for the
respiratory tract and lung. In January 2013, Beijing experienced historical heavy
air pollution. In this particular month, very few days were observed with blue sky.
(Lijian Han et.al., 2015) According to the analysis of the driving factors, the
population grew fast, and energy consumption and the number of vehicles increased
rapidly (Ju Zhang et.al., 2010), these factors add together can make the air quality
worse than any one of them separately can. Firstly, it has been an undoubted truth
that more and more people originally lived in rural has been moved to core urban of
Beijing since there are more opportunities in there. Therefore, the huge explosion of
urban population with more energy release and more CO2 exhalation is seen as an
inevitably primary factor causing the bad air quality. What s more, as the population

I will be doing a teaching presentation for teachers and staff workers at St Mary s
preschool center. The director of the preschool stated the need for education on the
most common rashes that children have. It is important for staff to conduct a daily
health check on all children upon entering the facility, which includes checking for
rashes. Young children do not have developed immune systems they are more likely
to develop illnesses. These children are more likely to be in close contact with each
other and use their hands to wipe their faces thus spreading infection. Health checks
help reduce the transmission of infectious diseases in children by identifying and
isolating the infected child. The problem the daycare workers face is there
