2. What is the Internet?
The Internet is a world wide system of computer networks. It is a
virtual world where you can visit places, talk to people any where
and find information.
HOW WAS THE INTERNET INVENTED?
An American computer scientist discovered away to share
information from computer to computer and called it a network. 5
years later, many were developed in the government, businesses

the World Wide Web.

send and receive information instantly around the world. This

is also no need to worry that a book will ‘crash’ or become infected
with a ‘virus’ as computers sometimes do.
6. What are the advantages and disadvantages
of the web?
Advantages:
1. It has allowed information to be obtained quickly.
2. It can improve communication with people across continents.
3. You can use it anywhere in the world where there is a Web
connection.
Disadvantages:
1. You do not actually know or meet the people you are talking to
online.
2. There can be the problem of a ‘traffic jam’ on the electronic
‘highway’ because too many people are using the Internet.
3. Your computer may be infected with a virus or having personal
information stolen from it.
