Training Programs Offered
1. Nuances of Impact Assessment
The module focuses on informing participants on the nuances of impact assessment, which will in turn
increase the value of programs to the people they serve. Sessions at the workshop will help CSR, NGOs,
Social Enterprises and social development personnel to plan better, implement more effectively, facilitate
accountability, support stakeholder communication and successfully guide the allocation of scarce
resources. It will make the case for and present ways to incorporate impact assessment processes into the
design and delivery of development interventions. The training process is designed to be interactive.
Some of the training tools that will be used are Worksheets, Scoping, Think-Pair-Share, Case study and
Post-it brainstorming.
2. Introduction to the Collective Impact Framework
Collective Impact is a framework to tackle deeply entrenched and complex social problems. It is an
innovative and structured approach to making collaboration work across government, business,
philanthropy, non-profit organisations and citizens to achieve significant and lasting social change. Tools
focused on systems-thinking/ visualizing, network-mapping, asset-based inquiry, collaboration, collective
strategy, and technology-enhanced connectivity are shared in this module. It will help personnel and
organisations to develop flagship social projects which link organisational core competencies and social
good, create company/industry specific benchmarks and provide networking opportunities to share best
practices in the field.

Overview of Modules
2. 3. Social Return on Investment Methodology
SROI analysis helps to make strategic choices, to plan interventions and to gain a clear overview of the
obtained results. It is designed in such a way that it includes different types of data, such as narrative,
qualitative, quantitative and financial information, which helps achieve transparency and which allows
communicating the expected and obtained results of interventions and helps to establish accountability
towards stakeholders.
The module will inform participants on the framework, for demonstrating social and economic value that
goes beyond the standard financial measurement. Furthermore, it will help to increase the efficiency,
effectiveness and relevance of work as it assists all stakeholders in reflecting on how activities and
interventions are contributing towards the intended social impacts. The SROI analysis training can help
stakeholders to value and reflect on their own (future) contribution and helps them to think by pondering
on investments and created value. It enables to measure the results of activities in a participatory way,
thus enriching the (development) objectives of the organization and providing learning opportunities.
4. Basics on social Program design, implementation and evaluation
Content of this training is based on internationally recognized theories, studies and frameworks. These
included human centered design developed by IDEO, design-thinking approaches drawing on tools
from SAP and Stanford University, participatory program design pioneered by Dr. Robert Chambers,
stakeholder mapping and consultation processes adopted by USAID, OECD, World Bank and other
multilateral organizations. Popular frameworks of evaluation like logic models and theory of change
informed participants on outcome-based programs. Institution building, communication for development
(Com4Dev), and concepts of the 4-pillar model of sustainability and the ‘creating shared value’ concept of
FSG are explored.
5. Workshops on ‘Exploring Sustainable Development Goals’
To deliberate on the possible way forward to achieve the ambitious and inclusive 2030 Agenda and
reflect on opportunities to integrate efforts to meet these aspirations, 4th Wheel has launched a
workshop series on ‘Achieving the SDGs in India’. Methodologies include SARAR: to train people by
using a participatory approach and group-based techniques, Design thinking: to make people think out-
of-the-box and come up with innovative solutions, Fishbowls: useful for ventilating “hot topics” or sharing
ideas or information from a variety of perspectives and World Café: drawing on seven integrated design
principles, the methodology is a simple, effective, and flexible format for hosting large group dialogues.
We want to focus on each one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), exploring their
status quo, best practices and challenges for rural India in a series of interactive and hands-on
workshops. We believe in multi-stakeholder dialogue and engagement and count on expert
knowledge and experience of leading players in the development field. We want our participants
to jointly find the best solutions possible for rural India‘s most pressing issues and encourage
their engagement by applying a highly participatory workshop methodology.
3. 6. Reporting and Documentation - Messages, Messengers and Methods
The module provides an insight to systems of collecting, storing, consolidating and analysing work of
organisations with reporting templates that can cater to information requirements. Developing reports
and communication material aimed at improving transparency and enhancing oversight, in order to
facilitate effective performance monitoring, evaluation and corrective action is an important component
of this module. This includes monthly reports, quarterly reports, case studies, event documentation, etc. It
further provides a practical introduction to storytelling approaches, which could be applied in grassroots
program evaluation, present methods, tools and techniques to develop stories and ways to share and
highlight them. This will enable organisations to develop a culture of regular documentation, involve
stakeholders to develop a unique social story and use innovative approaches. Further, determining the
right communication channels and understanding the social media landscape will be covered by using
the Inspire, Educate and Reinforce framework.
