4. Parliament
• Is bicameral legislature
• Parliament is formed by the House of Representatives (the lower
house) and Senate (the upper house)
• The parliament was established on January 1, 1993 when the Czech
Republic became independent
• The lower house – is formed by 200 representatives, who are elected
for 4 years
• The upper house – is formed by 81 senators, who are elected for 6
years

5. Government
• Executive power is divided between the government and the president
• The government consists of the Prime Minister, deputy prime
ministers and ministers (which makes 18 people in total)
• Its current housing estate is a building called Strakova Academy in
Prague
• The government is devided into 14 ministries
• The head of the government is the Prime Minister
