How to process data in SPSS ?
1. Data processing is simply the conversion of raw data to
meaningful information. It is concerned with editing, coding,
classifying, tabulating and charting and diagramming research
data.
3. Once all your data is entered in SPSS, run
frequencies on all your variables to check you’ve
not got an obscure number within your data.
Go to analyse > Descriptive Statistics >
frequencies.
Move all your variables to the right hand box and
click ok.
4. Check there are no unusual or unexpected values within
each of your variables.
5. The data grid has two views of the data,
the Data tab view of the actual data and
the Variables tab view of the data structure.

Add, insert and delete records
Sort records by variable values
Add, insert and delete variables
7. The Variables tab contains the descriptions and
attributes for each variable of the data file. Columns are
the variable attributes and the rows are the variables.
The Variables tab lets you:
Cut, copy, paste and delete variable attribute values
Undo/Redo or Discard all changes
Add, insert and delete variable
