 Meant to eliminate grammar, spelling and punctuation errors.
 Ensures good transition from sentence to sentence, paragraph to
paragraph, and point to point.
 Involves:
 Correcting spelling mistakes
 Ensuring every word is written in correct English i.e. British or American
English
 Eliminating redundant words and clichés
 Minimizing passive voice
 Breaking long sentences into constituent statements
 Inserting breathers and conjunctions where necessary

 Getting rid of direct translation (mostly applies to ESL speakers)
 Ensure all citations are in the list of references and vice versa
 Ensure the document is cited and formatted correctly: APA, MLA,
Harvard, Oxford, Chicago, ASA, Turabian, Bluebook etc.
