 Toughness is ability to control emotions and persevere
challenges
 Leader should be firm and kind in their actions
 As a leader, bouncing back challenge and remain steady
and stable is important
 Toughness and resilience is realized when leaders use
mental processes and behaviors to protect one from
effect of stressor
 Leaders learn and evolve after misstep and setback by
following strategies:
 What does not kill, make one stronger
 There is a lesson after a misstep
 Remain optimistic on lessons, the glass is
half full analogy
 Loss, mistakes and misstep are inevitable.
The purpose should what you learn from
them.
 Taking a step back and breath is important
Learn a lessons from mistake

care of yourself first
 A Leader should set aside time for
activities that contribute to well being. For
example, a walk in the park.
 A leader is not a slave of work. Balancing
work and health can boost resilience
 Sleep well, eat well and exercise well.
Take time to indulge yourself

 Resilience calls for adapting to diverse
cultures and personalities
 A leader should understand basic life
principle, many things might not go your
way.
 Accept failure as a friend
 Leaders should have patience in
understanding others ability to learn at

 As its explained in psychology, intrinsic
drives last longer than external
motivators
 If the drive is from within, a leader
