MOBILE OS DESKTOP OS
A mobile phone is a compact machine with small
battery size so the OS should designed in a simple
way to work with limited power for a longer period of
time.
Desktop Operating Systems are designed keeping
computers in mind. They provide an environment
that helps in the better functioning of different
application software having a wide range of
connected hardware
Mobile OS does not supports multiple users sharing a
network.
. Desktop OS supports multiple users sharing a
network.
Limited memory is available in mobile phones,
therefore the OS should be less complex to occupy
less storage capacity.
Desktop OS also have limited memory but has much
more storage capacity.

TYPES OF MOBILE OPERATING SYSTEMS
? Nowadays the mobile OS are gaining even more popularity than the
computer OS and because of the increasing demand of Mobile OS,
there are various different types of mobile OS available nowadays.
Some of the popular mobile OS are-

ANDROID OPERATING SYSTEM
The Android Operating System is a Linux-based OS developed by the Open Handset Alliance
(OHA). Android OS shipments overtook those of Symbian in the 4th Quarter of 2010, dislodging the
later from the number one spot among smartphone OSs.
It is an open source and freely available Linux based operating system mainly designed for
smartphones and tablets with touch screen.
It has all the basic operating features such as calls and messaging that can be used to establish
connections using different communication networks on different devices.
Each time the OHA releases an Android version, it names the release after a dessert. Android 1.5
is known as Cupcake, 1.6 as Donut, 2.0/2.1 as Éclair, 2.2 as Froyo and 2.3 is dubbed Gingerbread.
Once a version is released, so is its source code.
It is an open source system so it can easily be modified by anyone making it prone to malwares
and data stealing.

? I was originally developed for Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) in
1988 by Symbian Ltd. I was used by many famous brands such as
Samsung, Nokia and Sony Ericsson. In 2006 I was the most famous
mobile OS so Nokia took over me in 2010 and named me Symbian
Foundation.
? But unfortunately my touchscreen wasn't as smooth as Android or
iOS and with increase in popularity of Android and iOS in 2012, I lost
popularity and my market value. So Nokia discontinued my usage
as a smartphone mobile OS.
