The music video received positive feedback for its clear narrative structure mixed with live performance elements. Audience members liked the slightly blurred shots of the band playing as it concealed their identity. Feedback indicated the abrupt ending could have been stronger and more definite. The digipak cover featuring characters from the video was liked, but the space between tracks on the CD and DVD could be reduced. The magazine advert was praised for its simplicity, eye-catching fonts and conveying necessary information. Audience research provided insight into how to improve products and what elements succeeded in engaging the target audience.
2. Music Video
Our music video received positive feedback from our audience. They said that they liked
the “clear narrative structure” with clear binary opposition mixed with the “live
performance”. We did this because on our survey we found out that our target audience
liked a mixture of both narrative and performance. Our audience liked the slightly blurred
shots of the band playing. We included these as it meant that the identity of the band is
not revealed. We did this as Queen is iconic that we didn't want to replicate the band as it
would feel to over the top and would distract from the narrative and the song. We had a
Punctuated equilibrium structure however we were told that we could have had a stronger
and more definite ending as the one we had was too abrupt. We chose the abrupt ending
on purpose as it leaves it leaves the fate of the characters open to interpretation. We
included many of the conventions Andrew Goodwin talked about such as notions of
looking when we show Charlie looking into the camera and holding a banana instead of a
gun. The banana also gives the video a sense of surrealism but is also self aware as it is
not a weapon.
3. Digipak
◦ Our digipak received positive
feedback from our audience as
they said that it not only
interesting to look at but they
liked that it had characters from
our music video on the cover as
well. However one thing that they
would change is the space in the
middle of the track listing for the
Cd and DVD. Instead of having
the space there we could
rearrange the track listings to
create less of a gap between
them.

4. Magazine advert
◦ Like with our digipak, our magazine advert
also received positive feedback from our
audience. Our audience said that the
magazine was “simple” and “too the
point”. They liked the layout of our
magazine and the fonts that we used as
they were “eye-catching”. The simplicity
of the magazine advert allows us to tell
the audience all the information that
they need to know about the digipak.

5. Audience Research
◦ Our audience research has helped with analysing our products as it allowed
us to see what other people thought of the products that we have created. It
has helped us to see how we can improve our products but also what we
have done well. Through the audience feedback we have received we have
gotten a better idea of what it was that our audience liked about the
different elements of each product or ancillary text.
