IITA: Completion of the bar-coding of the
entire yam field genebank.
Long-Term Benefits: reduction of accession mismatches, reduction of
mistakes in the management of the collections, and increase
efficiencies and better-management of the collection.


CIAT: New bean species.
Long-Term Impact: Species is the first one in the genus Phaseolus found in a
very humid forest, and this may open new possibilities for tackling fungal
diseases affecting the pods, leaves, or the root system.


 CIMMYT: ISO 9001 certification for
 Maize genebank (expected completion in 2012).
 Long-Term Benefits: Enhancing the quality standards to internationally
 recognized and verifiable levels.
