3. Equipment
As a big part of my project is videography, It will be essential I use a good camera which can capture good
quality video. College can allow me to book out an EOS 600D camera which doing some research can get me
good image quality and has a convenient variable angle screen. Its disadvantage is that its focus when filming
isn't consistent which could be an issue because when doing my videography, it will require a lot of movement
and zooming in and out. In videography, Camera stability is very important meaning I would have to buy a
stability rig which for cameras is expensive

4. As the camera rig is expensive, I would have to rent or borrow one from somebody
I know. Alternatively, I could just use my phone to record as it still has good quality.
It has a 5X digital zoom, optical image stabilization, shoots 4K video at 60 frames
per second and now offers 240fps slow motion recording at 1080p. This I think
should be more than enough to make my video and for stability I could get much
cheaper stability rigs as shown above.
I have access to borrowing a DJI Pocket 2 which is a pocket sized,
handheld 4k camera with built in 3 axis stability. This could be useful
because I plan to film some people skating which following them with a
small camera which is as stable as this will be perfect. It can also be put
on a pole like a selfie stick to record towards me.
Camera - iPhone 8 review | TechRadar
5. I am going to need a canon 600D camera because
away from my 360 camera, It will allow me to do
some hand held videography which will look natural
in my video and also some photography images of
my models clothes for some still images.
It will be important that I have an additional battery
for my camera and charger as I will be filming over
the easter holiday on multiple occasions. It also
means that I can film for longer when I am out.
I will need to bring a video SD card to store my
footage which I take on the camera.
When I am in the studio introducing the
documentary idea and what I want I plan to show,
Having a still video of me talking to the camera will
look professional and neat.
I am going to need an audio recorder to record the
audio of any voice over and interview in my
documentary. It will come through way better than
the built in microphone on the 600D canon or
Insta360 camera
6. I have asked and requested a booking for the camera equipment from my
tutor Chelsea for the half term holidays and dates I plan to go and film. If
parts aren’t available, I can alternatively use my phone to film a lot of the
content.
I will bring a power bank for my iPhone so that I can film for longer if needed as it is
portable and convenient for pocket usage. If for some reason the 360 camera isn’t
available obviously it is a big knock on the variety of shots I can do however, I have a
phone compatible fish eye lens that I can use to create a similar effect as a back up.
7. Facilities
All my editing will take place on my college computer which I have access to all days I
am in college. I will be using software such as Adobe Premiere pro, Adobe After effects
and Photoshop. When using my insta360 pro I will be using has editing settings on the
mobile app which I plan to use ready to put onto Premiere. I will use the college studio
facilities with a backdrop and lighting for some of my recording.
8. Colour schemes
It is important for me to chose different colour schemes for each of my separate
showcase and parts of my documentary. Each colour scheme must help to represent
the personality and character of my models.
Lloyd and the skaters
When I am filming Lloyds showcase I plan to use these colours for the colour scheme as I think they portray the idea of fun
which is the connotation which I want to show in my video. I think the colour blue will be visual in the sky of my video as I plan
to film on a warm day in the easter holidays. It should also be presented in the jeans which the skaters wears as their tradition
when skating is wearing oversized blue jeans. The reason I want to use the colour blue is because it has the connotation of fun,
freedom and imagination which is portrayed in the skater group when they spend their days skating and learning new tricks
stress free. The colour orange will mainly be shown through effects which I will include on screen in the showcase. I want to
involve orange as it symbolises fun and joy which will show through the skaters having fun in my video. I also think that the
colour orange is a colour which connitates to warmth which as it will be a warm summers day when I film, will spread a happy
feeling to my audience.
9. Colour schemes
Hope and piper
When I film hope and pipers showcase, the colour scheme that I want to go for will
be green and red because it gives off an edgy and almost scary theme. They are
frequently used gothic themed colours which I now as hope wears a lot of red and
dark green around college. Its not that I want my audience to be intimidated and
scared by hope and piper in the showcase but I want the video to surprise them and
give them enough edginess to be engaged and think about what they are watching.
The colour red can have connotations of love, anger and war. Although love and war
contradict each other, it can sometimes represent their mental state which they said
in my research.
10. Colour Scheme
Matt and Alfie
When filming Matt and Alfie's showcase for my video the colour scheme I will aim
to use the colours black, Night blue and Blood red. I think these colours are
appropriate because they link to the context of matt and Alfie's edgy personalities.
In my research on them and things which they like I saw that Alfie is interested in a
game called bloodborne which has a dark theme, advertised in dark red and blue
and so I will include these in my video to emphasise the personality of matt and
Alfie. Alt street fashionwear is mainly based on the colour black which will be
shown in the video when matt and Alfie will mainly be wearing black. Although
Alfie and matts personalities can be perceived as dark and edgy, they can also be
quite fun and energetic so In my video I will show this contrast by involving brighter
scenery which will contrast from the dark parts.
11. Personnel and Costume
The Crew: I will be the only member of crew to take my images and videos of my models. I
specialize in videography work so it will be one of my strong points when making the
documentary. I also have been practicing all year on social media styled video so that is another
one of my strengths going to making the documentary. I will put as much time into the project as
possible as specially in the Easter holiday because I also work a job 3 days every week and have
other commitments in modelling for friends during the week.
The Cast: I will have a few models for my Project.
Hope:
Hope has a very expressive gothic fashion sense which is why I chose her model for my project. I
will be filming with hope in college hours which is convenient as we don’t have to organize any
travelling or extra costing in travel and food as they will be in college anyways. Filming for the 3 of
us will take place on the first Friday morning after half term because that is the time which we all
do not have lesson.
12. Alfie & Matt:
Alfie and matt have a very distinct fashion sense of streetwear which isn’t basic.
Therefore I am choosing term to model for my project. I plan to film Alfie and Matt in
York during half term which we have planned on the second week during the week
which is a time we aren't working. I know that matt works later hours on a weekend
in which clashes with my plan to film them in the evening/night so I will choose a
day we would usually be in college (Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) to film them. I
will have to pay expenses from travelling them and myself into town and if filming
goes until late, food may have to be bought for them.
Lloyd & Skaters:
Lloyd and the skating community all have their own interpretation of skate clothing
which is why I wanted their group of skaters to model for my project will film Lloyd
and his skating community on the second week of Easter Half term. After speaking to
Lloyd, he suggest that himself and his crew like to skate on sunny days in the
afternoon so I will make sure I can be available for them. It will cost me travel to get to
the skatepark and back so I will have to consider that alongside food for the day.
13. Music
I will be using 3 different song for my showcases for my 3 sets of models. Each song
will be a song relevant to the models aesthetic. As I found that music is one of the
biggest influences on a 16-24 year olds fashion sense I think that it is important that I
involve a song which my models enjoy listening to during their showcase
From my research matt and Alfie
like to listen to playboy Carti
who is an artist which inspires
them both when it comes to
what they like to wear so I think
its appropriate to include a song
by him. Playboy carti is a well
known artist by most of my 16-
24 year old audience so it should
appeal to most of my audience
From my research of
hope and piper one of
their big music
inspirations is are death
blooms who are a
metal/punk band. This
genre of music is
associated within goth
culture which I think will
appeal to my part goth
audience
From my research of Lloyd and the
skating crew, Lloyd mentions how
skaters like to listen to 90s hip-hop and
Lloyd specifically mentioned wu-tang
clan in which it would be appropriate to
put on a wu-tang clan song on in the
background of their showcase. 90s hip
hope is a music genre well known to
nower days general youth culture in
which my audience will be familiar with
it

22. Locations
Location 1: College studio
I think that for sections of my video where I
am just talking to my audience for example,
the introduction and outro, It would be a
good idea to use the studio with a white
background as It would juxtapose when I film
my model's ad showcase them in outdoor
areas. This is a place in college so I will need
to book this out for when I want.
Sim Balk Ln, Bishopthorpe, York YO23 2BB
23. Location 2: Rowntree's Park Skate park
I want to film Lloyd and some of the skating
community in an area which they surround
themselves around all the time so I can capture
them in there element but more importantly in
the clothes which they wear . This means that I
can film some of them skating to show my
audience what they can do which they will enjoy.
This is a location which is out of college which I
will need to organize a time and place for
people, preferably in the half term holidays. One
of my limitations when filming there could be
that some of the community may not want to be
on camera in which it is important that I ask for
permission of all of the skaters that I can take
photos and videos of them
Address: Terry Ave, York YO23 1JQ
24. Location 3: York College Car Park (Backup)
In case of any inconvenience of any of the other locations
which I plan to film in, The college car park will be a good
place where I can film to showcase the clothes because It is
quite plain and has decent lighting to be able to experiment
and show different connotations for my different models
using my editing skills. It works well with weather because
as it is an inside car park I will not need to worry about poor
weather making it accessible whenever I want it. It works
well because it is in college where all of my models will be
when I am there in case of last minute changes however
there are limitations. One thing which I will need to
consider is what time I am filming there because if it is first
thing in the morning or last thing of the day, It will be a busy
time for cars to pass through as people are going in or
leaving college. Best times I can be using the car park would
probably be during lunch time or during a working period as
everyone would be in lesson.
Sim Balk Ln, Bishopthorpe, York YO23 2BB
25. Location 4: Leeman Road York
When filming my Alt streetwear fashion boys, I want to find a dark and urban place for them which I think
Leeman road in York is good. It has a tunnel and an abandoned petrol station [image below isn’t updated]
which looks edgy which is partially the tone I want to go for. It is also important that I keep the urban look
as essentially it is streetwear but a more darker version. As it is in town and not college I plan to meet matt
and Alfie during the half term holiday to film. A limitation which I may face when filming on Leeman road
that it is a public path which means pedestrians and cyclists will be passing through which may disturb me
when filming. The petrol station which I plan on filming is a couple of minutes walk from the tunnel and a
cross of the road so I will have to warn my cast of the dangers in that area such as cars constantly passing
by. Weather wise, later in the second week of half term is when the weather begins to be consistently
warm and sunny which I think is the best time for me to go out and film.
26. Location 5: Park and ride Bridge
When filming with Hope I plan to use the bridge under the
park and ride entrance opposite York college. I think that this is
a good place to film because it is under the bridge and looks
quite dark which I think can give some edgy connotations
which correlates to hope and her personality. It would also
work well because its darkness will produce lots of dark
corners which I want to put emphasis on when I am colour
grading. A limitation I will need to consider when I go to film
there because it is out of college premises in which straight
after college hours will probably be the most convenient time
to go. Only issue as well would be that I would have to plan
with hope to get a lift home as she gets on a college bus which
would leave before we finish filming. I would also like to
consider the weather in which I would have to pick a day
which is sunny as I would like to capture the contrast from the
darkness under the bridge and the sunny outside nature.
Another limitation I would experience is that it is also a public
path in which bikes and pedestrians always cross through so it
may be difficult to film when people are passing through.
27. Week What I plan to complete
1 In my first week of production I plan on completing the rest of my planning and completing my
shot list and other material ready to go out and film in the Easter Holiday.
2 (easter) In the easter holidays I will have access to a 360 Camera in which I plan to use when filming
the skaters. I will also have to edit the clips which I take using the Insta360 R app.
3 In the first week back after easter I plan to do some filming with hope and piper using my
fisheye lens to showcase the goth fashion aesthetic. A side from that within college hours I will
make a start on editing my footage of the skaters which I acquired over easter.
4 In this week of production I plan to finish off my editing of the skaters as. I will then hopefully
find time to film matt and Alfie showcasing the alt streetwear fashion aesthetic. During college
(Thursday and Friday) I plan to make my start on editing hope and pipers footage.
5 On Wednesday I hope to finish my editing of hope and pipers footage. I will then
make a studio booking to record some narration for the documentary. Over the
Thursday and Friday I will be mainly editing Matt and Alfie's footage.
6 In the basically last week of production this is when I plan to create an intro and
outro and then piece everything together to make the documentary complete. I will
then send it to my tutor and get some feedback.
7/Evaluati
on week
In this week I would like to give myself some time in college to respond to the
feedback which I get from my project and make some changes to improve the
overall video. I will then begin evaluating the project
28. Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Cars when filming I must make sure that me, my models and all of my
kit are a good distance away from the road when
travelling to locations such as park and ride bridge
and Leeman road.
Eye strain I will make sure that I use my breaks well during
college hours away from my computer so that I have
time away from looking at my screen
Cables in the studio When using the studio facility, it is important that I
tuck wires and cables away in a safe place so that me
or any other crew member doesn’t trip or cause any
electrical issues.
Pedestrians and Bikes (park and ride bridge) When filming, especially at the park and ride bridge
it is important that I am aware of the pedestrian and
cyclists passing so to avoid annoy issues I will have a
crew member to look out for any warning of
inconvinience.
Skaters (Rowntree's park skate park It is important that my skaters only do tricks which
they are comfortable to do and do not attempt
anything which could get them hurt. I will also film in
an area outside the main skate park with plenty of
space to avoid collision with other skaters
29. Contingency planning
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Computer data wipe I will make sure I am saving all my work on to
OneDrive before any scheduled computer wipe
(usually any college holiday) and will have a backup
options such as USB stick
SD card full I will carry extra SD cards with me when shooting.
Battery runs out I will carry extra batteries when I am out filming.
Software crash Having less tabs open on the computer can help
reduce the amount of software crashes.
College shutting for GCSE’s I unfortunately can't avoid this issue however,
booking days off work to make up for the time is
something I can do which would help
College Wi-Fi downtime Bringing a laptop with me to college where I can use
my hotspot on for wifi as a backup for when the wifi
is down
