3. WHAT IS ANALOGY?
-Analogy shows a relationship between words.
-It is a comparison of two things that is quite different from each
other.
-It describes or explains one thing by examining its similarities with
other things.
HOW DOES IT IMRPOVE OUR THINKING SKILLS?
-It help us learn new words and develop our critical thinking by
determining the relationship between words with related ideas.
4. In showing
relationships, analogy
uses double colon to
split the pair of words
into two parts.
UP:DOWN :: HOT:COLD
(1st part) (2nd part)
It reads as, UP is an opposite of DOWN, just as HOT is an
opposite of COLD.
NOTE: These two pair of words is an example of ANTONYM
ANALOGY RELATIONSHIP.
