• IGATE is an IT service company,
headquartered in Bridgewater, New Jersey.
• The firm operates in North America, Asia,
Europe, Japan and Australia, providing
technology and procurement services.
• Recently on 27th April 2015, French IT group
Capgemini acquired IGATE for $4bn.
3. • The client is a global leader in the oil & gas industry.
• The client followed an independent sourcing strategy
for each of its different line of business(LOBs).
• Lack of centralized mechanism for sourcing product
hampered client’s ability to negotiate effectively with
its suppliers.
4. • To improve its sourcing process, the client
decided to centralize its procurement process.
• This would help the client to improve the
procurement initiatives for different LOBs.
5. Solution Overview
• IGATE used its Business intelligence development
roadmap based on Interactive and iterative
development methodology(IIDM).
• With a planned roadmap, IGATE helped the client to
successfully integrate data from 35 diverse sources.
6. Benefits
• The procurement data warehouse has provided a
single move for different sourcing initiatives
undertaken by various LOBs.
• The data warehouse captures over 98% of the spend
information across the organization.
• Quality of data in the data warehouse has increased
the confidence in the accuracy of the data.
7. ETL: Informatica Power Center 7.0
ETL: Extraction,
Transform and Load
from different
heterogeneous data
sources to commonly
one data source
10. Product Overview
Unified Environment
•All in one server based
product
•Reduces deployment cost
•Vastly improves BI time-
to-market
•Performance
management system: Six
sigma, Metrica
Management, Time Series
15. Portal Management : Tibco
• Portal in simpler terms is a collection of a variety of useful
information into a one-stop Web page
• Igate portal has the functionalities of Discover, Capture,
Manipulate, Distribute & consult
BENEFITS
• Increases customer and partner satisfaction
• Improves the productivity and decision-making of employees
• Decreases HR and call centre overhead
• Reduces training expenses
• Improves executive visibility into internal operations, supply chain,
and distribution channel activities with executive dashboards.
16. Web server : iPlanet 6.0
• A web server is a computer that runs a computer program which
provides the above functionality
• Main key performance parameters are:
– number of requests per second
– latency response time in milliseconds
– throughput in bytes per second
• iPlanet features
– Virtual Server Support
– Server Administration
– Protection from Common Threats
– Data Encryption and Security
– Built-in search engine
17. Application servers : Tomcat, Weblogic 7.0
• An application server is a server program in a computer within a distributed
network that provides the business logic for an application program.
• The application server is frequently viewed as part of a three-tier application,
consisting of GUI server, an application server, and a database and transaction
server.
• Tomcat is a web server which can run servlets and JSP.
• Tomcat is owned by Apache Software Foundation
• Weblogic is an application server which can run EJBs also.
• Weblogic is owned by Oracle. Weblogic fully supports the Java Enterprise Edition
like EJB.
• Few distinctions between Tomcat & Weblogic:
Transaction management can be done in Weblogic but it can’t be done in Tomcat.
Weblogic supports both Http and Ftp but Tomcat only supports Http.
Oracle WebLogic Server Process Edition also include Business Process
Management and Data Mapping functionality.
WebLogic supports security policies managed by security administrators.
18. Procurement Data Analysis
• Bubble Charts
• Visual BI
• Deeper insights
• Interactive and iterative development
methodology
19. Conclusion
• By building a centralized global procurement
data warehouse, IGATE helped a leader in
integrated communications improve its spend
analysis process on different product
categories across a diverse set of suppliers.
• These solutions can accelerate growth by
employing features such as built-in data
models, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and
executive dashboards.
20. • To help clients meet the demands of today
and plan for tomorrow, BI is the need of the
hour
Notes de l'éditeur
Redo log files: consists of two or more preallocated files that store all changes made to the database as they occur. Every instance of an Oracle Database has an associated redo log to protect the database in case of an instance failure.
What is a Portal
Collection of a variety of useful information into a one-stop Web page
Bridges to information silos
Access points that reach across deep and surface web content
Online access to intranet corporate information
One-stop information access point
Google with “good” content
Portals versus Websites
Portals do not replace Websites
External users still need access to your home page
Portals are designed to be access points to specific information and places
Portals work well in intranets and extranets
Portal functionality
Discover -High quality searching
Capture -Harvesting and delivery tools
Manipulate -Text-processing and citation management tools
Distribute -Contribution and publication tools
Consult -Access to Virtual/Online Reference and electronic scholarly communities
Portal characteristics
Single, powerful search
Fast and powerful
Integration of diverse content (public web, licensed journals, digitized materials, news feeds, etc.)
Searches across formats and record syntaxes
Searches may be limited by range of options (subject, format, date)
Results are deduped, sorted and may be ranked by relevancy
Content may be searched by subject
Supports authentication
Supports authorization
Can be personalized
Can be customized
Integrates appropriate applications such as course management software or citation building tools, etc.
