 What is training?
The process of bringing a person to an agreed standard
of proficiency, by practice and instruction. Training has
specific goals of improving one’s capability, capacity
and productivity.
Types of Traditional training methods
Traditional training methods can be organized into
three broad categories
 Presentation method
 Hands-on method
 Group building method
Presentation method
In this method trainees are passive recipients of
information. The trainer basically present information
through various methods like
a) Lecture
b) Audio visual techniques.
Hands-on method
It is the training method that requires the trainee to be
actively involved in learning. This method include:

Group building methods
It is designed to improve team or group
effectiveness. In this method trainee share ideas
and experience, build group identity, get to
know their own strengths and weaknesses and
of their co-workers also.

Action learning
It is an educational process whereby people learn and
work together by tackling real issue and reflecting on
their action. Learner acquire knowledge through actual
action and practice rather than through traditional
instruction.
