 The main institutions are that in May 2011, representatives from MGM
and Screen Gems announced that the two companies were producing a
film remake of Carrie which is based on a novel by Stephen King. It cost
$30 million to produce the film.
 Sony estimated the revenue for the opening weekend of Carrie as
between $16 million and $18 million. However, the final takings totalled
$16,101,552 and the film was ranked at number 3
behind Gravity and Captain Philips, both of which were in their second
and third weeks, respectively. It is the 67th highest-grossing film of
2013 in the United States.
 The production company is Misher Films. Misher Films aren’t really that
well-known, although Carrie is the most popular/recent film they have
produced.
 Other films Misher Films have produced are: Europa
Report (2013),Playing for Keeps (2012), Mirror Mirror: The Untold
Adventures of Snow White (2012),The Scorpion King 3, Battle for
Redemption (2012) and It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010). The majority of
these other films weren’t really successful although Mirror Mirror: The
Untold Adventures of Snow White (2012) box office was $166,170,922.
Where's Europa Reports (2013) box office was $125, 687.
 The production company for 28 Days Later is DNA Films, the film
was disturbed by 20th Century Fox (United Kingdom).
 £5,000,000 was used to produce the film.
 28 Days Later was a considerable success at the box office and
became highly profitable on a budget of about £5 million. In the
UK, it took in £6.1 million, while in the US it became a surprise
hit, taking over $45 million despite a limited release at fewer
than 1,500 screens across the country. The film garnered around
$82.7 million worldwide.
 DNA Films, aren’t really that well-known, although 28 Days Later
was quite a popular film.
 Other films DNA Films have produced are: Sunshine on Leith
(2013), Dredd (2012), Never Let Me Go (2010) and The History
Books (2006). These films weren't really that successful as they
were never really advertised that well.
 DNA Films have two films coming out in 2015, these are Far from
the Madding Crowd and Ex Machina.
 The ultimate difference between the two there
budget. The process of writing/making/producing a
film in both films is basically the same, as how you
make them are the same. The difference is the
creative freedom that comes with more money
available for production. The more money you have
means that you can attract bigger names to be in
your film, not just the cast, but directors, composers
etc. You also have a better budget for things like
special effects and post production. Filming in certain
locations can be very expensive and big budget films
can spend more money to be able to shoot in
expensive locations e.g. London and New York.
 They both use special effects, although low-budget
films don’t use no where near as
many.
 They both use props, although low budget
props may be rented/made on the cheap.
 Actors/actresses may appear in both
 Misher Films are usually action/horror films, as
they have the high budget to do the special
effects needed. Action films are usually located in
a high budget area e.g. New York. Misher Films
produces action films are they have the necessary
funds to set the film in good/well-known
places/cities.
 DNA Films are a British based company and
usually produces rom-coms/action comedy's.
This is because comedies are relatively cheap to
do as they don’t need to be set in fancy locations
if the gags used are relatable/funny.
 Both Misher Films and DNA Films appeal to
teenagers and young adults worldwide as
there films can be seen as relatable/suitable
to their age groups. Most of their films
produced are rated as a 15, although a few
are rated as an 18, these films would appeal
to young adults.
 Personally, I believe that Misher Films
outperforms DNA Films as they offer more
films and genres, therefore catering for their
audiences needs/wants more. Misher Films
are also more famous than DNA Films are
they high budget films are therefore attract
the better actors/actresses.
