  7. 7. NDNC/DNC  NDNC: an opportunity to limit the telemarketing calls they receive  DNC: telemarketers are prohibited from calling in most circumstances. DO NOT CALL OR DO NOT Disturb WHY ??  The authority been receiving complaints from various quarters regarding telemarketing calls and unsolicited SMSs  Disturb the recipients, intrude into their privacy and impose a cost  the Authority initiated a consultation process with all the stakeholders and came out with a comprehensive regulation called the Telecom Unsolicited Commercial Communications Regulations in June 2007 MET Institute of Management Business Environment 6

MNP (contd..)  For the month of January, the maximum number of requests in Zone-I (North and West India) were received in Gujarat at 4 Lakhs  Jammu & Kashmir registered the lowest number of requests at 2,534 but that is expected, since it has one of the lowest user base  In Zone-II (South and East India), West Bengal leads with 8 Lakhs customers requesting for number porting till date, followed by Kolkata, which received 4 Lakhs requests. Deactivation of Mobile Telephone Connections of Prepaid Consumers due to non – usage 2. Deactivation of Mobile Telephone Connections of Postpaid Consumers due to non – usage 3.
