Haitian sloop 25 Miles South of Sand Spit.
Police Marine vessel intercepted a Haitian sloop 18 miles
south of Providenciales carrying a total of 98 persons (44
females & 54 males)
Details from the detention centre indicated that 12 women
were returnees and were previously recovered from a sloop
in the last few months.
The next day a male body was pulled from the water at South
Dock. Body was identified by two detainees as one of the
persons who jumped off as the sloop was approaching
Providenciales.

4 May 2007 at 0100 am
Police Marine Branch intercepted an
Illegal Haitian Sloop (30 foot)
containing over 120 illegal immigrants.
Whilst being towed by a Police vessel
it capsized with the loss of 65
passengers.
12. OpBAT
Joint operation with US, Bahamas, & Turks and Caicos
Islands
Op BAT was proposed by the United States to the
Bahamas in March 1982 by Diplomatic Note.
The purpose was to disrupt the flow of drugs
transiting south to north through Turks and Caicos
to the United States.
To provide intelligence to Bahamian law
enforcement officers.
