APPLE
Iphone x
The iPhone X is the latest release from the
tech giant Apple. With this generation of
iPhone, Apple forgot the normal design that
they go with and decided to go with a new-
er design mentality that is the edge to edge
screen. The main thing that the Apple iPhone
X does well is the edge to edge screen, they
achieved this screen by having an OLED
screen, the main advantage that this brought
to the screen technology is that Apple could
roll the OLED panel around the edge of the
screen which achieves the edge to edge
design, this also gives the phone an 82.9%
screen to body ratio. Even though they did
all this screen rolling they didn't have space
to hide the microphone, front camera, sen-
sors and front speaker. With all these piec-
es of technology they didn't have room to
put these anywhere else, so they had to
improvise and create "The Notch". A lot of
manufacturers have stepped away from this
design whereas some of the other manufac-
turers are embracing "The Notch". The iP-
hone X also has the best mobile processor in
a smartphone ever, it contains the Apple A11
Bionic chip, this chip allows better things such
as improved AR and Animoji, this takes use
of all the front sensors the allow the phone to
unlock with just your face. The processor will
also allow the phone to stay fast and effi-
cient over a long time. The phone also uses
some of the highest quality materials used on
smartphones to this day, this is because of
the stainless-steel edge border around the
edge of the phone, this gives a more premi-
um feel to the phone when in the hand, that
paired with the glass back allows the most
premium feeling in the hand.
The Galaxy Note 8 is Samsung's return to
the Note Line-Up with the newer design
style that was introduced with the S8 and
the S8+, the Note 8 keeps the important
parts from the Note family, such as the
S-Pen, the biggest screen in the Samsung
line-up and the best performance. The
Note 8 has a 6.3" screen which is the larg-
est screen to be put on a Samsung phone,
this paired with the AMOLED panel which
is 1440p means that paired together the
screen quality and size join for a very
pleasurable viewing experience when
watching any content, Samsung made
an edge to edge screen this year so that
they can have the biggest screen on a still
manageable size. The Note 8 also uses a
dual lens camera system that has become
a newer trend in the mobile phone race,
the duel lenses allows the phone to have
a lot more adaptability when taking pic-
tures. The cameras could either be a ge-
neric camera, but the secondary camera
is where a lot of manufacturers are having
a lot of competition over what secondary
camera is the best whether it be a tele-
photo lens or a wide-angle lens. Personal-
ly, it comes down to personal preference of
what you might be looking for, personally
I prefer the look of the wide-angle lens
and how adaptable it is whereas the tel-
ephoto lens isn't as useful because with
most of the main cameras on smart phones
still have excellent quality even when
zoomed.
camera BattleThe Huawei P20 Pro is the latest release from the
Chinese company Huawei, in the European and
American markets Huawei isn't as well known as the
major brands such as Apple, Samsung and Google,
but in the Asian market they are one of the biggest
market holders. In total in the global market they own
almost a third of the global market next to Apple and
Samsung. The main selling part of the P20 Pro is the
Triple Rear Cameras that are powered by AI to get
the best image possible. The 3
cameras consist of a 40MP
Camera, a 20MP black and
white camera and an 8MP
5x Telephoto lens. The
impressive triple camera
setup also means that you
can record 960fps slow-mo
at 720p. The P20 Pro comes
with 128GB of storage as the
only option available with
non-expandable storage.
The P20 Pro is powered by a
4,000 mAh battery that is big
enough to last the entire day
and the performance should
only get better throughout
the time that you use the
phone as the AI Kirin 970 chip
will learn when you need the
most performance and when
and when you don't need as
much performance so that it
can save on battery life. The
phone also comes with 6GB
of RAM which means that day
to day you shouldn't run into
any slow downs. The P20 Pro
also features a 6.1" AMOLED
screen that features an edge
to edge design which means
that to achieve that edge to
edge design the take a notch
out of the screen so that
there is enough room to fit
the front facing 24MP camera
and the front speaker grill.
Google
pixel 2 xl
Huawei
p20 pro
The Pixel 2 XL is Google's return to the smart-
phone market in 2017, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2
XL. These two phones put the smart into smart-
phone as the way that they interact with all of
the other Google products was a lot smarter
than how the products interacted with non-pur-
pose built devices. The Pixel 2 devices have
only the necessities for the phone, the phone
uses stock android software to keep the expe-
rience smooth and fast, also with the product
being from Google themselves they make sure
that the phone runs the newest and simplest
version of the software. And behind the
best camera at time of release wasn't
what other manufacturers were doing
such as adding a secondary camera,
Google stuck with a singular cam-
era and instead of using 2 cameras
they used the best software on
the market that they created
themselves and used ma-
chine learning so that the
camera can do the best
job for the bokeh effect
with only a single
camera whilst the
other phones use
2.
The Pixel 2 uses the standard Pixel design of the single
uni-body design with the glass window at the top of
the phone
where
the
camera
is, this
can give
a nice
contrast
on some of
the colours of
the phone such
as the Just Black
colour where the
main body is a matte
soft touch black but
the top glass is very
glossy so the colours even
though being the same
contrast each other. Google
also did some more interesting
colour combinations such as the
Black and White that was quickly
named Panda by the Internet and
tech YouTubers, the "Panda" colour
is a glossy white with a black glass
window at the top of the phone with a
Orange power button which stands out
against the otherwise monotone colour
scheme. The colours behind the Pixel 2 also
take a dig at the other big phone manufac-
turers such as Samsung and Apple and their
naming schemes for the colours such as Apple's
black, called Space Grey or Samsung's black called
Midnight Black. They make this dig by making their
colour scheme as simple as possible by calling it Just
Black.

APPLE
IPHONE 8
The iPhone 8 is Apple's return to the phones
that they make every year, instead of the
normal unibody design they do every year
this year they have opted towards the glass
sandwich that has become a standard de-
sign with some phones such as the Galaxy
line up since the S6 which released in 2015,
the iPhone 8 also now includes Wireless
charging which has been a standard feature
on some phones since 2014. The iPhone 8
includes the standardised 4.7" screen that
is standard on the normal size iPhone. The
iPhone 8 still contains the top of the line specs
that will be seen on the more expensive Plus
size model and the Anniversary iPhone X
such as the top of the line A11 Bionic chip
which allow the most advanced recording
such as 4K at 60fps which we haven't been
able to do on a mobile phone since the re-
lease of the A11 Bionic chip. The iPhone
8 also continues the IP67 rating that they
started with the iPhone 7, this was a trend
that seems to have caught on as people
become more and more accident prone, this
rating means that phones can survive small
splashes, they can even survive being un-
der water for up to half an hour. The iPhone
8 also continues with the removal of the
headphone jack that the 7th iPhone started,
Apple clearly have no regret about remov-
ing the headphone jack and stick by their
decision of having one port, maybe eventu-
ally we'll have no ports on our phones. The
iPhone 8 also comes with the latest version of
IOS straight from the box, this means that the
phone comes with the latest features that the
latest hardware can handle. The phone also
being the latest release also means that the
phone will get the latest releases the first.
The Samsung Galaxy S9: The Galaxy
S9 is the latest release from Samsung,
this phone uses the same design men-
tality as the 2017 release of the S8 and
the Note 8. The latest Samsung phone
also contains the top of the line specs
such as the Snapdragon 845 which is
currently the faster processor in an an-
droid phone. The phone also comes
with 4GB of RAM which means that
even though the phones size might be
small, the power behind it is big. The
phone also uses the same OLED pan-
el that the S8 uses so the quality of the
panel is still top notch and what we ex-
pect from Samsung. The phone also has
a top of the line camera which features
a variable aperture which goes from
f/1.5 to f/2.4. This is the first phone on
the market to have a variable aperture
and this allows the phone to have in-
credible low light camera capabilities,
which means that at the time of release
it was the best camera on a smart-
phone, on the market. The phone also
expands on the expandable storage
of the phone as it goes from 256GB to
400GB. This paired with all of the new
resolutions and frame rates that can
now be accessed means that the base
storage of 64GB that you should have
plenty of storage for all the videos that
you will ever need.

6The OnePlus 6 is the return from small
tech company OnePlus which makes
budget (by today's standards) devic-
es that start at £469, which for 6GB of
RAM, 64GB of on-board storage, the
brand new Snapdragon 845 processor,
an all glass body as well as an AMOLED
screen. When looking at the specifica-
tions of the phone you could have been
seriously mistaken in thinking that this
was a phone such as the S9+ or the Pix-
el 2 XL. But with those phones you'll be
paying the premium of the brands. So at
this price point the OnePlus 6 looks very
appealing to someone looking for more
of a cheaper phone or contract but with-
out the generally "crappy" phones that
come with the cheaper contracts. The
OnePlus 6 has a dual rear cameras that
come in at 20MP and 16MP which allows
the OnePlus to take some absolutely
stunning pictures. The AMOLED screen
that has been put into the OnePlus 6 is a
6.28" edge to edge screen with a 83.8%
screen to body ratio, this is due to the
notch at the top of the screen that holds
the front facing camera and the top ear
piece, at the bottom of the screen is the a
relatively small bezel at the bottom of the
phone. This edge to edge design turns
the normal aspect ratio of 16:9 and turns
it to the taller than average aspect ratio
of 19:9 which allows more room for ver-
tical scrolling and allows more content to
be shown on the display. The phone also
has a 3300mAh battery which means
that that paired with the CPU is very
battery efficient which means that the
phones battery should last all day. The
phone also comes with the latest version
of Android which at this moment is An-
droid 8.1, but the phone also has access
to the new Android P beta. On top of
the version of Android is the OxygenOS
which means that the phone will be fast
and snappy as long as being very cus-
tomizable so you can make your phone
as unique as you want. The phones also
comes in 3 colours, these colours are Mir-
ror Black, Midnight Black and Silk White.
The OnePlus 6 is also home to OnePlus'
signature fast fingerprint scanner and
more recent face unlock that is also very
fast compared to other phones that have
the ability to unlock phones with a face.
OnePlus have always prided themselves
on the speed of their phones and this
phone is not an exception to that state-
ment.

The cameras could either be a ge- neric camera, but the secondary camera is where a lot of manufacturers are having a lot of competition over what secondary camera is the best whether it be a tele- photo lens or a wide-angle lens. Personal- ly, it comes down to personal preference of what you might be looking for, personally I prefer the look of the wide-angle lens and how adaptable it is whereas the tel- ephoto lens isn't as useful because with most of the main cameras on smart phones still have excellent quality even when zoomed.
  • 3. camera BattleThe Huawei P20 Pro is the latest release from the Chinese company Huawei, in the European and American markets Huawei isn't as well known as the major brands such as Apple, Samsung and Google, but in the Asian market they are one of the biggest market holders. In total in the global market they own almost a third of the global market next to Apple and Samsung. The main selling part of the P20 Pro is the Triple Rear Cameras that are powered by AI to get the best image possible. The 3 cameras consist of a 40MP Camera, a 20MP black and white camera and an 8MP 5x Telephoto lens. The impressive triple camera setup also means that you can record 960fps slow-mo at 720p. The P20 Pro comes with 128GB of storage as the only option available with non-expandable storage. The P20 Pro is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery that is big enough to last the entire day and the performance should only get better throughout the time that you use the phone as the AI Kirin 970 chip will learn when you need the most performance and when and when you don't need as much performance so that it can save on battery life. The phone also comes with 6GB of RAM which means that day to day you shouldn't run into any slow downs. The P20 Pro also features a 6.1" AMOLED screen that features an edge to edge design which means that to achieve that edge to edge design the take a notch out of the screen so that there is enough room to fit the front facing 24MP camera and the front speaker grill. Google pixel 2 xl Huawei p20 pro The Pixel 2 XL is Google's return to the smart- phone market in 2017, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. These two phones put the smart into smart- phone as the way that they interact with all of the other Google products was a lot smarter than how the products interacted with non-pur- pose built devices. The Pixel 2 devices have only the necessities for the phone, the phone uses stock android software to keep the expe- rience smooth and fast, also with the product being from Google themselves they make sure that the phone runs the newest and simplest version of the software. And behind the best camera at time of release wasn't what other manufacturers were doing such as adding a secondary camera, Google stuck with a singular cam- era and instead of using 2 cameras they used the best software on the market that they created themselves and used ma- chine learning so that the camera can do the best job for the bokeh effect with only a single camera whilst the other phones use 2. The Pixel 2 uses the standard Pixel design of the single uni-body design with the glass window at the top of the phone where the camera is, this can give a nice contrast on some of the colours of the phone such as the Just Black colour where the main body is a matte soft touch black but the top glass is very glossy so the colours even though being the same contrast each other. Google also did some more interesting colour combinations such as the Black and White that was quickly named Panda by the Internet and tech YouTubers, the "Panda" colour is a glossy white with a black glass window at the top of the phone with a Orange power button which stands out against the otherwise monotone colour scheme. The colours behind the Pixel 2 also take a dig at the other big phone manufac- turers such as Samsung and Apple and their naming schemes for the colours such as Apple's black, called Space Grey or Samsung's black called Midnight Black. They make this dig by making their colour scheme as simple as possible by calling it Just Black.
  • 4. small but mighty samsung galaxy s9 APPLE IPHONE 8 The iPhone 8 is Apple's return to the phones that they make every year, instead of the normal unibody design they do every year this year they have opted towards the glass sandwich that has become a standard de- sign with some phones such as the Galaxy line up since the S6 which released in 2015, the iPhone 8 also now includes Wireless charging which has been a standard feature on some phones since 2014. The iPhone 8 includes the standardised 4.7" screen that is standard on the normal size iPhone. The iPhone 8 still contains the top of the line specs that will be seen on the more expensive Plus size model and the Anniversary iPhone X such as the top of the line A11 Bionic chip which allow the most advanced recording such as 4K at 60fps which we haven't been able to do on a mobile phone since the re- lease of the A11 Bionic chip. The iPhone 8 also continues the IP67 rating that they started with the iPhone 7, this was a trend that seems to have caught on as people become more and more accident prone, this rating means that phones can survive small splashes, they can even survive being un- der water for up to half an hour. The iPhone 8 also continues with the removal of the headphone jack that the 7th iPhone started, Apple clearly have no regret about remov- ing the headphone jack and stick by their decision of having one port, maybe eventu- ally we'll have no ports on our phones. The iPhone 8 also comes with the latest version of IOS straight from the box, this means that the phone comes with the latest features that the latest hardware can handle. The phone also being the latest release also means that the phone will get the latest releases the first. The Samsung Galaxy S9: The Galaxy S9 is the latest release from Samsung, this phone uses the same design men- tality as the 2017 release of the S8 and the Note 8. The latest Samsung phone also contains the top of the line specs such as the Snapdragon 845 which is currently the faster processor in an an- droid phone. The phone also comes with 4GB of RAM which means that even though the phones size might be small, the power behind it is big. The phone also uses the same OLED pan- el that the S8 uses so the quality of the panel is still top notch and what we ex- pect from Samsung. The phone also has a top of the line camera which features a variable aperture which goes from f/1.5 to f/2.4. This is the first phone on the market to have a variable aperture and this allows the phone to have in- credible low light camera capabilities, which means that at the time of release it was the best camera on a smart- phone, on the market. The phone also expands on the expandable storage of the phone as it goes from 256GB to 400GB. This paired with all of the new resolutions and frame rates that can now be accessed means that the base storage of 64GB that you should have plenty of storage for all the videos that you will ever need.
  • 5. Honorable mention oneplus 6The OnePlus 6 is the return from small tech company OnePlus which makes budget (by today's standards) devic- es that start at £469, which for 6GB of RAM, 64GB of on-board storage, the brand new Snapdragon 845 processor, an all glass body as well as an AMOLED screen. When looking at the specifica- tions of the phone you could have been seriously mistaken in thinking that this was a phone such as the S9+ or the Pix- el 2 XL. But with those phones you'll be paying the premium of the brands. So at this price point the OnePlus 6 looks very appealing to someone looking for more of a cheaper phone or contract but with- out the generally "crappy" phones that come with the cheaper contracts. The OnePlus 6 has a dual rear cameras that come in at 20MP and 16MP which allows the OnePlus to take some absolutely stunning pictures. The AMOLED screen that has been put into the OnePlus 6 is a 6.28" edge to edge screen with a 83.8% screen to body ratio, this is due to the notch at the top of the screen that holds the front facing camera and the top ear piece, at the bottom of the screen is the a relatively small bezel at the bottom of the phone. This edge to edge design turns the normal aspect ratio of 16:9 and turns it to the taller than average aspect ratio of 19:9 which allows more room for ver- tical scrolling and allows more content to be shown on the display. The phone also has a 3300mAh battery which means that that paired with the CPU is very battery efficient which means that the phones battery should last all day. The phone also comes with the latest version of Android which at this moment is An- droid 8.1, but the phone also has access to the new Android P beta. On top of the version of Android is the OxygenOS which means that the phone will be fast and snappy as long as being very cus- tomizable so you can make your phone as unique as you want. The phones also comes in 3 colours, these colours are Mir- ror Black, Midnight Black and Silk White. The OnePlus 6 is also home to OnePlus' signature fast fingerprint scanner and more recent face unlock that is also very fast compared to other phones that have the ability to unlock phones with a face. OnePlus have always prided themselves on the speed of their phones and this phone is not an exception to that state- ment.
