STEP 1: FEEL
“Dare to reach out your hand into darkness to pull another hand into
the light”                                             Norman B. Rice
                                  And
             We dared to reach out, but there were doubts.
                 How ?                             What ?



                                         Where ?
                 Whom ?


                               At different
                               Schools,
                               Societies,
                               On Roads
For this we first explored and discussed with our school

students, teachers and members of the non teaching staff.
Whenever a man turns he can find someone who needs him.

With a thought of bringing a
change we discussed with
Mentor teacher – Rajeev
Dashputre and came to the
conclusion of reviving the
moral values, love & respect
for elders and teachers
etc……
STEP 2: IMAGINE
     Limitations live in our minds. Our possibilities become
               limitless if we use our Imagination

Students discussed many ideas with the mentor teacher of
   How to showcase these ideas & to put to the people.
And based on brain storming session, we decided to showcase our
ideas Sensitizing children, people about diminishing moral values
ie. Respect for elders, teachers…, Relation of guru & shishya,
Our culture Corruption, Child marriage, Dowry system, Condition
of farmers, knowledge of vedas through Nukkad Natikas / Street
Plays.
STEP 3: DO
 We discussed with the mentor teacher and scripted the street
plays / Nukkad natak, our mentor teacher helped us to frame
proper dialogues.
 We scripted 4 plays and allotted parts to each team member
comprising of 16 teams.
Once the script was ready, we learnt the dialogues




.
‘Charity begins at home’, we gathered all the teachers and students Std.
VI onwards of our school and performed the plays.
We assembled the members of our non teaching staff – caretakers
& peons and performed the plays




(The plays also depict the way modern children speak of their parents.
We could hear the whispers of our support staff, ‘My son also does the
same…’ )
Our group of students then went to a nearby society met the
Pramukh of the society and took his permission to perform in
his society and he readily agreed. We performed the plays in
the society. We were happy to see a large crowd of women, few
men, grandparents and few college students as audience.
Our group also performed in a nearby school




                                          We were appreciated by
                                          the Principal, Teachers
                                          and Students of that
                                          school too.
STEP 4: SHARE
We were happy we performed and shared our ideas / plays with:
 Students and teachers of our school.
 Members of non teaching staff (caretakers & peons).
 People of the nearby society
 Students of other school
                               We affected this change to around
                                750 students and 30 teachers of our
                               school.
                               70 caretakers and peons
                               Around 35 people of society.
                               200 students of other school.


                              We ourselves revived our forgotten
                              values, knowledge of vedas, issue of
                              corruption etc…
How we were changed
                                   We have started thinking about the
                                   problems of the society with a
                                   different perspective, we felt the
                                   problem can be solved, if we take
                                   small initiatives at our own level.
                                   We thought :
                                        If not now, then When ?
                                        If not we, then Who ?


We felt, ‘I CAN’, if we can do such wonder, just imagine what can we
all do together ?
•   From the Principal
    I was deeply touched by the topics selected by our students with help of their

    mentor teacher. They worked very hard on the script, made dialogues (Which

    somewhere they also feel they themselves need to develop). The nukkad nataks

    depicted the values, a shishya had for his guru, children had for their parents ie. touching their
    feet, saying namaskar, knowledge of vedas, clothes to be worn by youngsters etc. etc. The plays
    reminded us of our forgotten values. (A script of one of the Nukkad Natak has been attached)

    I am very proud that my students took up this responsibility of doing a good work for the society and
    have reached the children and grown ups of all ages.

    I thank the Team of Design for Change Contest which has made my students believe that CHANGE IS
    POSSIBLE AND THAT THEY CAN BE THE CHANGE.

  • 4. STEP 1: FEEL “Dare to reach out your hand into darkness to pull another hand into the light” Norman B. Rice And We dared to reach out, but there were doubts. How ? What ? Where ? Whom ? At different Schools, Societies, On Roads
  • 5. For this we first explored and discussed with our school students, teachers and members of the non teaching staff.
  • 6. Whenever a man turns he can find someone who needs him. -Albert Schweitzer With a thought of bringing a change we discussed with Mentor teacher – Rajeev Dashputre and came to the conclusion of reviving the moral values, love & respect for elders and teachers etc……
  • 7. STEP 2: IMAGINE Limitations live in our minds. Our possibilities become limitless if we use our Imagination Students discussed many ideas with the mentor teacher of How to showcase these ideas & to put to the people.
  • 8. And based on brain storming session, we decided to showcase our ideas Sensitizing children, people about diminishing moral values ie. Respect for elders, teachers…, Relation of guru & shishya, Our culture Corruption, Child marriage, Dowry system, Condition of farmers, knowledge of vedas through Nukkad Natikas / Street Plays.
  • 9. STEP 3: DO  We discussed with the mentor teacher and scripted the street plays / Nukkad natak, our mentor teacher helped us to frame proper dialogues. We scripted 4 plays and allotted parts to each team member comprising of 16 teams.
  • 10. Once the script was ready, we learnt the dialogues . ‘Charity begins at home’, we gathered all the teachers and students Std. VI onwards of our school and performed the plays.
  • 11. We assembled the members of our non teaching staff – caretakers & peons and performed the plays (The plays also depict the way modern children speak of their parents. We could hear the whispers of our support staff, ‘My son also does the same…’ )
  • 12. Our group of students then went to a nearby society met the Pramukh of the society and took his permission to perform in his society and he readily agreed. We performed the plays in the society. We were happy to see a large crowd of women, few men, grandparents and few college students as audience.
  • 13. Our group also performed in a nearby school We were appreciated by the Principal, Teachers and Students of that school too.
  • 14. STEP 4: SHARE We were happy we performed and shared our ideas / plays with:  Students and teachers of our school.  Members of non teaching staff (caretakers & peons).  People of the nearby society  Students of other school We affected this change to around  750 students and 30 teachers of our school.  70 caretakers and peons  Around 35 people of society.  200 students of other school. We ourselves revived our forgotten values, knowledge of vedas, issue of corruption etc…
  • 15. How we were changed We have started thinking about the problems of the society with a different perspective, we felt the problem can be solved, if we take small initiatives at our own level. We thought : If not now, then When ? If not we, then Who ? We felt, ‘I CAN’, if we can do such wonder, just imagine what can we all do together ?
  • 16. From the Principal I was deeply touched by the topics selected by our students with help of their mentor teacher. They worked very hard on the script, made dialogues (Which somewhere they also feel they themselves need to develop). The nukkad nataks depicted the values, a shishya had for his guru, children had for their parents ie. touching their feet, saying namaskar, knowledge of vedas, clothes to be worn by youngsters etc. etc. The plays reminded us of our forgotten values. (A script of one of the Nukkad Natak has been attached) I am very proud that my students took up this responsibility of doing a good work for the society and have reached the children and grown ups of all ages. I thank the Team of Design for Change Contest which has made my students believe that CHANGE IS POSSIBLE AND THAT THEY CAN BE THE CHANGE.
