PROFILE
Looking for freelance work from 28.3.16, I am set up Ltd company and have my
own van for transport.
I am currently working for McLaughlin and Harvey at Ayrshires New Kilmarnock
Campus as Project Engineer. My previous employer was Graham Construction
working on the Stirling University Residences framework. I have also worked on
the high profile Velodrome and National Sports Arena for the Commonwealth
Games 2014.
I have gained significant experience and qualifications during the last 12 years
on a varying range of projects. I came into construction as a draughtsman but
soon sought out site experience and have not looked back since.
At work I would say one of my greatest attributes is being able to handle
pressure and utilize my experience to make decisions in calm and collected
manner.
I am driven to ensure that any project I am on finishes on program and with
quality assurance of upmost importance.
EMPLOYMENT
Summary of capabilities
Ensuring that Health and Safety is number one priority and all RAMS and
permits are relevant and in place.
Managing sub-contractors work and making sure the quality assurance
files are kept meticulously.
Programming works to ensure the completion date of the project is not
compromised.
As a temporary works coordinator I am well versed in maintaining the
register and supervising temporary works on site. I am comfortable with
heavy duty propping of steelwork, back propping and complex design
scaffolds.
Management of direct hire crane lifts as an appointed person.
Experience in the construction of retaining walls, concrete
formwork/tables, steelwork foundations, in-situ and pre-cast stairs/walls,
drainage, setting out of slip forms/jump forms for concrete cores.
Excellent understanding of construction drawings.
2. Able to liaise with engineers/architects on design and builds to find the
best solution to any problems encountered within the design and optimize
constructability.
Setting out, leveling and surveying of all civil engineering aspects of the
project to a high accuracy as taught on setting out courses and by keeping
myself up to date with technological advances.
Producing topographical surveys and quantifying cut and fills.
Able to operate various models of total stations including 1 man robotic
stations.
Proficient in the use of auto cad for as built drawings etc.
I am very comfortable with setting up and maintaining site control stations
by means of traversing and coordinate corrections.
Particularly interested in geotechnical design and application, this was my
favorite subject at university.

Working for McLaughlin and Harvey at the new Ayrshire College Kilmarnock Campus
(£40 mil) as Project Engineer.
I am responsible for managing sub-contractors on site to ensure program dates are
achieved.
Chairing meetings with the design team and sub-contractors to discuss
constructability concerns and resolve outstanding issues.
Checking setting out and making sure QA forms are completed.
Coordinating all temporary works and crane lifts on site.

Employed by Graham Construction working on the Stirling University residences
framework.
My role as Site Engineer has many duties which differ through the progress of the
job, mainly ensuring that work is carried out correctly and supervising sub-contractors
with safety being the upmost priority.

building 2 new whiskey warehouses near Aberlour.

Working for Decomo at the Velodrome setting out for the installation of precast
cladding panels around the envelope of the project. Supervising the progress of site
works and marking up drawings.

Setting out engineer at the Velodrome and National sports arena in Glasgow for PC
Harrington. Concrete framed main structure with major structural steel at either side,
setting out of curved ret walls at the velodrome track.

structure. I was responsible for surveying of existing structure and all setting out.
