Notes de l'éditeur
strong passwords = combination of:
letters
numbers
special characters
What do passwords and toothbrushes have in common?
You NEVER want to share them
Except with parents
...even if hitting delete after posting
someone could retweet, favorited, or taken a screenshot
Info you post is like toothpaste coming out of the tube
it’s almost impossible to get it all back in the tube!
What you post now, could have an impact on you in the future. What ‘seeds’ are you sowing?
could it grow into bigger problem
or is plant going to be a strong, positive representation of who you are
Imagine a mirror attached to your computer/device
If you looked in it a saw someone in the reflection, would they approve of what you are doing or saying online? (someone over your shoulder)
Have student wad it up into a ball
throw it on the ground
stomp on it
have student pick it back up
Teacher unravels it in front of the class
tell student to apologize to the piece of paper for destroying it
piece of paper respresents someone’s heart that has been cyberbullied
We all want to apologize, but the emotional scars that remain inside DON’T go away...like the creases on the paper.
THINK, is it: true, helpful, inspiring, necessary, kind?
Past - used to be face-to-face and/or handshake
Present & Future - Google. What shows up when you search yourself?
Put good things out there. If you don’t tell your story, someone else will.
what is real
what’s not real
become a good Internet searcher
Tattoos are a lot harder to get rid of.
Imagine all the things you do online
Now imagine if your posts were in a notebook/journal
would you be comfortable if anyone read this notebook/journal? Parents? Grandparents?
THINK = is it:
true
helpful
inspiring
necessary
kind
When we were young, our mistakes were NOT Googleable.
The mistakes you make will be Googleable.
If a Band Aid won’t help, then you have a problem.
