2. The Design Process
A reminder
(on what the DAG team already been doing):
The Activities:
Week 1: did the DT-HCD Intro phase and produce 2
prototypes.
Week 2: Discover Phase 1 decide to take our own
DESIGN Challenge & produce the HMW Question:
How might we encourage good garbage dumping
habits among undeserved children in Kampong
Pondok Pucung, Tangerang, INDONESIA?
Week 3: Discover Phase 2 did our research by
initiating an event ‘COLOR YOUR KITE’ day
Week 4: Ideation Phase – Surprise! After gruelling
session we developed our new HMW Question:
How might we generate the community (of
Kampong Pondok Pucung, Tangerang, INDONESIA)
to keep their kampong uncluttered/orderly in order
to lift up their pride?
3. Hello, we are, the
DAG Team doing
the 4th Part of HCD
Workshop:
Prototype! – We’re
very excited!!!
4. THE SURPRISE from
IDEATION phase!
Our Gems is not about
THE GARBAGE!
IT IS ABOUT VALUES!
The THEMES:
1. VALUE
(values seemed to be
the biggest problem
faced by the
community)
2. HOPE
(derived from the
physical change that
the community
expecting)
3. HYGIENE
(hygiene problems
comes from the
littering and the ways
in which the children
play)
THE ‘OLD’ OUR ‘HMW’ QUESTION
How might we encourage good garbage
dumping habits among undeserved
children in Kampong Pondok Pucung,
Tangerang, INDONESIA?
the‘NEW’ OUR ‘HMW’ QUESTION
HOW MIGHT WE GENERATE THE
COMMUNITY (of Kampong
Pondok Pucung, Tangerang,
INDONESIA) TO KEEP
THEIR KAMPONG
UNCLUTTERED/ORDERLY IN
ORDER TO LIFT UP THEIR PRIDE?
5. Fix Ur Neighborhood
Board Games
Martin suggests
implementing values first
through creating ‘fix ur
neighborhood’ board games,
make a competition over it
and the big prize is scale 1:1
fix ur neighborhood!
Plants & Garden
Everywhere
Rakyan suggests that
we started planting
and gardening in
every abandoned
corner of
the kampong!
Urban Kampong Farming
Phebe suggests the urban kampong farming. Hers not
just about gardening but planting for harvesting!
OUR NEW ‘HMW’ QUESTION
How might we generate the

6. The Most Successful
Urban Kampong Farming
The Most Innovative
‘Fix Ur Neighborhood’
Board GamesConclusion –
The Combination
Surprisingly we saw
similarities throughout our
ideas: Rakyan’s, and Dona’s
obviously share the same
spirit with Phebe’s, while
Ruth’s is the results if our
ideas succeeds. Martin’s
although seemed differ from
the rests, actually reminds
the group about the children
necessities , and games is
always welcome! So we
embed other’s ideas into
Phebe’s and agreed focusing
on Phebe’s idea!

could be done, but we
must do this creatively

Design for Kampong
Pondok Pucung
Community
The Idea impact on our
HMW/Challenge?
VALUE, HOPE, HYGIENE – The activities will
change the face of the kampong to become
orderly and beautiful. This we believe will
change the community’s value and pride.
OUR NEW ‘HMW’ QUESTION
How might we generate the
Community (of Kampong Pondok
Pucung, Tangerang, INDONESIA) to
keep their kampong
uncluttered/orderly in order
to lift up their pride?
Urban Kampong Farming
Our idea is to make use every possible space in
the kampong, especially abandoned yet
attached area to the community dwellings
with plantation and simple farming. It’s not
just gardening, it is planting for harvesting
9. The Children,
The Children only concern is fun! So they will be
involved in the campaign and painting the location,
have fun digging, watering and picking! (planting,
nursery and harvesting)
The Mother/ Women
Resident/Reps. Comm. Leader
We chose (1) Ibu RT and we create her experience
map: She will be needing explanation about our
ideas - (2) Create attractive
campaign/explanation; She will need to see proof
that the idea can work - (3) Showing her
harvesting proof ; She will ask where and how to
do the idea. Is it time consuming? Is it costly? Is it
useful? – (4) Finding Location and showing that
the location could be everywhere, easy and
doesn’t need a big space; (5) Explaining the ‘How
to’ (planting, nursery, harvesting) – should be
easy, cheap and fun; (6) Showing the use:
Consume by self or Sell!; (7) The Prize: The Pride

11. REFLECTION:
• As usual the methods
showed that we could
gain 5 fertile ideas
through Brainstorming!
• But that is not the best
part. What we think the
best part is when we
work together,
collaboratively, giving
insights, supports
others ideas, surprised
and get excited by what
we can build together,
believe in the IDEA!
