(3)Teacher workload
Triggers
(1)Student feedback
(2)Parent feedback
(3)Teacher and
admin feedback
5. SO…
Lets make sure that what we are doing is
high quality rather than high quantity.
We don’t need to make students or teachers
busier than what they are.
9. • Our assessment is meant to communicate
meaningful information to students,
teachers and parents while they learn and
at the end of their learning cycle.
15. Coherent Communication
on Managebac…
• Shared classes ==> Shared tasks (on Managebac)
• Simplify the calendar by following a shared process
– Light blue = Formative
– Orange = Summative
– Don’t use ‘events’, ‘deadlines’ for classwork.
– Use ‘tasks’ for items that require a dropbox, and
‘messages’ if you’re just giving homework
16. Minimise Quantity
Maximise Quality
• Minimise Summative Assessment: working
towards a maximum of two summative
task items per subject in each quarter.
• Regular formative assessment: Feedback
should be being communicated on MB (for
students and parents).
• Green flag principle – train students to
take any task on MB seriously.
17. Forward planning…
• Right now… get into subject groups
• Ensure that classes that you share are shared on
Managebac
• Create a draft task for your first summative assessment
task for next term (Don’t click notify students).
• Check to see how it appears on the calendar. It should
come up as orange for everyone in the group.
• Try and get the group set up for each of your courses
• We will ask you to develop a clear plan for assessment
tasks after reports are done
18. Take away points
• Minimise quantity, maximise Quality
• Coherent Communication
