are secreted from Prostate gland is called
prostaglandins.
Also c/d Eicosanoids.
Formed fromArachidonic acid.
U.V.Euler got nobel prize for PG’s.
7. Action,pathophysiological roles of
PG’s -
*Blood vessel – .PGE₂ -Vasodilation
.PGI₂ - vasodilatn , hypotentn
.PGF₂α- contraction
*‘PAD{Patent Arteriosus Ductus} - During faetal life PGE₂
keep Arteriosus ductus Patent(open).
*At birth PGE2 synthesis inhibit, then Ductus close.
*If ductus not closed after birth then called ‘Foramen Ovale
Disease’
*DRUG - .Indomethacin
.Aspirin Given after delivery if ductus not close
8. Blood platelets -
TXA2 PGI2
Produced by platelets Produced by Endothelium
Cause agregation of
platelets
Do not agregate platelets
(potent inhibitor of platelet
agregation)
9. Uterus- .PGF2α
.PGE2 Contraction
Pragnant & nonprgnt
PGF2α is potent PG for abortion
these are used for terminate Pragnancy
*At term– PGF2α is found in maternal blood.
*Dismanhurrheia is due to PGE2.
.Aspirin- Prevention
.Methanemic acid -DOC
*PGF2α causes cervical ripening.
12. # F2 Analogue used in
Glaucoma treatment.
.Latanoprost
.Travoprost
.Bimatoprost
Gemiprost , Carboprost
causes relaxation &
contraction . So used in
Abortion.
Carboprost used in Post
Partam Haemorrhage.
