6. WHAT ARE SPEAKING
SKILLS?
They are techniques that enable a speaker to convey a
message effectively. Speaking skills don't just involve
the use of the right words. Your body language also
has a major role in conveying a message.
• Speaking skills are the skills that give us the ability to
communicate effectively.
• These skills allow the speaker, to convey his message in
a passionate, thoughtful, and convincing manner.
• Speaking skills also help to assure that one won't be
misunderstood by those who are listening.

• Speakers that are gifted in captivating the
attention of a group are always prepared and
have rehearsed in advance.
Be practice, don’t memorize
• Memorization can setup a barrier between
you and your audience so practice with the
full expectation that something unanticipated
will happen.

• A good speaker should know exactly who will
be sitting in the crowd and will tailor their
message to that audience.

• Exude a level of sincerity in emotions when
communicating with audience if a person
want them to be moved by audience.
Interact with your audience
• Look for opportunities to involve your
audience in what you are speaking about.
Also, make sure to establish eye contact with
your audience, and keep it throughout your
speech.
12. Close your speech in a memorable way
• End a speech with a summary. Close with a
story & inspiration. Make it clear to them
that you're done.
Fluency
• A person can achieve fluency in speaking by
reading books, practice and at last by people
interaction. Through fluency a person can
interact a crowd of people and can make them
to think about the motive of his/her speaking.
