2. Six billion – Nothing but thieves
For the idea that I think is personally strongest, I
have chosen Six billion by Nothing but Thieves. I
have chosen this because as you will see in the
brain storm, the lyrics make way for a largely
negotiated interpretation, which is something I think
I have done well with, with my idea.
Because the song is unaccompanied with a music
video, it also helped with not being able to have
preconceived ideas of what the video should look
like. This has caused me to want to amplify the
lyrics, which is what I will be explaining.

3. The video will follow the day of male a
character, that while doing so, the props
and positioning of the camera will
indicate to the audience that he has lost
or is missing someone.
This will be shown with props such as
two tooth brushes, a photo of someone
behind a clock like the example, and a
box with a woman's name on it.
The colors will be cold toned or
dark, so it makes it seem like the
characters life is empty, when later
you realise that its because he is a
psychopath.
After the main character has
gotten dressed in a series of short
but slow mo shots focusing on the
buttons or laces of boots, we will
follow him as he walks down the
street to get a paper, which will
fade in and out so it shows him
coming back the way he came
back to his house, only to pass a
woman who drops something as
she walks by.
When he gets closer we will see it’s
a comb, and that he puts it in his
pocket and carry's on walking. This is
when we will see the shots of the
items that the audience thought
where a dead wife's, only to be this
girl who he has stalked and taken her
things as well as photos. This is
where we see him get the box from
under his bed and put the comb in,
while taking out a picture of her and
ending with a close up of his finger on
her face.
the editing will be to the pace
of the music for most part as
it’s a slower song, but when the
song gets louder toward the
end the editing pace will speed
up as we will see this as a
tipping point in the video, of
that something has changed.
For the setting I would make it
revolve around a bedroom, with the
cinematography to have a lot of dead
space and close ups, to show the
implied 'loss' in the video and the
close ups to show the characters
emotions.
This video is an

in-between.

4. No Answers – amber run
for my next idea I have chosen a song called No
Answers by Amber run. I have picked this song as
the lyrics can be interpreted easily with some room
to make the meaning twist as the song moves
towards its end. This is what I have tried to
achieve in my video idea as the lyrics and the
video start off as a simple story, to then lead into
more context and backstory for what is actually
happening or happened in the music video. I think
this links well to the pace of the song too which I
thin will make the video and the song compliment
each other nicely

5. The scene will start with a male
character alone drinking in a dark
room when there is a knock at the
door, which is when the music will
start. There will be close ups of his
face as he see the words divorce on
the paper and gets up and leaves
shot to call his ex.
When he phones her the scene will
either flip between them or be a split
screen. This is where we will see
them talk on the phone, and lip synch
some of the words in the song like 'no
answers' and 'I always will', to show
that the woman has nothing to say
where as the man is still in love.
It will then show the male character to
be angary as he slams the phone down
and pour's himself a drink. When he
closes his eyes (slow-mo) it will show
clips of the two of them together, mainly
fighting, that’s why there is a broken cup
shattering, to then end with him with his
head in his hands sitting at a table,
where there should be space at the end
so it looks like its for her.
The colors will be cold or have
negative connotations in the
present scenes and the past
scenes will be warm but still dark
to symbolize that there
relationship, even when bright
and happy, was toxic.
There will be lots of close ups to
show the small details in emotions for
each character.
The editing pace will be
matched to the music as
like the six billion song,
and it will start relatively
slow and then builds up,
which is where the fight
scenes will take place.
the main themes will be how the male
character is still in love with his to be
ex, even though he knows he is in a
toxic relationship.

6. Silk wolf Alice
For my final idea I have chosen Silk by Wolf Alice. For
my idea I think I have taken more of an
amplifying route for the video than others such
as contradicting, as I think the video and the lyrics will
align well with each other. This is because after
looking into the song, the main story that the lyrics
where telling was that the song was about a girl who
was struggling with mental health issues after or while
in a relationship, while my idea for the music video
subverts this story to be about a girl who is in love with
a friend only to find out that her friend is engaged,
while also dealing with the theme of depression, to
match the lyrics.

7. This video will start with a female character
getting ready for the day. It will be implied that
she is depressed or sad/tired with shots focusing
on her eyes and a pill bottle. We will see her get
ready like in the first video idea for six billion.
There will be slow-mo shots in mainly
the first part and the last part of the
video, as this will show the
juxtaposition between the characters
daily life and how her life can carry on
normally with the other person. There
will be slow mo shots after she finds
out her 'friend' is engaged with canted
angles to show her world has
changed. There will be faster shots
towards the ending mixed in when the
music gets louder to show her anger.
The video will be non-
linier as the first shot of
the video will also be
the last shot, as a way
for the music to start
and build up, and also
so it keeps the viewers
interest of how the
character got to where
she is.
After we see her get dressed we will
follow her as she walks down a road,
to get a text to meet up with her
friend, for the video to become
normal pace with close ups to show
how happy she is to see her friend.
When she gets there, there will be
canted angles and slower shots, as
she sees there are two people there
and not just her friend. When she get
closer and shakes the persons hand,
there will be a shot that shows them
shaking hands to twist so we can see
a engagement ring.
the props will be blue bottles and
have a black, white and blue color
theme, to match the lyrics 'and when
she sleeps she hears the blues'
