Focus Group Feedback
As well as a group, I conducted my own market research in gaining feedback about
my music video. I created a private group on Facebook, asking the opinions of 4
people of the target audience. They replied and I was able to gain constructive
feedback from both private groups and some of which, was implemented into my
music video. I asked five questions regarding the music video, considering strengths,
weaknesses, the narrative and about the genre. Here are the questions I asked:
1) What are the strong points of the video as a whole?
2) What are the weak points of the video as a whole?
3) Is the narrative effective yet easy to follow, understand and interpret?
4) Would the video be an improvement if elements of performance were added?
5) Is the black and white effect used accordingly and does it represent the genre of
indie/alternative?
Below, are print screens collected from my individual market research that answered
the questions. The names and pictures of the participants of my individual market
research have been covered for confidentiality purposes and reasons.

2. Strong points:
 Transitioning
 Enhancing the slow and upbeat tempo of the song
 Iconography and scenery shots
 Black and white
 Effortless demeanour
 Shot variety
Weak points:
 Continuity of black and white makes it difficult to distinguish between the
happier moments and the more emotional shots
 Scattering of shots to show the fragmented narrative
 Smoother establishing shots
Effectiveness of the narrative:
 Easy to follow
Performance elements:
 Performance elements wouldn’t improve the video
Effectiveness of black and white:
 Conveys the genre successfully
 Slight confusion between the happy and sad shots.
