[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Prof. Alex Zrttl  and his team   have constructed a fully functional, fully integrated radio receiver, orders-of-magnitude smaller than any previous radio, from a single carbon nanotube.  The single nanotube serves, at once, as all major components of a radio: antenna, tuner, amplifier, and demodulator.

The science of XX-th century bring up the importance of the Man in the metabolism of the socio-economical system (GAIA vision) - The science of Complex Systems   that define a nonlinear approach on Reality ( fractals, chaos theory, dissipative systems, constructal theory etc.) -  Computational science  ( or scientific computing ) that create extraordinary tools for the modeling and simulations of the dynamic and evolutions of real objects  -  Quantum physics, Cognitive Science  focus on the importance of the  Observer  and his  intentionality   on the evolution of the Reality -  The science of Mind  – a new approach on the study of the Consciousness and Free Will The big breakthrough of XX-th century
Latin word  complexus , signifies "entwined", "twisted together".  This may be interpreted in the following way: in order to have a complex you need two or more components, which are joined in such a way that it is difficult to separate them. Similarly, the Oxford Dictionary defines something as  "complex" if it is "made of (usually several) closely connected parts".  Escher To start with a definition:  Complexity science

Profile: The Center for Complex Studies ( CCS ) is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-political organization. It was founded   in  1996  as a result of a private, thus being one of the first fully private research institute in Romania. Mission: The main objectives of CCS are to promote the new paradigm of  Complexity  and to fill in the gap between theory and applications in this field.  ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]

The NEXUS program brings as novelty an ensemble formed by:  NEXUS room  - space dedicated and equipped especially for: documentation, courses, multidisciplinary dialogue and consulting, lab experiments (the activity in the room would be organized on groups structured around various subjects chosen from the Open Projects database supplied by CSC especially for the NEXUS-T program)
The complex teaching object  (OBC) – hard/soft ensemble that allows experimental, multidisciplinary exploration of the processes and phenomena of interest, according to the topics selected from an  Open Project . (OBC was projected in a way that enables creativity stimulation and formation of new abilities : attention, ability to correlate the knowledge gained during the course,
Training programs for teachers  – intensive courses (including e-learning) for assimilating concepts and notions necessary for the use of the infrastructure and the software that accompanies an ODC, for completing the curriculum with novelties, especially from the Complexity science, and for correlating the various primary knowledge through an integrating, multidisciplinary approach.

Vreancea zone- a geophysical natural laboratory Short-term prediction  (hours to weeks) was successful in very few cases where precursory phenomena were evident Intermediate-term prediction  (one month to 10 years) is considered fair for well monitored regions. Long-term prediction  (10-30 years) is considered good for high slip rate faults but poor for very low slip rate tectonic provinces. Prediction = Position+ Intensity + Time

  1. Unul din dezideratele majore ale etapei actuale de dezvoltare a societatii umane aflata in plin proces de globalizare este dezvoltarea sustenabila, (durabila) Este un obiectiv major, aflat pe toate agendele oamenilor politici, discutat in intalniri de lucru la cel mai inalt nivel si din ce in ce mai mediatizat.
  2. In timp ce se discuta asupra politicilor de dezvoltare durabila, viata merge inainte, din pacate, in baza acelorasi pricipii, obiceiuri, mentalitati. Generalizarea mecanismelor economice specifice unei piete libere induce probleme noi, situatii de conflict, tensiuni interculturale. Vorbim mult despre nevoia unei schimbari dar continuam sa ne manifestam in vechea paradigma. Intre timp, problematica se complexifica continuu, fapt resimtit concret, de fiecare.
  3. Simtim din ce in ce mai pregnant ca totul se accelereaza in jur. Sub presiunea generata de explozia de noi tehnologii, noi materiale, noi produse, piata devine din ce in ce mai instabila. Automatizarea pe scara larga, la care se adauga continul proces de miniaturizare si dematerializare a produselor, creaza probleme din ce in ce mai complexe in piata de resurse umane. La aceasta se adauga delocalizarea activitatilor productive ( intreprinderi virtuale, tele-lucru) interferete si schimburi culturale).
  4. Procesele se accelereaza exponential. Se remarca “densificarea” proprietatilor ce caracterizeaza lumea moderna, fapt validat de asa numitele legi de dezvoltare exponentiala (de tip Moore). Modernizrea conduce la o scadere continua a necesitatilor de Materie, Energie, Spatiu si Timp pentru obtinerea unei anumite functii. Se constata ca, la anumite niveluri de concetrare, au loc “salturi” conceptuale ce schimba dramatic insasi structura si modul de functionare a produsului. Se trece de la societate la alta. Evoluam.
  5. Sa luam ca exemplu: miniaturizarea continua a unui aparat de radio. Pornind de la o constructie bazata pe tuburi electronice, mare si extrem de energofaga, (CLIK) aparatul se “compacteaza” la inceput mecanic. (CLIK )Isi micsoreaza dimensiunile substantial odata cu aparitia semiconductoarelor. In ambele cazuri insa, realizarea practica cerea un numar mare de muncitori electronisti, calificati, atat pentru realizarea lor cat si pentru depanare. Altfel spus se putea traii de pe urma acestei meserii. Aparitia tehnologiilor de integrare pe scara larga au avut, pe langa saltul de proprietati si un impact social semnificativ. Aparatul, avand acum dimensiuni de ordinul unui cm patrat, nu mai putea fi realizat manual si nici depanat. Realizarea s-a transferat catre sisteme automate, eliberand o masa mare de lucratori din domeniul industriei electronice traditionale. Strutural, aparatul ramanea acelasi, cu circuite oscilante acordate, cu amplificatori si demodulatori. Schema bloc si principiile de functionare ramanad aceleasi, se putea continua procesul de pregatire al inginerilor electronisti, dupa o curricula usor modificata. Aparitia nanotehnologiilor, a fizicii cuantice si a aplicatiilor acestora conduce la o schimbare radicala. Concret, o echipa de fizicieni de la Berkeley Lab au inventat si construit un prototip functional al unui radioreceptor bazat pe un singur nanotub. Acesta foloseste simultan nanotubul ca antena, filtru reglabil, amplificator si demodulator, convertind astfel un semnat mecanic in unul electric capabil sa reproduca sunetele trasmise prin purtatoare electromagnetica. Inventia are multiple aplicatii precum, functia de Radioreceptor pentru telefoane, retele wireless, GPS si alte dispozitive de electronice, telecomanda Radio pentru biosenzori, medicina si telemedicina, control neuro-muscular, ultra miniaturizarea protezelor acustice, antene de RF, filtre reglabile, amplificatoare, demoduloare, spectrometrie de masa, senzori Chimici, etc. In acest context putem spune ca intreaga structura de productie pe orizontala, cea de componente electronice, de echipamente de productie, se destructureaza
  6. Drept consecinta putem vorbi de o schimbare majora indusa de progresul stiintei si tehnologiei, cu implicatii in definirea conceptului de MUNCA. Acest exemplu este doar unul dintr-un profund proces de transformare determinat de progresul stiintei si tehnologiei, ce determina volatilitatea IMM-urilor intr-o piata globala si turbulenta, determina o continua crestere a fluctuatiilor pe piata muncii, a meseriilor si abilitatilor cerute, cu consecite privind o continua si accelerata schimbare a valorilor culturale si a atitudinilor fata de evolutie. Toate acestea impun cu necesitate nevoia unei schimbari de mentalitate, o modificare profunda a stilului de viata, implicit o restructurare socio-economica. La baza tuturor acestor nevoi devenite stringente sta procesul de educatie, de pregatire complexa a fiecarui individ, dincolo de dimensiunea profesionala. Pentru a manageria dezvoltarea durabila in contextul exploziei tehnico-stiintifice, avem nevoie de o alta abordare, de o noua Paradigma.
  7. O schimbare de paradigma presupune destructurarea valorilor sistemului devenit nesustenabil si traversarea unui punct critic. Acest proces este o provocare pentru isasi specia umana. (CLIC) Putem afirma ca ne aflam intr-un asemenea punct in care existenta omenirii poate fi conditionata de capacitatea sistemului educational de a intelege cu o clipa mai devreme contextul, problemele si a cauta, gasi si induce in societate o schimbare de mentalitate. Pentru aceasta este nevoie de CUNOASTERE, de aceea capacitate cognitiva in a intui si gasi solutii pentru problemele Complexe – nu doar complicate - care apar in aceasta perioada de tranzitie.
  8. Aceasta se poate face prin asimilarea de catre corpul profesoral, pe toate nivelurile, evident pe trepte de consistenta diferite, a rezultatelor marilor “strapungeri” conceptuale ale secolului XX. Este vorba de Stiinta Complexitatii - ce formalizeaza o abordare neliniara a; Stiinta Computationala - ce a generat o platforma de simulare si modelare a dinamicii si evolutiei obiectelor reale, bazata pe inteligenta artificiala; Fizica cuantica si stiinta Cognitiei - ce au readus in atentie rolul Observatorului si a intentionalitati sale in intelegerea genezei si evolutiei Realitatii; Stiinta Mintii , o abordare structural-fenomenologica asupra Constiintei si a Liberului Arbitru. Ma voi opri doar la prima dintre cele patru directii enumerate si anume la asa numita Stiinta A Complexitatii. Se face o diferenta majora intre Complicat si Complex.
  9. Prin cuvantul complex se intelege ca ceva rasucit, amestecat. Realizat din ingrediente ce sunt in asa masura imbinate incat este imposibila separarea in parti fara distrugerea chiar a proprietatii ce se doreste a fi studiata. Intregul nu mai poate fi descompus in parti pentru a fi studiat. Un sistem complicat este in fapt sistemul cu care stiinta clasica a fost obisnuita sa opereze. Intreaga programa scolara este astfel alcatuita incat sa permita intelegerea si utilizarea proprietatilor unor sisteme complicate. Cunostiintele astfel dobandite sunt utile pentru constructia de artefacte, pentru sistemele nevii in general. Un sistem complex se comporta mult diferit. El evolueaza acumuland “istorie”, este dependet de context, prezinta “sensibilitate la conditia initiala” si deci este mult mai putin reproductibil. Sistemele asa numite neliniare, respectiv sistemele vii formeaza clasa sistemelor complexe ce necesista o abordare complet diferita. Procesele economice, sociale, ecosistemele dar si formarea si functionarea organizatiilor si grupurilor sociale, sunt procese care necesita abordari rationale, dincolo de statistica.

Reteaua de concepte, teorii si modelele, precum Fizica sistemelor disipative, teoria haosului, Teoria catastrofelor, Geometrica fractala si fizica constructala, Teoria retelelor, Automatele celulare, teoria algoritmilor genetic etc formeaza in ansamblu ceea ce se numeste azi paradigma sau stiinta Complexitatii.
  11. Inportanta acesei gandiri in constructia societatii bazate pe Cunoastere a fost evidentiala la nivel academic global si recunoscuta de factorii politici la nivel european. In documentele Uniunii Europene exista o foaie de parcurs pentru difuzia in societate a cunostiintelor din domeniul Complexitatii. Se afirma ca: noua stiinta este baza conceptuala a viitoarei Societati a Cunoasterii si reprezinta un mod radical de nou de a intelege si interpreta Natura, procesele fizice, biologice, ecologice si sociale. Diseminarea lor in societate in general si in domeniul universitar in mod special conduce la o mai buna intelegere a mediului natural in care artefactele functioneaza, a modul de interactiune dintre artificial si natural, a problemelor de etica. In mod special stiinta complexitatii permite o gestionare mai adecvata a proceselor sociale, a formarii resursei umane in co-evolutie cu natura. Am putea spune ca, structurarea si maturizarea societatii Cunoasterii este conditionata de asimilarea de catre populatie a cestei noi paradigme.
  12. Pentru a sprijini acest process de dezvoltare si difuzie sociala a paradigmnei Complexitatii in Romania, in 1996 s-a infiintat un ONG ce si-a asumat aceasta misiune. Numit Centrul pentru Studii Complexe si devenit din 1999 centru UNESCO, aceasta organizatie nonguvernamentala si nonprofit, bazata exclusiv pe voluntariat si auto-finantare, a actionat ca interfata intre mediul academic si mediul social, intre nivelul universitar si cel liceal, intre copii si parinti. Activitatea de cercetare a fost structrata in spiritul unui Centru de Cercetare Exploratorie si realizata in totalitate prin parteneriate cu Institutii de cercxetare nationale si Internationale, cu universitati, inclusiv in parteneriat cu NATO. CSC a promovat constant prin conferinte, scoli de vara, workshop-uri, productie de aparate de cercetare, teorii si metode originale de modelare sau masurare a unor proprietati ale sistemelor complexe.
  13. Astfel, a colaborat cu Academia de Stiinte Economice ca si co-organizator al primului workshop de econofizica din Romania.
  14. A fondat si catalizat activitatea primei comisii de Studiul Complexitatii in Economie din cadrul Camerei de Comert a Romaniei.
  15. A organizat actiuni de promovare a conceptul de jurisdinamica, disciplina esentiala in intelegerea procesului de reglemetare, legiferare in sisteme sociale ce co-evolueaza cu mediul, acestea find practic sisteme complexe auto-adaptative.
  16. A organizat incepand din 1996, anual scoli de vara dedicate promovarii in randul tinerilor a principiilor de auto-evaluare si auto-dezvoltare (educatie continua), in special in domenii ce nu erau inca cuprinse in programele scolare oficiale precum fizica neliniara, geometriua fractala, teoria haosului, retele neuronale etc...
  17. Unul din evenimentele deosebite, devenit traditional, este asa numita Academia de vara Atlantykron. Organizat pe o insula din apropierea orasului Cernavola, pe Dunare, Academia de vara reuneste intre 10 si 15workshop-uri diferite, la care participa in medie 300 de tineri din toate continentele. Ideea centrala este legata de consteintizarea nevoii de abordare inter si transdisciplinara a problemelor lumii actuale, de armonizare intre Stiinta si Arta, de formare a unor abilitati specifice lucrului in echipa multidisciplinara, internationala.
  18. Noaptea cercetatorilor – un alt evenimentla care CSC partticipa de cativa ani
  19. Am lasat intentionat la urma programul pe care il consideram cel mai importnat, program de educatie nonformala in domeniul stiintelor in general si al cercetarii stiintifice in mod special. Denimit NEXUS, programul porneşte de la premiza că o întrebare bine pusă poate sa trezească interesul , curiozitatea şi să motiveze efortul de acumulare de cunoştinţe. Din acest motiv, programul este astfel conceput încât să stimuleze capacitatea tinerilor de a genera întrebări pertinente ce urmează să capete răspuns în urma unui proces bazat în mare măsură pe auto-instruire , cercetare experimentală şi comunicare în reţea cu alţi cursanţi interesaţi de aceeaşi problematică.
  20. Asa cum spuneam, CSC actioneaza la interfata dintre mediul academic de nivel inalt, institute de cercetare si societate, respectiv piata. Din aceasta pozitie CSC genereaza asa numitele Proiecte deschise, ce contin tematici de cercetare de interes imediat sau proiecte fezabile dar care isi cauta dezvoltaorii. Se formeaza anual un protofoliu de proiecte, elaborat la nivel de doctorat, de masterat sau de licenta pentru mediul universitar. Pornind apoi de la o tema majora aleasa, se elaboreaza o suita de subproiecte ce pot fi realizate la nivel liceal sau chiar gimnazial, pentru a permite astfel implicarea tinerilor cu deschidere catre cercetare, inca din liceu. Se creaza astfel echipe de lucru formate din tineri cu varste diferite, animati de o pasiune comuna: explorearea proceselor necunoscute din natura. Fiecare are un rol bine stabilit in echipa. S-a fixat nivelul liceal ca nivel ce trebuie sprijinit major pentru a forma abilitati si deprinderi utile in accelerarea proceseului de dezvoltare ulterioara, in facultate. Intre nivelurile de invatamant se creaza astfel o relatie continua. Studentii de la masterat sau chiar doctorat, devin mentori pentru nivelul liceal iar elevii cu deschidere catre stiinte exacte din liceu participa concret in realizarea contextului experimental, in colectarea de date, realizarea de postere, prezentari, foundraising etc...
  21. Programul Nexus T – nivelul liceal, aduce ca noutate O tematica ce principial poate fi realizatat doar multidisciplinar: si un cadru de lucru format din s ala Nexus , spaţiu dedicat şi dotat specific pentru documentare, cursuri, dialog şi consultanţă multidisciplinară, desfăşurarea de experimente de laborator. Este un spaţiu în care profesorul devine mentor şi îşi dezvoltă abilităţi de abordare integrată a unui subiect de interes,
  22. Un „obiect didactic Complex”, respctiv o tema de studiu reala, ce necesita o abordare multidisciplinara. In raport cu aceasta se structureaza un stand experimental format dintr-un ansamblu hard/soft si servicii ce asigura astfel explorarea experimentală, pluridisciplinară a proceselor şi fenomenelor asumate prin proiect
  23. un pachet de cursuri suplimentare şi de tele-consultanţă. Acest program a fost implementat in mai multe centre universitare precum: Suceava, Bacau, Buzau, Bucuresti dar si in orase precum Resita, Otopeni sau Balotesti. Printre teleme abordate: Obiectivarea eforului fizic cu ajutorul unui accelerometru Raspunsul organismului la stimul verbali (un caz concret poezia) Determinarea raportului calitate pret al bateriilor aflate pe piata Zana vulcanilor noroiosi din curbura Carpatilor Si asa mai departe.
  24. Un exemplu concret al modului de desfasurare al unui program NEXUS poate fi tema anului 2011: Pomul – senzor in procesul de predictie al cutremurelor de Pamant. Studiile experimentale realizate de specialisti din japonia au aratat ca, variatia potentialului electric masurat intre un electrod fixat in trunchiul unui copac si altul in sol, este in masura sa evidentieze un anume pattern, inainte cu cateva zeci de minute de declansarea unui cutremur de pamant.
  25. Articolele publicate de echipa japneza au atras atentia si specialistilor din Instituul de geodinamica al Academiei Romane care au printre temele de cercetare si studiul seismic al zonei Vrancea, zona responsabila de cutremure majore de peste 7 grade pe scara Richter.
  26. In cadrul Observatorului de Geodinamica din Caldarusani, situat la doar 40 de km de zona Bucuresti, se afla o serie de aparate de monitorizare continua a starii de stres tectonic.
  27. Aici, in colaborare cu Universitatea Politehnica din Bucuresti, facultatea de Stiinte Aplicate se dezvolta un sistem complex de monitorizare , bazat pe inteligenta artificiala. In acest context a fost definita o tema de studiu mai ampla legata de posibilitatea de a utiliza un arbore ca senor in procesul de predictie al cutremurelor de Pamant. In parteneriat, in cadrul unor lucrari de licenta, au fost stdiate o serie de teme prin care s-au conturat modalitati de abordare teoretica a acestei probleme: Modelarea radacinii prin geometrie fractala, Studiul antenelor fractale, Problema Rezonantei haotice in dinamica structurilor vii, Sinconizarea oscilatoarelor haotice, proprietate fundamentala in sisteme complexe, etc.
  28. In vederea realizarii unui experiment pilot, inainte de a duce acest sistem complex de monitorizare in zona seismica Vrancea, s-a structurat un proiect de tip NEXUS – T, aflat in curs de implementare in cadrul Liceului Tudor Vladimirescu. In jurul unui arbore au fost plasati o serie de senzori de monitorizare a mediului: senzor de presiune, de temperatura, de camp magnetic, de lumina, de vibratii. Fiecare senzor a constitut in sine un proiect de cercetare realizat cu cate o echipa de elevi, condusa de un student din programul de cercetare academica. Corelarea activitatii este asigurata de profesorii de stiinte exacte din liceul amintit. De la intelegerea principiilor de functionare si pana la asamblarea concreta a partii electronice, la conectarea senzorului la sistemul computerizat de achizitie a informatiilor procesate si in final la programul de vizualizare si stocare a datelor, elevii au putut experimenta concret lucrul in echipa, valorea finalizarii la timp a celor asumete. Cu alte cuvinte au trecut printr-un proces de utilizare a cunostiindelor de fizica, matematica, biologie, informatica intr-un caz concret. Pentru programarea activitatilor s-a folosit un program special management iar intreaga activitate este vizibila on-line prin intermediul unei pagini WEB dedicate proiectului.
  29. In final, va invit sa urmariti cateva secvente din primul proect Nexus desfasurat in liceul Tudor Vladimirescu din Bucuresti. Tema asumata a fost Imima – oscilator haotic. Intelegerea procesului de rezonanta haotica si determinarea unei posibile sincronizari a doua „inimi”, ca fenomen natural al empatiei dintre subiecti umani. Rezultatul obtinut s-a concretizat in afirmatia: Inima canta nu Bate (dinamica haotica a inimii fiind o masura a starii de sanatate a unui subiect). Rezultatele obtinute au fost utilizate intr-un alt proiect legat de obiectivarea efortului in cadrul orelor de sport din acel liceu, lucrare de doctorat a unui cadru didactic din acelasi liceu. Aplicat de aproximativ 15 ani, acest proiect si-a demostrat utilitatea, tineri avand initial 10 ..11 ani fiind acum in universitati prestigioase din straintate, legati afectiv de grupul Nexus, si cu determinare de a contribui la modernizarea sistemului educational prin cresterea ponderii de integrare a disciplinelor pentru a oferi o viziune de ansamblu asupra unor probleme, prin motivarea tinerilor cu deschidere catre stiintele exacte, prin formarea de abilitati de auto-dezvoltare, educatie continua, specifice unei societati bazate pe Cunoatere.
