- By referring to the title, the word “death”,
captures the main idea of the poem and what is
explored constantly throughout it.

7. Literary devices
- Imagery: This literature device is used by the author more
than once:
- “Man...vanishes as doth the worm that he created”- the
author creates an image of decaying body being fed on by
worms
- “Deep of the night…”: with dark already being dark on its
own, this phrase gives us the image hiding behid the even
darker shadows of night.
- Personification: “death Is speaking”: it gives human
characteristics to death.

8. Personal opinion
We all think that this poem is very significant and shows the
reality of life. Every person in the world will die, soon or later.
The poem tries to show this as a natural thing, that will arrive
in our lives. We see this as the end of an era. Some people
will feel sad, some other will feel liberated. In our opinion, this
is something that has to happen, because we are not alive
forever.
