2. For the first question I asked
my target audience whether
they were male or female, my
results show that 22 out of 31
were female, this is more than
half. This tells me that the
majority of my results will be
from a female perspective.
However I will have opinions
from both genders so my
results should be reliable.

3. Question 2-what is your favourite
band?
For the second question I asked my
target market who their favourite band is,
and gave them a few options. This is so
that I know which bands I should
definitely include within my magazine. My
results tell me that the majority of my
target audience like catfish. I will definitely
include them in one of my cover lines so
that my magazine appeals to my target
audience.
4. Question 3-what is your favourite
colour?
I then went on to ask my target
audience what their favourite colour
was. I asked this so that I would get
an idea for my colour scheme so
that it would appeal to the readers
eye. The majority of my results said
blue, this tells me that I should
include blue in the colour scheme
so that it appeals to my audience.
5. Question 4- how often do you
buy magazines?
I asked my target audience how
often they buy magazines. I asked
this so that I know how often to
publish my magazine. Most of my
results show that most people
purchase magazines once a week. I
will be publishing my magazine
once a week as that is what my
target market prefer.
6. Question 5-what is your favourite music
magazine?
I asked my target market which is
their favourite music magazine.
This is so that when I make my
magazine I can take inspiration
from my audiences favourite
magazine. I gave them magazine
options which were the same
genre as me magazine. The
majority of my audience like
kerrang. Now I know this I can
take inspiration from kerrang (as it
is the same genre) magazines in
order to be certain my audience
will enjoy the magazine.
7. Question 6-what do you like in a music
magazine?
For question 6 I asked my
target audience what they
liked in a music magazine
and gave them options of
what to choose. I asked this
question so that I could
understand what my
readers like to see in the
magazine. Most of my
audience chose posters and
reviews. This tells me that I
will definitely include
posters and reviews as well
as others contents.
8. Question 7-how much do you usually pay for
a magazine?
I asked my audience how
much on average do they pay
for a music magazine. My
answers told me that the most
common is £2.00-£3.00. so I
decided to sell my magazine
for £2.50 as it is affordable
and within the price range, so
I know it wont be a problem
for my audience to buy it.
9. Question 8-how many columns do you
like in a magazine?
I asked my audience how
many columns they like in a
magazine. This is so I know
which layout my audience
would prefer to read from.
Over half of my results say 3
columns. This shows that my
audience would prefer to read
from 3 columns, because of
this I will have 3 columns on
my contents page.
10. Question 9-how many pages do you like in a
magazine?
For this question my results
where almost split evenly
between 50-60pages, 70-
80pages, and 8+ pages.
However people prefer 70-80
pages in a magazine by the
slightest. Because of this I will
have around 75 pages in my
magazine as I know the
audience will want to read it and
get through it all.
11. Question 10-what size font do you prefer?
I asked my target market what
size font they preferred,
whether they prefer bigger or
smaller font. My results show
that my audience prefer size 16
font, however I have come to
realise that the size 16 font is
too big and would not be
suitable. So I will choose a
more suitable font size for my
magazine, keeping my
audiences opinion in mind.
12. Question 11-should the front cover have an
instrument on?
I decided a good question to ask
my target audience is whether or
not they would like to see an
instrument on the front cover of the
magazine or not. This is so that I
know what appeals to them to
make them pick up the magazine.
My audience said yes, they would
like and instrument on the cover.
So I decided I will have an
instrument on the cover so that it
makes the audience want to pick
up my magazine as they will be
intrigued by the front cover.
13. Question12-do you prefer more writing in a
magazine or more images?
I decided to ask my audience
whether they prefer more writing in
a magazine or more images. The
majority of my target audience said
images. Because I now know that
my audience will prefer images I will
definitely have a variety of images
on my contents page, as I know this
will appeal to them.
14. Question 13- would you prefer a male, female or
group on the front cover?
I asked my target market whether
they would like a male, female, or
group on the front cover. The results
were between a male, female or
group. The majority of my results
were evenly split, this tells me that
my audience do not mind much. I
now know that if I have a male,
female, or group on my front cover it
will still appeal to my target
audience.
15. Question 14- do you like to go to concerts?
I asked my audience
whether they enjoy going to
concerts. This is so that I
know whether to include
reviews and experiences
from live concerts. My
results show that the
majority of my target
audience enjoy going to
concerts, now I know this I
will include reviews from
latest live concerts as I
definitely know that my
readers will be intrigued and
want to read the magazine.
16. Question 15- how many CDs do you
buy per week?
For question 15 I asked my target
audience how many CDs they buy
per week. This is so that I know
how much they like music and
listen to music by how frequently
they buy CDs. At the time I thought
this was a good question to ask,
however now I think id get a better
idea If people like purchasing
music o not if I asked if they had a
Spotify account, as more of my
target audience will tend to use
Spotify and not buy CDs as they
are young.
17. Question 16- Are you subscribed to any
magazines?
I asked my target audience
whether they were subscribed to
any magazines, this is so that I
know how much of my audience
read magazines frequently, and
pay frequently. A few of my
results show that my target
audience are subscribed to
magazines, however the majority
of my audience are not. This
could mean that they prefer
buying a magazine weekly when
they choose to. My magazine will
be published weekly as I know
that it is affordable for my target
audience.
18. Question 17- would you rather read a magazine
online or on paper?
I asked my audience whether
they prefer reading
magazines online or on
paper. My results show that
over half of my audience
prefer reading paper
magazines. This is good as
my magazine will be made to
print on paper. I now know
that my audience will want to
buy my magazine.
19. Question 18-what one word would you
associate with punk?
I asked what one word my
readers would associate
with punk, as this will be a
major theme in my
magazine. The word people
most voted for was
“troublemaker”. I asked this
question so that I can
include this word in my
magazine, knowing that it
will appeal to the reader
and they will know
immediately after seeing the
word that it is a punk related
magazine.
20. Question 19-whch magazine name do you like
the most?
I had to decide on a magazine
name for my music magazine,
so I decided to ask which name
my audience would prefer the
most; this also tells me which
magazine they are most likely
to see and pick up from a shelf
in a shop. My results show that
“zoinked” and “Pulp” were the
names most voted for. Because
these were most voted for I
shall use one of the two so that
it is guaranteed to appeal to my
target audience.
21. Question 20- which band is your least favourite
band?
For the last question I asked
my audience which is there
least favourite band and gave
them a choice. I asked this
question so that I would have
an idea of what bands not to
include in my magazine to
make sure that my magazine
is always appealing for my
audience.
