2. Motive
• Preventive Oncology Department was started by Mr.D.B
Chand to help the poor cancer patients and his family not only
monetarily but also emotionally.
• This department has the whole and sole motive of spreading
cancer awareness and conducting detection camp for early
detection.
3. Achievements
• Till date GV has distributed 3-4 crores of rupees to help poor
cancer patients.
• This amount was used to help about thousands of cancer
patients.
• Conducted more than 55 detection camps all over Mumbai,
Bangalore and Pune.
• Detected many suspects who were referred to higher centers
for further management.
• Counseled approximately 1500 patients and their families.
• Conducted many seminars till date in various schools, slums
and corporate houses.
• Published 11 volumes of news bulletin till date which has
reached thousands people.
• Innumerable number of brochures and pamphlets raising
cancer awareness has been distributed till date.
11. Process involved in helping patient.
Two ways of helping a cancer patient
1) by providing cheque in the name of hospital
2) by providing free medications as prescribed by oncologists.
Documents required in both cases
1) Cost certificate from Hospital
2) Id proof of the patient
3) Residence proof
4) income certificate
5) 2 passport size photos of the patient.
12. How do we select the patients to help
• Considering that we receive huge number of patients per
month we are bound to choose the most needy patient of
the lot to help.
• Other factors influencing are the patients age and
prognosis.
13. Detection camps can be arranged in the areas of your respective branches
If conducted with the help of ICS you need:
• A party who wish to organize it for their people
• who can provide us rooms for check up with basic furniture
required to conduct a camp.
• Meals for the team coming to conduct the camp.
• Parking space and electricity supply for 1-2 Volvo buses
depending upon the type of camp.
14. Benefits of conducting detection camp
• This activity is closest to our motive of fighting
cancer.
• Helps detecting cancer patients at an early stage.
• Early detection improves chances of cure.
• Through such camps people know that cancer is
very common and can effect anyone and thus
take precautionary measures.
• People know more about our NGO and want to
associate with us.
