2. STRUCTURE OF SENTENCES
The sentences in Active voice and
Passive voice are different from each other
in many ways.
They also differ in their structure. Let us
see the differentiation in their structure.
9. TYPE - I
The V3 form of the verb in the sentence
changes when the sentence is converted
into Passive from Active.
10. PASSIVE VOICE
Base Sentence : He wrote a letter.
(Eg) : The letter was written by him.
Object : The letter
Verb : was written (V3)
Subject : by him
11. TYPE - II
The V3 form of the verb in the sentence does
not change even when the sentence is
converted into Passive from Active.
12. PASSIVE VOICE
(Eg) : I read a book. = Active
A book was read by me. = Passive
•The base verb in both cases is ‘read’.
•It remains same, in both the cases.

14. Convert the following into Passive voice :
6. I told her a story.

15. Convert the following into Active voice :
1. Will this house be sold by you ?
2. By whom will the bill be paid ?
3. I shall not disturb you.
4. We are being waited by her.
5. A letter was being written by him.
16. Convert the following into Passive voice :
6. My work was not being done by me.
7. This book has been read by her.
8. I have not been helped by him.
9. The food has already cooked by him.
10. The pack has been received by him.

Subject performs the

verb.
The subject receives

Subject + Verb + Object Object + Verb + Subject
