2. OBJECTIVE
Raise productivity through scaling-up and
scaling-out of the most successful market-
oriented production innovations to a new
generation of business-oriented cassava
farmers engaged in commercial production,
with sustainable links to reliable demand

3. New approaches are being tested to:
 resolve the problem of unemployment among
youth,
 reduce HQCF processing cost and thereby
increase profitability and competitiveness
 increase cassava productivity/yield and reduce
production cost at small-to-medium scale farm
levels
 solve the problem of root shortage at HQCF
processing enterprises

4.  These are being done by:
 empowering the youth and smallholder farmers (as out-
growers) in project states through the dissemination of
improved farming practices and training them to use modern
techniques such as mechanical planting, use of herbicides,
use of drought tolerant high yielding cassava varieties, etc.
through demonstration plots
 tracking the production costs of both traditional and modern
methods of cassava production.
 establishing a network of cassava out growers very close to
HQCF processing plants for adequate supply of roots at least
cost of transportation.

11. CONCLUSION
The overall aim and objective of the project is
to on the long run build a structure that is
profitable and sustainable which all actors in
the value chain can successfully adopt and
replicate.
