2. How to Delegate, Manage your Time,
Solve Problems
&
Make the Right Decisions
3. Managers need:
Time management skills, confidence in making
decisions, and the ability to control stress.
In order to do this, they need to know how to
multitask and prioritize.
Delegating is a great way to support those needs…
5. A sign of a good leader is how
well they can delegate
Blank
• You can accomplish more by giving work to others
• It builds employee self-esteem
• You are still held accountable
Why?
6. Before you delegate,
Ask yourself these 3 questions:
1. Can the task be delegated?
2. Should it be delegated?
3. Do you have the time to delegate effectively?
If yes, remember…
8. 1. Pick the person best suited for the task.
2. Make sure they can work independently.
3. Make sure they understand what to do.
4. Get the commitment of the employee.
5. Give the person authority of the project.
6. Determine if the task needs to be monitored.
7. Motivate by discussing the positive impact.
8. Determine if the task is completed:
–Do you need to make the final decision?
–Do you need to review with the employee?
–Do you let the employee make the final decision?
Here are eight delegating tips:
9. When delegating:
• Try not to always pick the same person
• Match the task with the person
• Spread it around to those who show
interest
39. Decision-making is a key role of a
manager and leader.
Some managers find this to be one
of the most difficult tasks to
perform.
40. Don’t have a fear of
failure
Don’t procrastinate
41. Think of making a decision, as
drawing a line between two points.
If you can’t draw a straight line
between the two points, then that
decision should most likely be
rejected.
42. Don’t be afraid to talk to your boss
or upper management about major
problems or needs that concern you.
You do not want to be known as a
manager who “keeps secrets”
43. Define the problem or need before
you make the decision.
Ask yourself, and others if needed,
the following:
who, what, when, where, how, why
type of questions.
